Quick shifter extra; it's called ' gouging' there customers pockets! At that price it should be included, period! 👎🏽
Bmw does it with the 1000r - was stock with previous model, but not in base variant of current model

@@lpete531 I am not disagreeing with you at all. What it does do is open up a good sub-market for nearly as good options that for most will be good enough for a lot less cash. Z900, the new XSR900 and GSXS1000 all have what would have been great specs 4 years ago, for a lot less than the SFV4 Tuono, SDR, S1000RM, and SPTRS/RR. Even the SFV2 looks a comparative bargain, and realistically that and any of the others are quick and fun. Good time to have choice, even with some manufacturer price gouging which probably reflect that it is a bit of a sellers market in that genital swaying at the cafe hypernaked market.

They include it on the Vitpilen 701 so why not on the 1290?? Kind of a joke, especially if you’re paying that much for a bike like that they should include the quickshifter you’re right
OC: Coming from a KTM fanboy, on my second KTM bike now, I fully agree it’s a pocket gouging tactic that’s incredibly frustrating about the duke r models. One of the biggest reasons I love and went with my 690 SMC R as it came with all the electronics standard without having to “unlock” it i.e. quick shifter, auto blipper, 6 axis IMU, wheelie/traction control. IMO if you’re buying the “R” models that should just come with the price tag and be included in the purchase price.

I have both '20 SMC R and 890 Duke R. I was surprised as well that my sumo came fully loaded and the Duke didn't. If I remember correctly, the 690 was nearly the same price as the 890 R.....maybe that's why....dunno

I have a 21 SDR, at 6’3 it’s the perfect bike for my height. Haven’t paid to get it unlocked and think it’s total BS for how much I paid but damn I love the bike and it’s beyond fast. Super comfortable and with the SC project exhaust… best sounding bike ever. Also my opinion I think you’re over exaggerating the buttons except the blinkers, they’re terrible. Also when you press up and the extra information shows up… just press the back button where your left thumb is.
Absolutely love the single sided swing arm! It rips the 40 to 80 haha. Crazy how these new bikes have modes and all this tech, very cool!

This video was funny. I have an '07 Super Duke with the 999cc engine. It is beast mode all the time on that thing. No traction control, ABS or wheelie control. If you ham fist it, you loop it. Your comments nailed the KTM Super Duke family vibe: Pirate Mode 24/7.

I bought a 2019 SDR last year instead of a new one because it had all the modes unlocked. Not to mention the price difference. I totally agree with you for that price it should be standard as the equipment is installed just not activated. It's like they almost expect you to just pay the extra for it. But it costs them nothing more.
I bought a 790 ADV last year and that's why I will never buy another KTM from a dealership. Love the bikes, but the dealer network is run by incompetent crooks.
When he sold the bike, he said verbally all the accessories were included. Then after I signed the papers he said they were optional add ons. These people are scum.
OC: I'm on my third KTM bike now, so you could say that I am a KTM fanboy. Started on a Duke 200 on my learners license, upgraded to a Duke 390 on my restricted license and now after moving on to my Full license, the proud owner of my dream bike, 2019 Super Duke R. Love the bike but not a fan of having to pay to unlock features that are already on the bike. $1438 NZ dollars here to purchase the Performance Pack with Quickshifter and the Track pack. I got a great deal on a left over 2019, so I paid the extra to unlock the features, but had I paid full retail price or even the price of the 2022 model, I would have to think twice before upgrading. At least give us the Quickshifter at that Price KTM. Great video as always Chase. Your video on the 2019 Super Duke helped me to make my decision when tossing up between the Super Duke and Tuono 😎

That's why the duke 790 was a bang for the buck. Quickshift and all modes were standard. From my knowledge only add-on was the bluethoth. It's a shame that 890 and 1290 doesn't come as standard also this features.

@chaseontwowheels This video is 1yr old. I bought a 2023 evo about a month ago. Get the friggen tech pack! It is $949 and it is a massive upgrade in usability and performance. If you are riding to work then you want the anti-dive, ect. If you are going to the track you want the quickshifter, ect. I hope that by now you have finished putting the icing on that beautiful cake! Ride safe, man.
edit: I feel you when you said that it is deceptive in that "it doesn't make a lot of noise" it just says... GUHHHH and suddenly you are @120mph. I am still being relatively gentle with mine while breaking it in. It has the nuts... it is one of those bikes that always has more than you need. Whatever the situation... it has more than you need...
That laugh @ 12:32. I have that same laugh every time I rail on the throttle of my GT version. No better feeling.

Think I prefer the look of the 2021 which is mostly black, wheels black, with just the frame orange. Looks sick!. With KTM, ALWAYS go with the ergo seat they offer... Had Super Duke & 390 Adventure, and ergo seat on both made a huge idfference (especially on long roads).
Think of it as electronic aids 'a la carte'. You can add QS, Track pack, or suspension pro individually or as a package. Add them all and you're at $20500. That's $500 more than a base Streetfighter V4 and you have the same electronics package but with electronic suspension too.

I got a 2020 SDR. Agreed, I don’t like that they get you with the extra add on. I wasn’t going to think twice about it, just rolled it into the total price ($600 more). Let me tell ya, with the QS, in Track mode, with Wheelie control off…the real Beast comes alive!
I'm on my second Super Duke now, i just factor in the money for the tech pack when i buy it.
I can kind of understand that if you don't need the tech, it's nice to not have to buy it 👍
I have a 2017 SDR and I had to pay to unlock the track mode and quick shifter. At this level and price the bike should come fully enabled. Total BS.
Love the bike. Pretty comfortable and it looks cool! Tossed the stock mirrors for bar ends. Stock exhaust sounds great without being over the top. These things eat tires for lunch.
I have the double RR and its a dream to ride and so quick thru the twisties….

I've heard that it performs better than the 1290, but I've also heard it's got the usual KTM issues.

Great bike overall but I'm with you Chase. Chaps my a** about the extra grand to get quick shifter when the price is already set high. Makes me feel like I'm buying something from greedy corporate executives. And honestly I wonder what else they will scheme up to make customers shell out extra cash. Got trust issues with all that's, so still haven't bought The Beast. Next trip to Europe I'm getting the Aprilia Tuono and Streetfighter V4s. Superduke will have to wait. Damn It!

First things first I love my super Duke!! lmao, When I bought mine my dealer hooked it up and added it into the purchase of the bike. But they paid for it. Shwiiing. I love the lowdown grunt, but the top end tho😂😂🤦♂️- 👌 perfect Daily ride if you ask me! Outtrocrew ✌️
I think this is one of the coolest looking bikes out there. When I was shopping last year I was between this and the diavel 1260. Couldn't find a super duke close enough to check out but I did look at an 890 duke r and it just wasn't as nice as the ducati. I love my diavel and I am very happy with my choice. I didn't choose the streetfighter because I would have preferred a V2 version and the missing fuel gauge was a big deal in a bike I commute on and would have to fill up every day
Were you able to play with the semi-active WP suspension? I am curious to know how it performs.
is the Super DUke R still a beast? Well, chase did a wheelie all the way to 80+ (on the highway) with transport lock on! Its not just a beast, this thing is a murderous psychopath! LOVE IT!

Love mine! I have a 2020. I did spend on the extras and the aftermarket KTM Akrapovic slip on, sounds amazing!! Correct me if I am wrong, and maybe the 2022 is different, but without the add ons, you should have the quick shifter up or down. I’m can’t remember which it is, but it does come standard with quick shift in one direction and you’re paying to unlock it in both directions. Still, it is a kick to the plums to have to spend extra at the already high price point to get a host of other stuff. Never regretted the purchase for a minute though 🔥🔥❤️

I have a Streetfighter V2. I've been looking to upgrade. I'm either going Streetfighter V4S or the Duke R Evo. I really can't decide!!
My 1st gen didn’t have an auto shifter so I just put an aftermarket one on. It does kinda suck if the bike is suppose to have one but doesn’t because paywall.
I bought this exact bike and negotiated the tech pack into the deal!
Great video, great first ride... that thing is a beast... regarding the quick shifter, if your dropping 20k on a bike at a local dealer and that dealer can't hook you up... Might want to shop around.. Not everyday your buying a toy costing that kind of cheddar..
Haven’t met a dealer that will hook it up. Not gonna lie, because of COVID, they have so many buyers and few bikes they can afford to sell and squeeze every profit right now

I've always been more of a Tuono V4 guy, but this bike is also amazing. Shame they don't want to give us the GT version for a few years now for whatever reason.
I think KTM did the US motorcyclists a disservice by not offering the GT. I was able to snag a 2020 version and I've ridden the R and it's a perfect middle ground. Large tank, luggage comes stock, electronic suspension, and ergo's that are a bit less aggressive than the R.
Can you review on the 2016 Zongshen cac rx3. I thinking about purchasing one but I’m not sure how good it is and I don’t know anything about it
I'm curious. If it's a keyless ignition is there a steering lock? If not someone could just roll it away or am I supposed to carry around a disc lock every time I park it somewhere.
I bought a new 2020 KTM 790 Adventure S last year. Spend about $900 more to get cruise, quick shifter, and rally pack software put on it. It’s kind of a shitty deal but I’m still glad I did it.

I got mine and agree with you that quick shifter should be added but they know that who pay that price no problem for 300$ extra ( not 1000$)
3 times I've bought a Superduke, Gen2, Gen3, Gen3 EVO. Got the tech pack free every time which includes every add-on available. Don't like the idea of paying to unlock stuff, but in my experience you should negotiate for it when buying.
I just bought the new 2022 super duke r evo, and yes I paid $898 to unlock all the options. Your not supposed to use the unlocked options until 600 mile oil change.
absolutley sick ass bike.....your strapped to an engine and it looks like it, KTM comes full force with everything.....raced dirt bikes when they werent mainstream but came with so many good parts, and now they dominate off road, similar with naked bike segment now.....they are just a motorcycle company.....its not just a division of a bigger conglomerate company and it shows.....yeah paying for features that should be standard sucks but its still best bike in the class for the money

It’s a dream KTM bike, how about that feel like of the semi-active suspension? Is worth it to buy for it of the KTM factory triple clamp too?
It is an amazing bike. Love mine. They did a good job with wind uniformity, so there's not as much buffeting, just an increasing amount of pressure on your chest as you go faster. It's fine at highway cruising speeds, though above 100 it starts getting rough. Chase is right that the riding position helps lean you into the wind to help combat it. It's much more aggressive and supersporty than the prior gen SDR. Slow speed fueling is much better as well. Disagree with the torque rating from Chase, though. This thing is a torque monster. That's why you can lift the front wheel so easily, no clutch needed.
I wish translogic or woolich made a quick shift/autoblip for sdr cuz it be nice to have aftermarket options if ktm is gonna charge u extra anyways
Plus with aftermarket options u get so much more like pit lane warm up option

I bought my 2020 SuperDuke back at the beginning of 2020 when they were first released and luckily for me, the dealer I bought it from gave me a pretty good deal due to my loyalty with the dealership. I was less then MSRP before taxes and fees and I got them to include the full track pack and quickshifter and all that jazz included (whether that just meant they lowered the price even more or what have you).. but I do agree to your normal guy who’s probably going to pay full price, having to pay extra for features that are technically already installed onto the bike is definitely KTM price gouging on a bike they’re already charging a premium price for.. but that’s KTM for you… all their crap seems to be over priced regardless..

Great bike! However, it really bothers me that the front tire is put on backwards. If you look at the lines in the tires, it pushes the water towards the middle of the tire instead of outwards like the rear one.

So I just started riding this year. After just 1,800 miles I’ve decided to trade in my 390 Adventure, against everyone I know and everyone online’s suggestions I’m going with this bad boy. Wish me luck!
either way, here in the UK you pay about £300 extra for a quickshifter, if it’s just unlocked or the hardware is fitted.

I do find it odd that the Superduke R doesn’t come with a quick shifter but the Superduke GT does

A question, and a comment. First, is this the SD-R EVO ? If so you missed the fact it has a LOT of adjustments to the semi active suspension without the Tech Pack that changes ride height and damping. So all of your comments about the height and steering response were with the bike in what suspension setting 🤔??? I laugh at all the whining about having to pay more for all the electronics. You have to remember, it’s all about the ability to advertise a list price to get the customer in the door. Case in point; have you EVER found a BMW on the dealers floor for the advertised list price ? Nope ! The Dealers order them with all the feature on them, pushing the price up $1-3k because that’s what the customers want 😉. The SD-R EVO a $21k motorcycle, get over it !

I bought a 2020 super duke and got it for $16737 before taxes and fees plus $800 for the tech package. Very happy with purchase!
I’ve just bought this bike. The electronics options pricing doesn’t bother me at all. Not everyone would want all available options, so to offer the bike at a lower cost is a good thing IMO.
When will it be launched in India
OC: as competitive as this class is, I would buy a different bike because of the pay to play type thing. MT-10s are rad, I’m sure the new one will be even better. The new speed triple is rad, and I’m sure the tuono is great, but I haven’t ridden that one.

Am I the only who is not a big fan of a quick shifter? I like doing rev matching and working on the clutch myself. I feel I'm in full control of the bike
Kawasaki ZH2 is the answer. Quick shifter up and down, supercharged, top gun status.
Too heavy and not as playful, and is ugly.
I'm a big fan of Kawasaki's btw.
Zx6r and 10r are my fav bikes.
But the Zh2 just doesn't look that grt and is heavy. Also why not just go for an H2 with a fairing to actually have fun with that engine 😅

OC - Had to do the same when I bought my Duke 890R. It’s annoying, and probably even more so on a SDR purchase
i love the SDR. i have an mt10 right now but i would love to have an sdr for days when i dont think death is close enough on the mt10.
Mt 10 are softer and more comfortable, Superduke 1290✊🔥are more hooligan 😎and faster
