    indian cousin is just an endless source of vegetarian dishes! I don't mind meat now and then but when vegetarian (for most of the time), Indian recipes are the best!

      After cooking with the boiled potato the raw lentils becomes soft , and the dry paste of the lentils dry chili 🌶️ and coriander is already cooked and ground coarsely is also 90percent cooked, the rest will be cooked by mixing and 2minuts covered cooking

    For me this is a new way of cooking with lentils. I just boil them and that's it. I have both types of lentils used in this so I am going to try this, it looks simply delicious.

    This is interesting. I have not seen podi being made with ghee, ever. Usually the spices are dry roasted.

    I'm in Canada, and at 1:23 I just put on the captions to parse what you said, then looked up "Maris Piper" and "all-rounders". Even in a Commonwealth country, I've never heard either of those! 😁 Really enjoying your recipes; the videos truly make my mouth water.

      In the USA, the Yukon Gold type potatoes are good substitute for Maris Piper.

      A Maris piper is a very common general purpose potato usually used for making fried chips, roast potatoes or mash.

      Yes you can and store in the fridge

      You could also dry roast them and store in air tight container and keep in cupboard too. However, it’s best to do them fresh or make a very small batch so the aromas stay intact.

    This recipe looks amazing. I was surprised to see you use sprouted potatoes. I thought potato sprouts could be toxic. I usually always cut mine out . Any thoughts on this?

      I have always used sprouted potatoes, just pick off the bits, cook and eat.

      they are fine, if they are not shrinking up and you remove the sprouts

      Looks like kashmiri chillies, the ones with more colour and less heat.

      I did mention in the video that I used kashmiri chilli as I didnt want to too hot but you could use any you like? depending on how hot you want the dish! hope you will enjoy this

      Ahh ok thanks Partha and Chetna! I think the Kashmiri chillies we get over here in Singapore aren't quite so big, just wanted to confirm they were Kashmiri chillies. Love them. Will make this!

    We make this curry always , it’s coming through generations but our spice mix is different .. actually there are two variations one is with lentils and other is without lentils .

    How do the lentils and urad dal get soft enough to eat in such a short cooking time, without a lot of liquid? I tried a rice recipe with yellow split lentils, toasted in oil with curry leaves and black mustard seeds, but even after the rice was added and cooked, the lentils were hard.

    You can make this recipe simpler by using ready to use idli chutney powder that is available in Indian stores instead of making the spice mix.

    I have always struggled with the use of Dal in these types of masalas. Is it flavor or texture? And I cannot use Hing. My western palate rebels against that flavor. 🤷‍♀️

This is about teaching people how to cook at home and not to sell anything. I find your tone very entitled. No one is asking you to buy anything if you dont want to. I have shared all the ingredients and EXACT MEASUREMENTS in the video for anyone who wants to try and cook this at home. And you cant write them down yourself? Not sure where the problem is here........
