Paul is underrated as a guitar player in a similar way that McCartneys bass can be overlooked. Stanley’s chord inversions and right hand groove are unparalleled. Not to mention HE WROTE AND SANG THE BEST KISS SONGS by miles. Total respect for this guy.
People throw around the word underrated too much. What makes Paul Stanley underrated exactly? He's a good guitar player who plays well. What's there to underrate? He does what he should and he can play guitar.

Most guitarists look up more to Ace Frehley than Paul Stanley, and despite what the 70s KISS purists might say, guitarists Vinnie Vincent, Mark St. John, and Bruce Kulick were honestly even better than Ace ever was. But I’ve always had great respect for Gene and Paul as songwriters. Even if they’re not the most technical virtuosic musicians, they’ve consistently made amazing music over what, half a century now. Never met a KISS album I didn’t like.
Hi Paul, when you said “ I’m not only a member, I’m a fan of the music we wrote”… I truly believe this is one of the most important reasons why KISS has been so successful.
It is years later and I am still watching these videos. Thank you Paul and thank you to all of the medical teams, remote teachers, first responders, and the man that picks up my garbage. Some lead guitarist are not as good as Paul. I was telling my husband about his playing. He said that sometimes the rhythm has to be better because he helps to hold the bass and drum line together and build something for the lead to follow.
What’s cool is Paul’s stripped down, just him playing his guitar part that he plays in the band - gives you insight into his influences which are the reasons we all started playing. All the best to you and your family Paul. Stay safe!!

yes indeed just like a lot of us TH-cam players for fun not for profession..the flubs to foul-ups make it all the more real.. nothing I dislike more than when I see someone who has thinks there a rockstar or got a studio and they just have to play but yet they have to edit it to make it sound so perfect.. it's nice if you're doing it for a reason but just to show off and say look at me!! this is what I prefer shut I missed a chord that was a sour note oh well it's all for fun. live as it happens hit record on the phone and away we go baby

My sister is 10, she has cerebral palsy and barely talks however whenever she hears kiss, or sees Paul she screams 😍she absolutely loves kiss she hums and Blubbers all of kisses songs and always wants us to put on kiss for her !🥺🤍 she absolutely loves you and Was excited to see this video.

The great thing about this video is the way he manages to connect to us... I can feel myself sitting there in his home studio, after having dinner with him and his friends/family, having a cup of coffee or tea and listening to him playing riffs on his Gibson Les Paul and telling me stories about this or that... And I'm sure many of us feel the same way... The ability to connect to people on a personal level even though it's through a video like this one is a real talent...

While the context of this vid is centered around the covid period, it touched on something I have done for 35 years, .... just play my Mex Fender strat and Epiphone Les Paul to myself in the basement almost daily. when I was like 12 years old...My Brother....me...and a couple of our friends...all about the same age...made cardboard guitars, drums and amps...did up the make up....put dads awesome stereo down in the carport of the apts. we lived in...set up some desk lamps as spot lights...and did the Kiss Alive album for all the little kids in the apartment complex....and yes....I was Paul Stanley lol I think my dad still has it on 8mm film....I'm 56 now....and remember it like it was yesterday.....Thanks for giving me one of the best memories of my life!!! lmfao Paul's voice has been a lost cause for some time now. 1) The miracles of Autotune have proven to be useless. 2) They've tried banks and banks of the best Pro-Tool plug-ins that Gene's money can buy, but to no avail. 3) Not even the best throat surgeon in Beverly Hills has been able to help the poor schmuck formerly known as Stanley Bert Eisen get his voice back. That's why he soldiers on today having to mime to old recordings from the Casablanca days. The man who once claimed he put the X in Sex (I think he was singing about Gene), is now an octogenarian who has to pop handfuls of Viagra before he can sprout an inch of wood. Bless his little heart!

I am a patient transporter , taking patients on rolling beds from room to test sites , 3rd shift... at sarasota mem. hospital in florida. not as many issues like new york. but around 60 out of 700 test have covid.. and 9 employees.. we are doing our best to help people , and hope we all stay healthy in the process. Its our job.. we have 6000 employees.. 3 shifts. Thx Paul for your wishes and time..

Back in April of 2000, I was in 8th grade. Our teacher said our class had to break into groups, and each group had to pretend to be a band between 1960-1975. We were to dress as them and play air guitar, air drums, etc for "Woodstock" in front of the whole school. I wanted to be the Beatles because I had never heard any other music from that era. A kid in my group was adamant that we be KISS, which I was originally against. I finally agreed to sample their music, took his KISS CD home, played Rock And Roll All Nite for the first time in my boom box, and FELL IN LOVE!! I've now been a die hard KISS fan for 20 years! Can't wait to see them AGAIN this September in Illinois!

@@belfastbusfan my point was after Ace & Peter were gone and when Gene was playing movie star, Paul was writing KISS songs and making sure KISS didn't die. Ace is my favorite. I'm not taking anything away from the rest of the band but Paul always had their longevity at heart.

I can still remember the 1st time I saw the album cover for ALIVE. I hadn't heard of the band, all the radio would play in those days was the pop music. Once I heard the opening riff of Deuce, I've been an addict ever since! Paul & Ace inspired me to pick up the guitar. I would lock myself in my room & play for hours. Trying to learn every song note for note (and remember the tuning). I caught all kinds of SH*T from parents who just didn't get it & peers who couldn't admit KISS could actually play. Those very same people, went to see KISS with me in my hometown of Manassas, Va. in Bristow! I've never been shy or denied! KISS has always gotten me through it!
I love seeing legendary musicians play not in a performance setting cuz it reminds us all of ourselves practicing playing our instruments on our own time and reminds us that we’re all similar

Cool to hear Paul play his parts by himself and see the interesting ways he fingers the chords. I remember watching this video during quarantine. It was cool to see him doing what he could to reach out to his fans and give us something to enjoy.
Mr. Stanley, I just finished working a 64hour shift at a group home. I needed this. It sounded perfect to me. Thank you for these videos, your message, and being part of the soundtrack to my life since 1977 when I discovered KISS in the fifth grade.

I enjoyed watching this video for several reasons. While the context of this vid is centered around the covid period, it touched on something I have done for 35 years, .... just play my Mex Fender strat and Epiphone Les Paul to myself in the basement almost daily. Thanks Paul, been a fan since mid 70s and was pleased to see KISS at the Summit in Houston mid 70's plus also pleased to take son to see your band at Indy fairgrounds. p.s. - been working on Black Diamond this last week in basement!

I have been to several of your shows and I can say that I was blown away every time! What a show! Nobody puts on a concert like you do...worth every penny and the long drive to get there! I am wheelchair bound as I have stage 4 cancer. I try to play my Stratocaster when I am able but not much any more, I still do try though. This video was a bright spot in my day and I thank you for that. Do you have any advice for someone like me? I try to keep my chin up but it’s really hard, do you have any advice for me? Is there an email for you? It would be really great to chat. I know you’re super busy but I’m hoping...thanks Paul!

when I was like 12 years old...My Brother....me...and a couple of our friends...all about the same age...made cardboard guitars, drums and amps...did up the make up....put dads awesome stereo down in the carport of the apts. we lived in...set up some desk lamps as spot lights...and did the Kiss Alive album for all the little kids in the apartment complex....and yes....I was Paul Stanley lol I think my dad still has it on 8mm film....I'm 56 now....and remember it like it was yesterday.....Thanks for giving me one of the best memories of my life!!! You are the real deal Paul...Class for days man....

lmfao Paul's voice has been a lost cause for some time now. 1) The miracles of Autotune have proven to be useless. 2) They've tried banks and banks of the best Pro-Tool plug-ins that Gene's money can buy, but to no avail. 3) Not even the best throat surgeon in Beverly Hills has been able to help the poor schmuck formerly known as Stanley Bert Eisen get his voice back. That's why he soldiers on today having to mime to old recordings from the Casablanca days. The man who once claimed he put the X in Sex (I think he was singing about Gene), is now an octogenarian who has to pop handfuls of Viagra before he can sprout an inch of wood. Bless his little heart!

I am a patient transporter , taking patients on rolling beds from room to test sites , 3rd shift... at sarasota mem. hospital in florida. not as many issues like new york. but around 60 out of 700 test have covid.. and 9 employees.. we are doing our best to help people , and hope we all stay healthy in the process. Its our job.. we have 6000 employees.. 3 shifts. Thx Paul for your wishes and time..

53 here and right behind you. all there classic songs and we all know which are the classics still make the hair in the back of my neck stand up and makes we wanna pick up my guitar every time still.
Back in April of 2000, I was in 8th grade. Our teacher said our class had to break into groups, and each group had to pretend to be a band between 1960-1975. We were to dress as them and play air guitar, air drums, etc for "Woodstock" in front of the whole school. I wanted to be the Beatles because I had never heard any other music from that era. A kid in my group was adamant that we be KISS, which I was originally against. I finally agreed to sample their music, took his KISS CD home, played Rock And Roll All Nite for the first time in my boom box, and FELL IN LOVE!! I've now been a die hard KISS fan for 20 years! Can't wait to see them AGAIN this September in Illinois!

Ace is my favorite. I'm not taking anything away from the rest of the band but Paul always had their longevity at heart.

I can still remember the 1st time I saw the album cover for ALIVE. I hadn't heard of the band, all the radio would play in those days was the pop music. Once I heard the opening riff of Deuce, I've been an addict ever since! Paul & Ace inspired me to pick up the guitar. I would lock myself in my room & play for hours. Trying to learn every song note for note (and remember the tuning). I caught all kinds of SH*T from parents who just didn't get it & peers who couldn't admit KISS could actually play. Those very same people, went to see KISS with me in my hometown of Manassas, Va. in Bristow! I've never been shy or denied! KISS has always gotten me through it!
I love seeing legendary musicians play not in a performance setting cuz it reminds us all of ourselves practicing playing our instruments on our own time and reminds us that we’re all similar
