The drummer, Rick Allen lost his arm in an auto accident in 1984. The band wasn't going to continue on without him. That is true loyalty. Once he recovered they developed this electronic drum kit that has a series of foot pedals that he uses with his left foot that mimic what he used to play with his left arm. Such a great inspiration and great band.
Steve Clark was with them first since the begining of the band for the most part and did 90 percent of song writing and solos. He passed away in 1991 and then Vivian came in and took his spot. RIP Steve Clark. Gone but never forgotten. We love you. Steve was Def Lepard.
Sorry but I cannot completely agree. The 60’s through the 80’s were the best because the 60’s had so an influence on the late 70’s and 80’s that it cannot be compared. Damn near everyone after he 60’s were inspired in one way or another from that decade.
Teslas first big tour was the opening act for Def Leppard when i saw them on this tour, both were SO good. High N Dry, Pyromania, Hysteria was a kick-ass run of albums in the 80s... the place went crazy for Ricks drum solo... what a story coming back from that injury... he and his wife do a lot of work with those who have suffered from a traumatic injury... good stuff from these guys.
I met them at a mall at the peak of their fame in the early 90s. They were just shopping for clothes like normal everyday people. Super cool to meet my favorite band in person. I was going to their concert the next day and asked them to sign my ticket . Strangely it was the first time they'd seen their own concert ticket.
I've been loving your Boston reactions and wanted to see Def Leppard. Cool fact: Phil Collen used the Rockman by Tom Scholz for the entire Hysteria album.
Hysteria was far and away the biggest selling CD from Def Leppard!! It generated 6 top 40 hits, including 4 top 10s(this one, Love Bites, Pour Some Sugar On Me, and Armageddon It)!!
In the video and on the Hysteria Album that is Steve Clark playing the Guitar...Phil Collin is also playing Guitar...Vivian Campbel came in after Steve Clark passed away in the early 90's...
Rick the drummer lost his left arm in a car accident and accommodations were made for him to continue with the band. He is one of the top drummers even today. I've seen them twice in concert and his drum solos are nothing but stellar. Rock on Rick! By the way I'm 64 and love my rock!
Great reaction!! Phil Collen, one of the guitarists, said he recorded most of the guitar parts through a music box into the mix. As others mentioned, Steve Clark was the other guitarist on the song and in this video. HIGHLY RECOMMEND "Armageddon It" from this album!!!!
This whole album was created and produced using Boston tech. The same tech invented by Tom Scholz. That's why it sounds so good. Joe Satriani uses it as well. Among many others in the 80s.
I was not even alive when this album came out, but this song's guitar tones give me this feeling of nostalgia. It makes me feel like taking some joyride down some country roads on a sunny day.
I'm forever grateful to have seen DL, on the Hysteria tour!! Next to Journey (that is Classic Journey), they were the greatest concert I've ever seen!!! And to have seen Steve Clark (before Vivian Campbell), who was my favorite!!
Had the pleasure of attending 2 of their concerts back in the day...they are outstanding LIVE!! Also, the audience was predominately female...worth repeating...outstanding!
I saw Def Leppard for the In The Round Hysteria tour. I was in the 7th row. So much fun. Was lucky to see Steve Clark play before he passed away. Back when a person could afford 7th row tickets.
Here you got to see the terror twins both lead guitarists, everyone loved them, unfortunately Steve drank himself to death and that's when the got Vivian Campbell. I saw them twice and they are great live, they have a very deep catalogue, Deep \purple were my first favorite band and I now have a second favorite.
Keep in mind that there is dual guitar action here, steven Clark 🙏 rip brilliant guitarist and unique player does the ping ping parts and Phil Collins the tech guitarist has the more rolling rock sound ... this was unusual in a rock band of their era. Steven, definitely broke the mold as a phenomenal guitar player and Collins as his wing man ... just wow 👌 👏.... incredible. I miss steven clark..the rock world cries for that loss. Phill really misses him and it must have been so crushing emotionally to complete Steven's part on that next album, to play like Clark which in not his style,
Saw Def Leppard on the hysteria tour, what an amazing show they put on. The stage was in the center of the arena with fans on all sides!! Rick Allen’s drum kit rotated slowly for the entire concert and the band members took turns on which side of the stage they played on so all fans got a chance to see them!! I feel in love with the music long before this album and prefer the edgier early albums, not as over produced as their later stuff!! ❤🥁🎸
Vivian was still in Dio during this, he joined Def Leppard in 92 after the death of their original guitarist Steve Clark. Burned out meter is Pour Some Sugar on Me, but not this one
Love these guys! Btw, Vivian Campbell is not in this video; the guitar player with the straight, long blond is Steve Clark. The other guitar player is "Phil" Collen, not "Paul". Please react to more Def Leppard.
I actually come crom same city as Def Leppard, Sheffield and he's a massive Sheffield United supporter I met him during my time working for the football club
They filmed the video while playing back the song at double speed, to get that dream-like slow motion feel. But it does make some of the dance moves look a bit silly. (They should probably have moved in half time instead).
One of The Greatest Rock Bands Of The 80s Music Decade.Remember this band took at least 4-years off.Imagine if they would've ,been if not taken those years off waiting for thier drummer to recover from his car accident.Loyalty At It's FINEST!👍🎵🔥
Vivian Campbell didn't play on this album. He joined them after guitarist Steve Clark died. By the way, please react to Song And Emotion by Tesla -- they dedicated that song to Steve Clark.
Before Def Leppard became an 80s Arena/Pop Metal band like Bon Jovi, they were a damn good Metal band. They had more of an AC/DC sound. Willing to bet none of you heard "Let It Go" from their Hard Rock masterpiece, High N' Dry. Give it a spin!
Great, great song from a fantastic band...I listen to this song and watch this video often, just relaxing and makes me feel good...this band always has such incredible backing vocals, everyone of their songs
I was going through your playlist and was shocked that you hadn't heard "YEBBA - My Mind (Sofar NYC)" her name is Abbey Smith, and she is another vocalist that will 🤯and she has a pretty good start on her collection of great music. Definitely worth going down this rabbit 🐰hole 🕳guys looking forward to hearing what you think 🤔 🤔
I saw def leppard in concert years ago. This is actually a personal favorite of mine, this and their song "Heaven is " off their Adrenalize album. My only complaint was about their live show was that they sped up this song!!! I imagine it was to make room in the show for other songs. Smh
Great reaction but come on guys where's some more Def Leppard? Time for some more DL reactions! Check out Photograph, White Lightning, Stagefright, Gods of War, Me and My Wine, On through the Night, Wasted. All cracking tracks from the boys!
A few years ago I stumbled upon a song that was in a genre of music I like but had little exposure to...bluegrass...the song is called Ruby and it's a live performance from the early 70's by the Osbourne Brothers. It doesn't matter who I show this to...everyone get's addicted. This one is something truly special and I can't imagine ever getting bored with it. I don't think there are any reactions to it on youtube and I think you will thank yourself.
Hey guys. Cool reactions. Here's a dare for you. Try to keep your brains inside your craniums while listening to Deep Purple do Child in Time live 1970. I bet you can't. All the best from Jacko in England
Fun reaction !! Of the myriad of recommendations you receive, I recommend “Prelude 12/Suite Madame Blue” by Styx. It’s from 1976 and was their ode to the USA for its 200th birthday. It’s still very relevant to the state of our country 46 years later. 👍
you need to check out hit and run,, the Band got Glamish after Pyromania so yeah check the High n dry album Yeah vivian is a Badass he also played with white snake too
I miss this era so much. 😢 The women were hot, the music was great, people connected more than they do now because there was no phones, no computers, no video games. Just go cruising and listen to loud music. You see someone you knew at a hang out spot, you stop and hang out. Nowadays people don't meet people or hang out in person anymore. Life felt like life back then.
I started with Me and My Wine. Then of course one of the best albums of all time Pyromania. Unfortunately the bands success started thaking a toll. Hysteria while being a great album was much more commercial. 🌠🌠
Yeah, they were a great rock band with great albums and then this album came out which was very commercial and totally pop. I didn’t like it then and I still don’t like it now especially considering how good they were before this. People ate it up though and it has to be their greatest success, but to me that just determines what’s popular, not necessarily what’s good. To their credit though, I respect them for sticking by Rick Allen after his accident and Rick for his strength of spirit and his success at totally reinventing the way he played drums.
The album Hysteria and it's more pop/polished sound doesn't resonate very well with a lot of Def Leppard fans as you can tell from the comments. I personally quite like it, tho pyromania is still pretty objectively better :-)
My favorite Def Leppard is their first two albums and most of Pyromania. After that it got a bit mild and over-produced for me BUT all the ladies loved it. So I definitely went to the shows! 😊
The 70s and 80s was the best music ever created.
So agree
Yup💯🫡
True, but there are a few good new bands. Check out " I don't live here anymore" by War On Drugs. It actually has this Hysteria vibe
Sorry but I cannot completely agree. The 60’s through the 80’s were the best because the 60’s had so an influence on the late 70’s and 80’s that it cannot be compared. Damn near everyone after he 60’s were inspired in one way or another from that decade.
This is a beautiful song...
The Hysteria tour was my first concert. They had green lasers, that was cool at the time.
Heck, who am I kidding, green lasers are still cool.

Def Leppard as one of my all-time favorites
I've been loving your Boston reactions and wanted to see Def Leppard. Cool fact: Phil Collen used the Rockman by Tom Scholz for the entire Hysteria album.
My FAVORITE all time band!! And STILL performing after all of the tragedies they’ve been through & comeback!🥰🎶
Sorry I misspelled Vivian's last name...typo's
Steve Clark was the main guitar player until 1991, then Viv came in. RIP Steve Clark.
Saw them in concert 🎶 up in Boston early 90’s and they had the best Pyrotechnics 🧨 show ever!
Rick the drummer lost his left arm in a car accident and accommodations were made for him to continue with the band. He is one of the top drummers even today. I've seen them twice in concert and his drum solos are nothing but stellar. Rock on Rick! By the way I'm 64 and love my rock!

Worth delving into. Rock of ages, and, Photograph are a must.
Its guitar effects on this i believe John Mutt Lange had them use 11 different guitar and effects on this one song.
Cool song!
This whole album was created and produced using Boston tech. The same tech invented by Tom Scholz. That's why it sounds so good. Joe Satriani uses it as well. Among many others in the 80s.
His 'Rockman' effects pedal was a big part of the production of this record.
I was not even alive when this album came out, but this song's guitar tones give me this feeling of nostalgia. It makes me feel like taking some joyride down some country roads on a sunny day.
One of the best.
Rick Allen is literally a phenomenal artist! He paints & actually has his work shown in Art Galleries! There’s a video of his interview & showing it
I'm forever grateful to have seen DL, on the Hysteria tour!!
I agree. They were one of the rare bands who sounded as good live as they did on their recordings. They really put on a great show.
You guys are my favorite reaction show.
I live in the 502.
My favorite band and favorite song from that band! Rock on!
One of the greatest rock song ever recorded.. Expecting More of their reaction💪🏻
I saw Def Leppard for the In The Round Hysteria tour. I was in the 7th row. So much fun. Was lucky to see Steve Clark play before he passed away. Back when a person could afford 7th row tickets.

Steve Clark was going for orchestrated guitars, like an orchestra of notes. Classically trained guitarist. Huge loss
This was the first CD I had as a kid.
Your guys' commentary this time was especially entertaining and frolicsome. Love this song too ❤
Saw Def Leppard on the hysteria tour, what an amazing show they put on. The stage was in the center of the arena with fans on all sides!! Please check out Bringin’ On The Heartbreak performed live (In the Round In your Face). They are AMAZING live!!!
This song relaxes me
Rock of ages a must boys
this video was before Vivian Campbell, this had guitarist Steve Clark before he drank himself to death...
Knowing what you guys seem to like, some early Def Leppard would be right up your alley.
Wasted is a personal favourite of mine!
Steve Clark was still alive when they did this song... And this was Steve's riff
Love these guys! Btw, Vivian Campbell is not in this video; the guitar player with the straight, long blond is Steve Clark. The other guitar player is "Phil" Collen, not "Paul". Please react to more Def Leppard.
Yeah,I think he died in 91 and Viv joined the following year
Sheffield was also the home town of Human League, Joe Cocker and Jarvis Cocker of Pulp.
Great driving song!
I'm a fan of High N Dry and On Through the Night early era, however THIS is the best song they ever wrote.
I actually come crom same city as Def Leppard, Sheffield and he's a massive Sheffield United supporter I met him during my time working for the football club
So happy! One of my all time favorite songs! Love the break down at the end at 11:54.. ❤ Rick Allen shines in this song!!!
Bbq sauce (ie, honey bbq) = savory/sweet
Was fortunate to have seen them in 1978 before the drummer Rick Allen lost his arm in a car crash. He was thrown from his Corvette.
They filmed the video while playing back the song at double speed, to get that dream-like slow motion feel. But it does make some of the dance moves look a bit silly. (They should probably have moved in half time instead).

Great, great song from a fantastic band...I listen to this song and watch this video often, just relaxing and makes me feel good...this band always has such incredible backing vocals, everyone of their songs
1987 was definitely a good year for music, and it was changing to be less typically 80's sounding
One of the first cassettes I bought as a kid. The whole album is killer.
KIX... COLD SHOWER..1985..
brilliant
I saw def leppard in concert years ago. This is actually a personal favorite of mine, this and their song "Heaven is " off their Adrenalize album. My only complaint was about their live show was that they sped up this song!!!

Guys! A great cover of Hysteria is done by the Iron Cross band.
A few years ago I stumbled upon a song that was in a genre of music I like but had little exposure to...bluegrass...the song is called Ruby and it's a live performance from the early 70's by the Osbourne Brothers. Rick Allen is the Hero of Def Lep
The whole album was overproduced to hell and back and it’s perfect!
The ping ping sound is steven Clark who wears his guitar too low.
Hey guys. Cool reactions. Here's a dare for you. Try to keep your brains inside your craniums while listening to Deep Purple do Child in Time live 1970. I bet you can't. All the best from Jacko in England

he also played with white snake too
I recommend: "Love Bites", "Animal" and "Two steps behind". Thanks!
Why dont you just recommend they stick actual dogshit in their ears?
Their debut album was great. You can keep everything else.
More deftoness!! "Knife party" is The Best drumer i heard
Kettle Popcorn! Sweet and Salty… the other word for savory ❤
Btw the whole album Hysteria is amazing.
Im looking everywhere for that lost record. Powermania. its probably insane good😅
whatever genre you wanna call it,
definitely one of the BEST album ever recorded.
There isn't synth in this song - its got 8 guitar tracks, and they recorded the verses one string at a time then pieced them together while mixing
React to 'Love Bites', the greatest power ballad of all time.
The drummer only played with one arm
L.A GUNS... OVER THE EDGE.
They were great just like AC/DC. Almost every song is banger.
In that time is Steve Clark, not Vivian ...
Do “Gods of War” off this album. You guys will love it!
BLUE MURDER...RIOT..
This album is when their production became super slick, good album but it's no High n Dry
Yes it is, in a slightly different way.
Long haired rocker dudes are so Hot, I can't bring myself to say "Fire" lol anyway, love this pick. #LongLiveThe80s
Live in the round in your face sounds so much better. Steve clark's riffs are terrifics.
7&7 - Turnpike Troubadours
CINDERELLA....BACK HOME AGAIN..
Vivian Campbell was not in the band when this song came ourt. Steve Ckark is the guitarist!!! RIP Steve!
Maiden Maiden Maiden!!!
I started with Me and My Wine. Then of course one of the best albums of all time Pyromania. Unfortunately the bands success started thaking a toll. Hysteria while being a great album was much more commercial. 🌠🌠

C'om on guys the song os about the drummer coming back with them!!! Read between the lines?
The album Hysteria and it's more pop/polished sound doesn't resonate very well with a lot of Def Leppard fans as you can tell from the comments.
I personally quite like it, tho pyromania is still pretty objectively better :-)

Vivian didnt join till a few years later
Always enjoyed Pour Some Sugar On Me
These youtubers have a lot to learn.Tony
