    A 1911 in 9mm is one of the most manageable pistols ever, hands down! I own two Colt 1911 9mm's and a Kimber 1911 in 9mm. I am a huge 1911 fan and shoot .45 ACP as well, but would prefer a 9mm. Either way, in either caliber, the 1911 is the Best handgun in the world! Thank you, John Browning!

      I Agree with you `00%, love my .45 1911's, but I love them in 9mm too!!

    • @AZBEEMR
      @AZBEEMR 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Browning developed the Hi Power for the 9mm parabellum cartridge. He developed
      the 1911 for the .45 ACP. (automatic colt pistol ) and never the twain shall meet!

    I love 1911s in 45acp and I love them in 9mm too! One of my most recent investments was a Gold Cup Trophy in 9mm with a Colt Custom Shop hand fit National Match barrel and bushing. Great shooter! I don't understand this talk (the last few years) about 1911 pistols being unreliable. Is that why we used it as a sidearm for 75 years (and still do today for some purposes) because it was so unreliable?

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NOTHING unreliable about ANY of the 1911 Pistols I currently own!!

    I really enjoy your videos, I really want a colt 1911 in 9mm. Unless colt comes out with the all stainless steel commander in 9mm, I believe a colt competition stainless will be my next purchase this year. Keep up the good work!

      Thanks, I like the Colt Competition even more now that it comes in Series 70!! IT wasn't bad in Series 80, but I prefer the Series 70 fire control over the FP Safety!!

    By far less recoil than the 38 Super. Nice and beautiful gun.

      It is, I have fired both the 9mm and the .38 super and the super has issues being a Straight Semi Rimmed case, I prefer the 9mm!!

    This Gun will be my first 9mm 1911. Colt makes an awesome product. My first gun like most people now,was a Glock, ergonomically it’s a joke, aesthetically it is ugly, but it just flat out works. I then bought a Wiley Clapp 21st Century Commander and fell in love. I now have several Colt 1911’s, and they are all super reliable and fun to shoot. I will be purchasing a 9mm 1911 to have some fun with and this Gold Cup looks to be ready to race!

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya, I know how you feel about Glocks, they're Fugly, but they DO work!! This is a fine 1911 and in 9mm, it's super fun and accurate!!

  • @bungalobill7941

    Bought one. Rattles quite a bit
    Quick....Run
    Wait a minute
    It runs everything I put in it. Steel case, re-manufactured bulk, lead free, regular brass case range ammo, hollow point self defense
    Works with any mags I have tried. Cheap mec-gar 10 rnd are my favorite
    Bag rest at 10 yards/10 rounds I can get about a half dollar size hole with TULAmmo steel case. Pretty awesome
    Only problem was the extractor needed adjusting right out of the box, and it may be a little over sprung for my cheap ammo choices. May try a lighter spring, but probably not
    Would I trade it for something else??
    Not on your life

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't be calling Men-Gar Magazine Cheap, are you aware that 99% of ALL OEM Magazines for almost ALL Gun Companies like S&W, Ruger, SIG, CZ, Walther, and just about everyone else out there is made by... Wait for it, Wait for it..... MEC-GAR!!! YUP, NONE of these companies make magazines!! NONE!! They are smart enough to go with the TOP Magazine Maker in the WORLD!! MEC-GAR!!!

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But on the rest of the point, it is a good pistol, very accurate and reliable and if your extractor needed a little more love, not a big deal, that is very easy to fix!!

    • @bungalobill7941
      @bungalobill7941 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@yrsued Yeah. i didn't mean cheap in quality. I meant cheap in price. They are good quality mags at a very good price.
      The extractor problem took only about 5 minutes to fix. Remove, bend a little to tighten the casing hold, put back in. Easy fix.
      A common thing to check on any 9mm 1911 and keep adjusted.
      Many people buy into the marketing idea that a really tight frame to slide fit is essential or a sign of quality, most desirable, etc
      Simply not the case. A good barrel lock up is what's most important, and a quality barrel, also barrel/bushing fit.
      I have no desire for a super tight gun that is finicky and has to be broken in over hundreds of rounds, and still may not run properly.(finicky about ammo, mags, won't run when they get a little dirty, won't run dry at all, etc) Dan Wesson slides seizing up comes to mind.
      Pistols you have to pamper like a high maintenance wife or girlfriend
      Most people probably don't know that stainless steel 1911's can be even more finicky because of the metallurgy of stainless
      Anyway the proof is in the pudding. The pistol is very accurate, runs anything, and I am very well pleased

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bungalobill7941 Yup, no high Maintenance 1911's for me!! NOT at all!!

      @bungalobill7941 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yrsued Yep. I am a shooter. I want a gun that will run at the range on cheap ammo and perform. Though the gold cup is a handsome gun. Just sitting around admiring it in my living room would not be my thing.

  • @imthatguy1878
    @imthatguy1878 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I really enjoy my 9mm gold cup trophy, now if colt would just put metal mainspring housings in the rest of the 1911s, I put 25 lpi Wilson combats in all my polymer housed models

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Colt started using the Plastic Mainspring Housings back in the 80's, when the Series 80's came out, I don't see them changing that anytime soon, you did the right thing by using the Wilson Combat parts.

    1911's not reliable??? They just require more regular cleaning/lube-ing than a poly. They also have a tighter tolerance. Keep it clean and lubed --practice/train...there should be no problems. Poly are just more forgiving. For the shooter that isn't willing to put in the time to clean/lube his or her guns.

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been shooting 1911's for over 35 years, and trust me, I never clean my guns, only when they start malfunctioning, other than that, I just run them!!

    Using an expensive "bar-b-Que" gun as a carry gun is sexy as all get out. BUT if you have to use it in defense that expensive gun will wind up in an evidence locker where it might just get "lost". Don't ask me how I know about a Colt Commander that was "lost" for almost 20 years before being "found"

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued ปีที่แล้ว

      10 round for a 1911?? Yes,
      Now, would Colt sell it?? Probably not
      First, Colt DOES NOT make the magazines, they buy from other companies.
      There are several high quality makers like Wilson Combat and Metalform that make 10 round 9mm 1911 mags!!!
      Wilson also make great 1911 .45 10 round mags that work great!!

      It's more or less the same recoil, depending on the loads you use!!

    • @yrsued
