I applaud and thank Gene for recognizing Ace and Peter. It needed to be said. I clapped and even teared up a bit when he said that. I have seen the original Four three times. First time in '78 in Pittsburgh when Peter passed out during the show. I will never forget that night.

It was a nasty back-handed way to mention then, i.e., a back-handed compliment, e.g., "We needed them at the beginning", "Not everyone has it in their DNA for a marathon". And then Paul openly immediately trash-talks them. If you teared up at that, you didn't pay attention to the actual words and subtext (or to all of Paul and Gene's trash-talking of them throughout this tour)

    • @mebeme007

      @@froggacuda1605
"We need them in the beginning".
At which time stamp did either Paul or Gene use those exact same words?
I heard Gene talk about kudos, love and respect to Peter and Ace for being there in the beginning, to help them get started. Ace and Peter helped them in way that other people couldn't have.
I heard Paul say they couldn't have started without Peter and Ace, and they couldn't be there today with them.
      FACT.
      What's so wrong about that?
"Not everyone has the DNA to run a marathon"
Well, he is speaking TRUTH. Whether you are willing to acknowledge it or not.
As Gene said, not every single band that is still making music, still touring, after 50 years, are all the original band they began with.
No-one carries on so badly at all the other bands.
Yet, KISS cop so much crap from the fools and sooks who claim to love "the original KISS", and CONSTANTLY CRY about Ace and Peter not being there.
Peter and Ace had their chances and they blew them.
If you let drugs, alcohol and the rest get in your way, whilst you want to be lazy, etc. Then you clearly cannot handle being in a PROFESSIONAL band.
Peter and Ace have said and done plenty of their own trash talking for almost 40 years.
So spare us the violins, when you accuse Paul and Gene of trash talking, whilst you conveniently ignore all the BS that Ace and Peter have spewed out themselves over the decades.

@@froggacuda1605 I agree about Paul. It pissed me off with what he said. He should have kept his mouth shut. I think Gene tried. As far as what’s going on with the tour, I have no interest if Ace and Peter aren’t in the band.

I've been a big fan since the beginning. I'm 64 yrs old & have been playing bass since the late 70s. In 2010 I had the honor of being in a band that opened for Kiss. After opening for a lot of big acts I was to say the least nervous. I figured it was going to be a long day. We arrived at the venue & hooked up with their road manager. He was great gave us our passes plus front row tickets. He said park your truck by the stage their crew will take care of your gear. Oh you have your own dressing room, we're feeding you & you have your own soundcheck..wtf... talking to them afterwards & manager Doc McGee they we're all great. Lifetime memory.

Growing up with KISS in the late 70's was an amazing experience that can never be repeated. People have no idea what it felt like to read stories in the paper the Gene was photographed without his makeup. We'd all get so excited because back then NOBODY knew what they looked like. It was a huge secret and everyone was always trying to snap photos of them "unmasked".. Plus, it wasn't "cool" to like KISS back then either. They had their fans like me, but we were often not the popular kids in school. So it really created a special place in our hearts to be able to share the love of Rock and Roll with KISS and watch their adventures and listen to their rock and roll. I was able to start going to concerts in the early 80's and got to see KISS many times without the original members and without makeup. The day they announced they were touring not only with ACE and PETER, but in FULL MAKE UP was incredible. I don't think I've ever been that excited to see a concert, from anyone, ever. 1996 was the year, and it was the best KISS concert I've ever seen. I stayed with the band even after Peter and Ace were gone, and even attended many of the "final" tours over the last twenty five years. Great band, great fun, Great memories.

Amen! Committing to liking KISS came with people thinking you were weird. I never forget taking my grandfather downstairs and showing him my records and he came upstairs and said I am worried about David, those guys really strange. And let's face it, lots of girls were not really into them. So to say you were a fan came like a doubly edged sord. But man was it cool way ahead of it's time. I was born in 67 so by the time I was 7 was listening to them and they hit there peak in what 77-78. Look how long that lasted even without Ace and Peter, it's truly amazing.

That line..." we couldn't have gotten the rest of the way with them." was a real dig. Paul and Gene already had a relationship and eventually used that against Ace and Peter. They didn't want to share. I also think they were jealous of particularly Ace because he made everyone laugh. I'm a big Rush fan and early on Rush toured a lot with Kiss stating that Ace was a blast to be around and Gene was always too serious. Ace's solo album was the best. Ace wrote some of their best songs, how many great songs has Tommy Thayer written? I balk at the whole thing. They are not Kiss without Ace and Peter; which is why I lost interest a long time ago. Their days without makeup made them uninteresting and no longer unique. As I see it, once someone else put Ace and Peter's makeup on, that absolutely killed Kiss for me. I've had plenty of opportunities to see them with the other guys, but I promised I wouldn't spend a dime on them without Ace and Peter.
I started listening to them in 5th grade around '75 -'76, that was Kiss, not this over-hyped stuff. Just my opinion. Sorry if you don't like it or disagree.

I LOVE KISS! Their music, and fantasy personas, have gotten countless of fans through thick and thin times, and their music was fun and well crafted from the get go. The fans knew they had latched on to something special, when despite the detractors, they could go home, put on their favorite KISS album, and be transported to a magical musical realm that was so straightforward, heartfelt, and pure! I lived in Northern New Jersey at the time, and KISS caught on quickly. I will never forget when my cousin's wife, from Washington Heights (where Paul went to High School), casually said to me during a Thanksgiving dinner, that she went to school with Paul Stanley, and that she had a picture of him in her yearbook, without makeup! I nearly lost it, and incessantly begged her to borrow the copy. I brought it to my High School and was mobbed with KISS fans dying to see what Paul Stanley (Stanley Eisen) looked like without the makeup! I caused such a ruckus, that the school Principal sent me home that day, and demanded I never bring that yearbook to school ever again! True story!

As I was on my way out, Doc McGhee was on the floor and I got to thank him personally for decades of entertainment that he had organized. He was so kind, let me get a pic with him and his classic pose of a big smile and pointing at me like I was the "big deal", not himself. He was cool, it made me feel a little more content leaving a KISS show for the last time. God Bless Doc!!

I love all songs but my favorite from KISS is Rock N Roll All Nite, Love Gun, Lick It Up, Psycho Circus, I Was Made For Lovin You, Detroit Rock City, Deuce, God Of Thunder, 100,000 Years, Shout It Loud, War Machine, I Love It Loud, Calling Dr. Love, Black Diamond, and Do You Love Me. I became a fan about 10 years ago, and I am hooked. I think the new digital band is awesome, though there will NEver Ever Be anything as good as the the band, live, in person. Soooo grateful for their body of work...sharing their creativity, their eternal sexiness, and positive vibes!

I first saw KISS back in '98 on the Psycho Circus world tour in Boston. I was 15 and had already been a fan for 7 years. To this day, that has always been in my top five moments in my life. And now I am enjoying introducing KISS to my kids and seeing them react the same way I did when I was their age. Thank you, KISS. You guys took a scared and broken kid and gave him hope for a future that he could only dream possible, I may never meet any of you, but you will always be loved.

I finally had to pause at 19 minutes to write this: I love Paul and Gene. I see their humanity in this video, and the love to Peter and Ace is just priceless.
Im 53 and remember listening to KISS when I was 6--I walked in the snow to my friend's house. It was the coolest thing we had ever seen and heard. I got KISS Alive II for Christmas in 1977. I still have the album.
Guys like this are leaders we need to cultivate hope and love in this world. Rock Gods in every sense of the word. ❤

Did you watch the same footage as me? They are bashing Peter and Ace. They can never ever be 100% polite to them.

I agree, disgusting to bash a living legend drummer and guitarist, who actually were the real heart and soul of the original lineup!!!! Team Peter and Ace always!!!!
