Before you judge you must understand that this was the first album that came out after the drummer's accident that left him with One arm!!! They had to work around those obstacles but still stayed together and came out with in my opinion a great album!!! Got to give them credit!!!
Nick said "over produced." That is Uber producer Mutt Lange's forte. Here's just a few of his 80's hit albums; AC/DC - Highway to Hell, 1979 AC/DC - Back in Black, 1980 Foreigner - 4, 1981 [You guys loved "Urgent"] Def Leppard - High 'N' Dry, 1981 AC/DC - For Those About to Rock We Salute You, 1981 Def Leppard - Pyromania, 1983 The Cars - Heartbeat City, 1984 [You guys loved "Drive"] Def Leppard - Hysteria, 1987
This is off Hysteria, a great album, but their greatest album, in my opinion, is Pyromania. Their earlier album, High n Dry is also great, but less commercially known.
This is one of their best songs, video, performance at the highest level, I watched it on MTV. Let's also not forget, on December 31, 1984, drummer Rick Allen was in a car accident in which he lost his left arm. But the band didn't abandon their drummer and get back to work until Allen came up with a custom-designed drum kit that could be played with the feet. Rick Allen's return to the stage took place at the Monsters of Rock festival in 1986 in England.
I'm old enough and lucky enough to have watched them from the beginning of there career, It's their best song, It's perfection! This is top three reaction channel on TH-cam!
Yeah I’m not a die hard Def Leppard fan…but there was no auto tune until 98 so it’s talent to sing that way. Great song if you look at the the lyrics. Their harmonizing is great in my opinion. Motley Crue and Def Leppard had great harmonies I will say. Am I more of a Motley Crue fan…oh God yes..but I appreciate these guys extremely!
This was a huge hit at the time. You couldn't walk into a bar or club without hearing it. Was on the radio all the time. The 80's sound was fun. The 90's went dark and the fun was over.
I think that the over production was because of Rick Allen use of the electric drums. This is their first album where Allen is using the new drum setup with the pedals to compensate for the loss of his arm. This changed the whole sound of the group. You can tell the change from the albums prior the accident and this one post accident.
It’s a great song. In fact, it’s their only #1 song on the billboard hot 100. This album actually has 7 songs released as singles in which 6 of them reached top 20. Animal” (#19), Pour Some Sugar on Me” (#2), Hysteria (#10), “Armageddon It” (#3), “Rocket”(#12) and “Love Bites (#1). It’s their most successful album to date. However, as Nick said it is overproduced. Robert John “Mutt” Lange (Shania Twain’s ex) produced the album along with the previous album Pyromania (1983). That was the album that started their top 40 success with “Photograph”, “Rock Of Ages” and “Foolin”. You should definitely check that album out.
Def Leppard's main producer discovered Shania Twain and was married to her. Given that information, if you ever hear her more pop-rock songs you will think he basically wrote DL songs for Shania to sing.
Dissing the sound and Joes vocals? Cmon this is an absolute banger! Legendary track. One of the best power ballads of all time. Will take these "cheese" over the crap out today! They sound the same in concert, so not just studio sounds. If you want to be blown away listen to Stagefright or Photograph off Pyromania or even White Lightning about Steve Clark's drug and alcohol addiction. Epic track.
Well, this IS Def Leppard's signature sound, which they paid their producer good money to produce. Bangin' hair band, but not for everybody. I love 'em, though. Thanks for your honest reaction.
Guys, you were led astray with your last 2 April Wine songs. PLEASE let them redeem themselves with a huge, great song. "I Like to Rock" As a bonus, there is a double trivia question near the end of the song that you can try to guess. (Do the audio so you get good quality)
You are absolutely correct about April Wine. Here are some more songs (and their album) that no one has ever heard, but are fantastic songs: Doing it Right (Power Play) Enough is Enough (Power Play) Future Tense (Nature of the Beast) Get Ready for Love (First Glance) Hot on the Wheels of Love (First Glance) Silver Dollar (First Glance) Right Down to it (First Glance)
I love Def Leppard. My favourite album is Slang. Their drummer lost his arm in a car accident and instead of replacing him they stuck by him and he learned to play the drum with one arm and foot pedals. Such legends.
Massively huge song for Def Leppard......but also when they got massively soft. I saw the tour in '88 and they played all the hard stuff and this album. They can harmonize just like the album. Mutt Lange took this band to the top 40 and they made it to super star status. I just thought he dated them big time. Even back then.
This was Def Leppard's first album after drummer Rick Allen lost his arm in a car accident, and he did a great job, IMHO. You can notice that, in the video, they never show Rick's left side, where he is missing his arm. The sound was very much Mutt Lange's heavy reverb sound that he used later on Shania Twain's albums.
Late 80's classic. Always brings me back to HS, and makes me think of dances after football games, driving w/friends, working after school & on weekends, and just simpler times. Def Leppard, is such great piece of 80's culture. Still love them! Switching gears drastically- Please please, check out Bobby Bland "Yolanda" Dreamer album Trust me...trust me... 3 minds BLOWN!!! 🤯🤯🤯
Wife Speaking...Saw these guys last year with Motley Crue, Poison and Joan Jett ...as you can imagine it was Absolutely Awesome..My "coming of age music" for sure!!..This was a HUGE hit for them..And they've had many many hits..They are definite Rock Royalty!!! Whoa, Ty I heard that "passion" in your voice...It's interesting you mentioned "overproduced" as Mutt Lange was their Manager and he created MEGA ROCK STARS..Look him up...SCHOOL DANCE FLASHBACKS!!!!!
Armageddon it is my favorite off the hysteria album but my favorite is Pyromania… Rock of Ages, Photograph & Billy’s Got A Gun…. Are my favorites but literally the whole album is fantastic!
Def Leopard's Hysteria album had a total of 7 singles on the Billboards top 100 count down & 6 out of the 7 singles were in the top 10 , something that no album in the last going on 36 years has done & this song Love Bites was the #1 song of the album .
You might be used to autotune and stuff, but this was all the band members and the producer in the chorus (actually singing!) It was a smash hit, women loved it and it is one of the best ballads of the era. The production of the album went on to be mimicked by bands to this day. At the time of this video Def Leppard was the biggest band in the world.
Ce groupe incite au respect, leur drummer a eu un accident de voiture , il en a perdu un bras, et ils l'ont gardé quand même . Juste pour cela, respect
If you like the intersection of 80s Rock and crime drama, you gotta do Ted Nugent’s Little Miss Dangerous. Miami Vice did an episode based on that song!
There are several other tracks on Hysteria that are better than 'Love Bites' You guys already did my favorite (the title track) but I'd also recommend 'Armageddon It' and 'Animal'.
So an album that cost around a million dollars to make sounds "cheap"? The guitars and bass have a distinct reverb because most of them were recorded through a Rockman box. And the drums sound unique because they are electronic drums that the drummer had to learn to use after he lost an arm in a car accident.
What do u expect that’s how he sings exhausting vocal but u know what they still kick ass they sold millions of albums so his voice is pretty badass even know u don’t like it
Mutt Lange , 5th member of several bands... great 80's production. Great album though. You have to remember the drummer lost his arm in an accident and this album was made shortly after. The electric drum pads were focal to the production. It was a breakout triumph and a no.1 album and song. Let it Rock and Foolin are two earlier straight ahead bangers you may enjoy more.
Here's an idea for you. Why don't you do compare reactions? A good start off point could be Action by Def Leppard and Action by Sweet, bearing in mind the Sweets version is the original and was written by them. There's 2 versions of Action by Sweet though, the single version and the album version. Def Leppards version is more like Sweets album version but there isn't much difference between the two other than the intro, but Def Leppards version is more raw In my opinion. Sweet did Action in reply to Queen doing Bohemian Rhapsody.
I always loved and still love this song. It's not soft as far as power ballads go, IT ROCKS! Seriously, it's a cool tune.
Before you judge you must understand that this was the first album that came out after the drummer's accident that left him with One arm!!! They had to work around those obstacles but still stayed together and came out with in my opinion a great album!!! Got to give them credit!!!
It really shows how talented they are to adjust to Rik Allen losing an arm. That’s why the first 3 records are the best.
Let’s give Rik credit for still performing an outstanding job on those drums. True artist!
I've always LOVED this song. Still sounds as great today as when it came out.
Feeling wronged after a breakup? The perfect song.
Nick said "over produced." That is Uber producer Mutt Lange's forte. Here's just a few of his 80's hit albums;
AC/DC - Highway to Hell, 1979
AC/DC - Back in Black, 1980

Def Leppard - High 'N' Dry, 1981
AC/DC - For Those About to Rock We Salute You, 1981
Def Leppard - Pyromania, 1983
The Cars - Heartbeat City, 1984 [You guys loved "Drive"]
Def Leppard - Hysteria, 1987
Hard to believe you guys haven't done "Pour Some sugar On Me". An 80s rock anthem. Def Leppard was a great band.
ate that song but love def leopards earlier stuff
This is off Hysteria, a great album, but their greatest album, in my opinion, is Pyromania. Their earlier album, High n Dry is also great, but less commercially known.
High and dry rocks! And the song "High and Dry"
High n Dry is the best
I can't believe you don't love this song or his voice 😮 I have lyrics from this song on my forearm
This is one of their best songs, video, performance at the highest level, I watched it on MTV. This sucks is for old people
You guys need to check out their 1st three albums. They were much more hard rock back then.
Wasted
Too Late For Love
Let It Go
Another Hit and Run
Lady Strange
Answer to The Master
Stagefright
Mirror Mirror
All rockers!
Couldn’t agree more. It Don’t Matter from the first record.
Creo que se portan como unos niños ,y no saben de una banda tan genial como Def Leppard, estoy seguro que ninguno de los tres sabe cantar 😤😤😡😡😡😡
I'm old enough and lucky enough to have watched them from the beginning of there career, It's their best song, It's perfection! This is top three reaction channel on TH-cam!
This was their only #1 hit on the top 100 charts ever.
One of my favorites from that decade. I have never gotten tired of this song.
Yeah I’m not a die hard Def Leppard fan…but there was no auto tune until 98 so it’s talent to sing that way. Great song if you look at the the lyrics. Their harmonizing is great in my opinion. Too Late For Love, Rock of Ages, Photograph, Bringin’ on the Heartbreak

Damn Yankees- high enough

The overproduced thing is horseshit. That is all modern music is today is produced. No one says it.
I do know Steve Clark wrote the lyrics after him and his Fiance broke up...its a great song...
I’m a big eighties rock fan…..surprisingly enough….my favorite def Lep song is this.
Def Leppard's main producer discovered Shania Twain and was married to her. Given that information, if you ever hear her more pop-rock songs you will think he basically wrote DL songs for Shania to sing.
Def Leppard … perfection.
I saw these guys in 1983 after releasing Pyromania, and they rocked out! Great concert, great times!
Love this whole Hysteria album! I wore out 3 Hysteria cassettes...I can feel my then 18 year old heart breaking all over again. ❤🔥
I hope you’re a girl
DL has a lot of ballads and you guys have pulled two so far. They rock, you just need to hit the right song. Keep going with them and you'll find one.
Dissing the sound and Joes vocals? Cmon this is an absolute banger! Legendary track. One of the best power ballads of all time. Will take these "cheese" over the crap out today! I agree with everything you posted.

Nature of the Beast is a great record. No skips.
I love Def Leppard. My favourite album is Slang. Their drummer lost his arm in a car accident and instead of replacing him they stuck by him and he learned to play the drum with one arm and foot pedals. Such legends.
Hysteria; Photograph; Rock of Ages; Too Late for Love; Rocket
Take out Hysteria, keep the rest.
@@jgsrhythm100 and add On Through the Night and High N' Dry
@@jgsrhythm100 Nah, I'll keep it in there seeing as I like it and so do a lot of other people.

Thsts why they have a negative opinion. Over ptofldiced heavy handed 80,'s production.
Rick losing his arm had nothing to do with the cheesiness of this song...Joe made it chessey. I agree with ya, Nick.

I love this song... Hysteria is a massive album.
This is one of my favorites!! 💜 Oh by the way ty is nice on the eyes! You are a pretty good-looking men and pretty cool too! 😎💯
You guys would dig Wasted by them, one of my favourite Def Leppard tunes!
Killer song
On Through The Night is their best stuff. Definitely not over-produced lol
Great song and great band!

Makes me think of "Love hurts" by Nazareth...which was done so much better than "Love bites."
This came way before Pokémon so Pokémon got it from Def Lepard
As mentioned in the video lol 👍

Well I like it ! their lead guitarist is awesome .They are from Sheffield England & a great bunch of lads .
Def Leopard's Hysteria album had a total of 7 singles on the Billboards top 100 count down & 6 out of the 7 singles were in the top 10 , something that no album in the last going on 36 years has done & this song Love Bites was the #1 song of the album .

Classic rock at its best
The harmonies in Def Leppard songs are top notch
One of Def Leopard’s best song! 😎🎸

Great guitar great mood great melody… But would never be released today!
This is one of the greatest songs ever.
This 🎵 song is fire 🔥
The way it it drops down in the slow parts. It's too good❤
Anything on Hysteria is worth reacting to. Just pick one.
"Let's Get Rocked" is a fun song you should do next by them!
If you want real def Leppard, you must get it from the high and dry album, the best, loaded with fire
That's all well and good, but when will Emerson, Lake, Palmer? You haven't had progressive rock in a long time.
I was in HIGH SCHOOL, great memories, MAKE OUT song 🎵 😂😊
Love Hysteria! It is more library than playlist for me, too, but I still really enjoy it.
Actually, I love this song. JMO Thanks guys for the reaction.
It's a Robert Lange production, so it is indeed over-produced.
He produced their two biggest albums. So it’s good they had him 😆
Not bad for a 1 armed drummer!
Photograph is still my favorite
There are several other tracks on Hysteria that are better than 'Love Bites' You guys already did my favorite (the title track) but I'd also recommend 'Armageddon It' and 'Animal'.
what is interesting about this band the drummer only has one arm . He lost the other in an accident.

Mutt Lange is the genius behind Def Leppard. He ended up marrying Shania Twain and produce all of her albums until their divorce.
