Great review. I drive a Buick Verano, that I purchased new ln 2013. My current Buick has low miles & still runs great, but I just love the look of this, so I might make the trade. I plan to soon test dive this Envista and also, the Encore GX Avenir.
I do think this could be a winner for Buick. I like the style, price, and size. It’s not too big and great vehicle around town OR perhaps good mileage commute vehicle. Time will tell with long term reliability of 3 cylinder engine. If it’s reliable like Toyota, Honda, and some Hyundai vehicles, should do very well. One question I would want answered before purchasing, results of crash tests. However, a great grocery getter and in town driving. It’s a luxury price point vehicle especially if you want new with modern technologies. Is it built in U.S. ?
Nice review, but you didn’t mention some awesome features. The remote start via the mobile app and heated steering wheel in a 30k car are really notable and worth mentioning. This was missed in the review.
Look at it this way, unless you're buying a Toyota or Honda every engine out there is a crap shoot now days. I think I'd be more concerned about the turbo.
It might’ve been nice for them to add a retractable luggage cover for the trunk area but I understand why it was done. In order to keep the price lower, they have to cut corners somewhere. This car is a winner from what I can see, a year or so of driving them on the road will tell us one way or the other. The Chevy Trax has done very well, but doesn’t handle nearly as well as the loaded Avenir package Buick and does not look nearly as good as the Envista.
It's kind of a crossover style, but is it fairly low to the ground? Basically, can you just slide in and out of it like a crossover or is it lower like a sedan or hatchback where you have to drop down to get in?
How does this Buick hold up with crash tests ? Since it’s made in China, does China have same safety requirements as U.S. vehicles ? Most people will ask this same question ?
@@Chas1160 It is made in South Korea, not China. The same plant that makes Encore GX, Trailblazer, Trax, etc. The Trailblazer (cousin of Encore GX) is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+.
I don't understand the hate that seemingly surrounds 3 cyl engines..can anyone explain that? Is the logic that since it only has half the cylinders, that it will only last half as long as a 6 cyl?
Small displacement motor being forced air to perform like a larger motor. Direct injection systems tend to have issues with carbon build up on intake valves that will will eventually cause issues with performance. More frequent oil changes will be needed to mitigate the extra stress the turbo charger will put on the lubrication system. Timing belt (in oil) vs a chain…and the likelihood that GM engineered more rugged motor internals (forged vs cast connecting rods for example) to take the pounding that turbo is gonna put on the engine is questionable, especially at the Envista price point…outside of that it’s a good looking vehicle.
I would really prefer if the car industry stop diving into these smaller turbo charged engines. A 4 cylinder 2.0 or 2.5L naturally aspirated engine will hold up longer than these small turbo charged engines. The engine is taking in more combustion than it can handle. It's going to wear on the engine faster, causing more engine & turbo repairs
@@cantwealljustgetalong2True. I owned a Tesla and learned the hard way about the EV scam. They will do absolutely zero in the grand scheme to save the planet’s environment or eliminate our need for oil, plus they are financially horrible, less reliable, and far less convenient.
Why not the 1.5L turbocharged four cylinder engine, like the Chinese market Envista?? You'd think Buick would want to differentiate the Envista from the turbo 3 cylinders in the cheaper Chevy Trax 😮
needs a 4CYL and AWD yeah it costs more but could replace the outdated Encore and I also question the longevity of the 3CYL but at least if blows up you can always goto Lowes and buy a Toro lawnmower engine quite easily.
@brocklanders6969 From an entry-level level vehicle standpoint, this is the replacement. The Encore GX is smaller and costs more, which throws people off.
Major safety issue for me with the rear turn signals way too low down. They should be higher up for better visibility to following drivers. An F150 is going to run right over you!
Was sold until I learned NO AWD option and I would NEVER buy a 3-cylindar turbo charged engine. They need turbo because the engine just won't have the pickup and the combustion will eventually wear on the engine. I can't for the life of me understand why Buick would produce such a nice car without AWD as an option.
I just bought it ,I was also apprehensive about the 3 it actually has decent enough power it had 800 miles, so when I bought it I got 6yr 100k warranty and an extra yr and 12k miles on top of the 3/36 bumper to bumper that definitely played into my decision and its not really American which sucks it's South Korean
I would buy one of these, and drive it forever if it came with something like a modernized Quad Four and AWD. Thanks for the cool video.
Your welcome 👍

That’s awesome, I like Buick and for the price it’s hard to say they didn’t do a good job with either 👍

Thank you 👍
Another great review. My only concern would be the longevity of the 3 cylinder engine ?? Otherwise looks like a bargain!
I’m the same but on the pro keep it three years and trade for another and it covers that 😁👍

It should have been larger to match the x6 or gle coupe it's tiny
I’m concerned about the timing system

They are nice vehicles but the Envista is a sportier style 👍

It’s more towards a crossover, but depending on how tall you are you may need to bend a little 👍
Good question. I will probably check it out. The Chevy Trax has a very low rent interior, even for the price point.

The Buick Encore GX has very narrow front seats. Hope this doesn't.
They are the same but I didn’t find it a problem 👍

No it’s more of the power out of the engines for me but everyone has a different opinion 👍

Different videos I’ve watch the timing system is pointed out often. Should this be a deal breaker ??
There’s a premium audio system on this trim?

I agree a 4 without a turbo would be a nicer option
This should have been Buick's first EV.

They timing system is a big concern
care is so beautiful , but the engine is a disaster 1,2 l 3 pistons , turbo lol
Nothing perfect 😁
the 3 cylinder is a deal breaker for me. what a shame, i wanna buy american so badly but they all have these tiny turbo engines, i cant do it
It’s not for everyone and you have options but for lower priced vehicles it has become more limited 👍
