I work in live entertainment and have since the late 70's. I play and played in many bands late 70's thru the 90's. I got into lighting and then mixing and was making much more money mixing sound than I was playing music so I ran with it. I have been on a helluva lot of stages and mixed a lot of monitors and some house on the large level. I can tell you one thing right now. First the amount of money bands make today for live shows is astronomical compared to even the 90's and ridiculous compared to the 80's. Nobody that is in their 70's can sing like they did when they were under 30. I see backing tracks used all of time and have since the 80's. Mostly click tracks in the monitors just to keep the band in time if some one were to get lost for some reason and things do go wrong. the second most thing I have seen bands use backing tracks for is vocals. Especially bands that are older or shall we say classic. It doesn't have to be rock and roll. It happens in all genres. Those vocals are pumped to the house pa. The guys in the band in most cases are actually singing but if they are having a bad night or lost their voice or something, flu or what ever the issue may be but the house engineer mixing the show for the audience can turn their mic off and use the recorded vocal because everything is synced to the click track. some times the band members do not even know it is happening but the agreed to use the trax and gave the house engineer which is travelling with them the power to use the track instead of them if they suck on a given night. Let's face it, shit happens and these people are making millions for shows these days. A cancellation is a lot of money and bills that the band has to pay for out of their pocket. When a show is booked local people behind the scenes start their work and they get paid regardless but if the show cancels the act owes the venue for all the labor that these people did preparing for this concert and it is a lot. There is my two cents worth and it's all true, a 20 year old sing like angels and scream like demons. 70 year old people can't do that. simple as that.

One of two things happened, imo…he might’ve knocked his wireless unit out, or kicked it off during that move. The other possibility is that he knocked out of tune during that headstock collision and the sound guy muted it. The latter is a bit more remote but it’s possible

Didn't his guitar tech who was with him for more than 25 years pass away, each one of these guys have a tech, they practice situations before the tour and the main job of a bass and guitar tech is always looking at your boss they're the ones paying you not kiss they are,
Ok now hear this. It's obvious. His in ears were fine. It was the chordless device on his guitar. Either not plugged in properly, dead battery ect. He needed a new guitar with a new chordless set up. Guitar tech was not paying attention as that's his job to be alert to such issues. Gotta be quick on your feet and aware at all times or you will be replaced.
That is the reason why Paul throws his guitar down.

Inside electronics finally died in the guitar perhaps with loose wiring that needs soldering or the wireless that's hooked up to the amp lost signal to the guitar. Paul looked pissed when he was trying to signal to his tech to get him another PS Washburn to where he threw it down. It happens to any guitar really.

I remember watching the Dubai concert and clearly hear Paul singing to his own voice because it sounds doubled to me - like Ozzy's voice on records.
Paul is 71 years old. I tried doing the full KISS show (makeup, costumes, etc) and I struggled doing it in my late 40's - I can only imagine what it must be like for them.

This will continue to happen because MOST concert goers don't know or care about playing music and/or performing. They just wanna rock out and watch a bunch of fireworks and that's good enough for them. Same with most people going to the see Motley Crue these days, they just wanna hear Kickstart My Heart and Girls, Girls, Girls (Mick who?). It sucks for the real fans b/c they clearly see it, but money talks at the end of the day. Personally, I'd rather fire up a joint and listen to Shout at the Devil or Love Gun at home for free, no traffic or parking to deal with.......THAT or an old live performance on TH-cam as opposed to seeing a bunch of grandpas trying to relive their glory days.

It’s called a volume control, if you turn it all the way down it surprises you with no sound, none, not even a little bit. Some of them are even labelled as such. They have them on other stuff too.

Fans don't pay top dollar to listen to artists sing along with a backing track. So instead of promoting "Live" events that could be considered a form of false advertising, they should promote these clowns as sing a long concerts.

The only thing live in the halftime show is the vocals. Even then most just lip sync any band is on a strict timeline and can not go over one second no exception. KI$$ sucks and always has. Some bands famously played other songs during SB performances while the pre recorded performance earlier plays through the PA.

If you notice, he failed when he went to throw the guitar between his legs the first time. He smacked the headstock into his boot on the first attempt and knocked it out of tune.
Also you can hear Pauls live guitar track pretty well
i remember seeing kiss during the animalize tour ... mid 80's , philly pa , queensryche opening for them ... anyway i think they were starting their tour and breaking in mark st. john .... im right up front , some blistering lead is being played and i look at paul and mark both playing power chords and im like "whats going on here?" , i see paul give mark a look a boss gives the employee and mark has a "oh shit!" look and goes right into faking the lead playing .... i saw loudness with their new American singer back in the 80's also in a large club and their stage power went out ... but the follow along and play over track was still piping thru the p.a. so that seemed to be really embarrassing because all of them stopped and the music kept going ... i think only small bands actually play live ... the bigger bands want to sound polished and professional , but its not authenticly being 100% live no backing tracks

@@ShaneDiablo the previous song was the opener for the show. Detroit Rock City, and from looking at the clip for that song, it looked as though Paul's instrument was missing from the mix, especially when they got to the dual guitar solo part, and only Tommy was coming through. So by the time they got to the next song, Paul was probably peeved off that nobody on his team had yet noticed his guitar was out of commission.

Batteries could have died in the wireless pack, there could have been a wireless frequency problem on that channel that gtr was on.
If you notice, when he throws the guitar down, had the wireless been on, it wouldve busted every eardrum in the room. There wouldve been a racket from hell. So, something was either faulty with the wireless pack, (obviously hell have backups already ready to go) OR.....and this is most likely....he just popped a string. Often times when you pop a string, theres less tension on the neck, and bridge, and it throws all the other strings out of tune--on top of the fact that youre missing a string. Cant really play without all the strings. I guess you could fake it for a minute, but playing with only five strings is limiting, and feels awkward. Onviously again, all of them would have backups wired up, strung up, and ready to go. Thats the job of a guitar tech. 😊
As for his lip syncing...?? Id be recording better sounding tracks if those really are backing tracks. But, all bands have ALWAYS done this. They use thier voice for a living. If you cancelled a gig every night your voice went out, youd be refunding for a third of your tour dates.
And also......hows that any different from bands with one guitarist playing along with, and on top of, a guitar backing track?? Ozzys guitarists do/did it. Mick Mars always has. Layering vocals is no different than layering guitar tracks.

I just think it's hilarious when Paul bashed V.V for selling a guitar he didn't play but signed and yet when he smashes guitars now instead of throwing it into a crowd he sells it Smh!
A compressor can make vocals of different volumes the same. So if he pulls off the mic it won't have a great difference than up close. I'm in no way saying he doesn't lip sync but a lot of the videos are just the compressor doing what it's there to do.
No compressor is going to work to that extreme on a big stage & full PA. In studio conditions, where you can push the gain structure because there's no chance of feedback, sure - but even with IEMs, that stage is ridiculously loud just from PA bleed. No way he can turn his head 90 degrees & have it sound as if he was straight on & close up - the comp ratio necessary to do that would have that mic howling through the mains.
Correction, Ric Flair's Wooo! isn't so hoarse.
Mic usage technique includes moving your mouth away from the mic when you need to sing parts that might max out the mic or put the sound of balance. It’s everywhere in live performances. The only way to prove lip syncing is if the singer stops singing and the vocal continues ie jamie spears. People saying Paul lip syncs on Howard stern is horse poop 💩

Having watched your comment clip in its entirety, I have to point out a couple of things. And I'm pretty sure everybody n the touring industry agrees with me on this.
- Kiss has sponsors, they are not touring and paying it all out of their own pockets. Because that would make touring too expensive to do.
Regarding their instruments, Paul doesn't have multiple guitars on tour because, as you put it, "He's rich." He has multiple guitars because he NEEDS them, Kiss uses quite a lot of open tunings and capos on different places on the necks for different songs and those specialist uses guitars need back ups for emergencies. As I said already, Kiss is sponsored and Paul is sponsored by Ibanez guitars, he even has his own model. They provide him with his stage instruments, and the association with the band gives Ibanez a lot of promotion in return.
Because, touring beats the shit out of instruments, the guitars get flown over from continent to continent, experience humidity changes every single day, No matter how careful you are with your instrument, those guitars get worn out and need replacing. Yes, Paul DOES still own the mirror guitar he's seen using in the "I was made for loving you" music video but he doesn't take out on tour anymore.
Paul Stanley always smashes a guitar in concert,then chucks it to the audience. It's his signature move.
Not any more he smashes it and takes it back stage to sell for $1100.00 dollars .

one of the biggest things that ticks me off about these guys all the fans all the money etc they are calling it quits final tour 2023 i never hear them say thanks to our fans we love you its like they think they are doing everyone a favor when it should be the other way around also im not saying they shouldnt make money but they charge for these fan packages its a lot of money everything tied to them is but what about the fans I dont see the love its all one big act they will show up and be involved with things for fans but it always involves big money so its not about the fans its about the money they have more money than most people could ever dream of anyway yeah its time for the end of the road

Not sure of when this was recorded. But, Paul’s guitar tech passed away and they were good friends. If this was after that, probably just an emotional moment. We’re all human. Who cares. Paul and Gene are living legends. You would pay to go watch them talk about nothing. Enjoy this final run with backing tracks. Just know you will never see these 2 in makeup again. A real fan would understand that.
