I just realized that maybe with some routing changes, you could maybe lower the jump count further
So, I think some of the stars proven to use no jumps might be able to alter the original route to beat Bowser the first time at the end with a lower jump counter.

The sheer absurdity of some of these tricks is not only amazing but also just plain hilarious.
Kind of poetic, how 100% on the mariofile took 58 jumps, aka almost the amount that game completion took before the comment optimisation.

Were there any possible optimizations in star choice for the previous video? I mean like, choosing different stars to lower the total jump count since a lot of them were doable with 0.
Also, the fact that you can do the entire game's stars with less jumps total (mario only) than the previous video had is both funny and great.
Yes, different routing would’ve made the counter for the original lower. I think there would be a total of 4 levels that would require jumps

I love SMG/SMG 2 TAS. Idk what it is about speedrunning this game but its just such a satisfying speedrun in general. If you do SMG2 iirc theres a TAS for it as well and the speedrun itself is also neat.
It was so cool of the mario galaxy abc team that figured out and tas'd all of these! They are super cool and did a really amazing job working with an otherwise limited game. You did an ok job showing off their work.

26:10 you did add the jumps for Luigi but you did forget to mention that you had to complete the level with both characters explaining why you added 4 to the counter when you only mentioned 2 jumps. Overall great video and I love your content.

Can you show us the skips with Luigi?
they should be in the SMG ABC playlist I linked in the description, most of them are crystal floating, and a few of them are enemy bounces that mario can't do for whatever reason. there was only like 13 actual saves that he could make though if I recall correctly.

Does having 0 jumps in some of the new levels for this video mean that there might be less jumps required for any% if you did some of those levels instead of some of the ones from the 1st videos route?

I refuse to believe that crystal floating's supposed to be a thing. That looks like cutting mario out and pulling him to the desired spot
It isn’t supposed to be a thing, if you move the stick towards the direction you are not facing, you’ll gain height, and speed but if you do the opposite, that would be when you start to lose height

Just a fun fact: in loop de swoop Galaxy, you can completely skip the massive loop

So I wanted to open that this video is insane from start to finish but to comment on the bit asking for improvement, could you have spin jumped off the toad for the final star to cut down by 1 more jump? Again tho, fantastic video
Nope, you can’t really spin off anything on the last star for whatever reason

That Dreadnaught 1 skip looks really cool! Would you mind explaining to me how to do it? Thinking about using it in one of my own challenges!
1. hit an astrogoomba up the slanted area (really difficult since they usually slide off)
2. climb up slant and bounce on another goomba to reach the goomba on the slant
3. you can bounce on the goomba to just barely get enough height to wall jump up to the top area
4. fall off the top area from the back in a hyperspecifc way to get pulled into the gravity of the planet that has the launch star.
if you have any more questions, I hope I can answer them. (this is also a very advanced trick, so keep in mind it might take a while to pull off)

After trying to do the trick for a while I have a few questions about the specifics of the trick.
Q1: You mention in step 3 that you're meant to Wall Jump off of something, but there doesn't really seem to be anything nearby to Wall Jump off of. I've tried multiple different angles but the most that's happened is that Luigi acts like he just entered a different gravity zone(?) and falls back down to the slope. What exactly do I Wall Jump off of?
Q2: Looking back at the footage presented in this video, I noticed that the P2 cursor shows up for a split second. Does this have anything to do with the trick at all?
@@Forgado there is a wall you can jump off of if you gain enough height from the goomba (can’t remember if the wall is invisible or not but there is one there) p2 doesn’t affect anything.

I know I'm 12 days late, but I would like to see a video about what jumps you can avoid as Luigi.
Half of them are just crystal floating and I showed how one of them is done with Luigi. (They all have the same setup)

@@pvzpokra8602 you get more height as Luigi for one of the coins in melty molten purple coins, you get more height from an enemy that will cause you to gain more momentum overall to grab a pole in toy time (this happens on the ice cream planet)
Those are all the ones I can think of that don’t show up in the abc playlist linked in the description.
If there are more you can go to their discord server and check out a google doc that shows all the stars (it includes things Luigi can and cannot do)

For example doing the first star Battlerock instead of Bouldergeist Daredevil
oh, you can 100% do better, I think it's possible to do 14 or less.
