I actually pulled the wrong hotend fan from my stash for the picture. I actually installed a 24v 40mm RGB fan. Make sure you use a 24v fan, link below.

Been getting a lot of heat-creep on my prints, the most likely cause is the 30mm stock cooling fan. I decided to upgrade the cooling fan from a 30mm to a 40mm RGB. Why not RGB? RGB makes everything faster and better!

Yeah, it is easy, cheap, and from the looks of it fixed my heat creeping issue. The RGB adds a little bit of fun to it 👍

Yes! No fire = success! Pretty sad if you think about it 😂. I had to cheat to get Bear interested, he wanted nothing to do with being filmed last night. Think his popularity has gotten to his head 😉. There might have been something he wanted in the vase 🤔

Dusted off my old CR6-SE printer after not using it for about three years! Will give this a shot as the original fan housing got damaged (melted touching a Micro Swiss hotend I just installed) & I had to break part of it. Unfortunately, I had some trouble with the Micro Swiss and just bought a replacement Creality hotend. I found my PLA appearing not to feed was due to the Z offset somehow getting changed to zero! I might swap hotends and see if the Micro Swiss actually works now.
@tripodsgarage Great video. I’ve been learning 3d printing during last couple years. Do you think the heat creep issues may have been contributed to by upgrade to better micro swiss all metal hotend and using higher temp materials? The smaller fan couldn’t cool down heat sink portion of hotend so heat creep?
John, Thanks for the link to PCBway. I'm getting a quote for an aluminum part that I 3D printed.. I converted the STL file to an IGES and submitted that. A metal version would be stronger and more heat resistant. Will let you know how it works out.

#Creality - Maybe you should send Tripod one of your new printers to review? Or do some type of endorsement? He has made well over a dozen videos showcasing your products, yet you never offered him anything? Is it because he is an honest reviewer, and you only want positive videos of your products?

Got to love the Clockspring models. It takes me 5hrs 3min at 0.2mm layer height and I have made a stack of those in rainbow silk PLA that the wife keeps giving away. It passes the Bear test but is the wife happy? Nice video John.
During the droid building series. That heat creep shelved (well floored) the printer. I have printed 6 models with zer heat creep after replacing the 30mm fan. Yeah, I am a big fan of Clockspring. This vase took 7hr 40min at .12. The cleanest vase print I have ever done. It passed Bear’s quality control and the wife loves it 👍. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@TripodsGarage I have had a couple of heat creep blockages using silk PLA and already have a couple of 40mm on its way - not RGB unfortunately.
Happy to see you got the printer running for more than 10 minutes without catastrophic failure. Still think a upgrade to onboard fire suppression would be a wothy upgrade...lol. Both my hot end and parts cooling fans on my CR6SE came with the failed out of the box option! Literally not a single print before bearing failure. As if they could ever call a sleeve an actual bearing. Those Winsinn 40mm RGB fans are not that much better quality wise but at least they are quieter and seem to cool as good if not better than the stock fan. From personal experience expect out of the 4 pack, 2 will fall in 4 to 6 months.
My hot end fan started making whining noises after around a month and Creality did send me a replacement - eventually, after originally shipping me a motherboard cooling fan by mistake. I have 40mm Orion 24v on their way though so this video is fortuitous.
Yeah, it has been running for about a week! Must be a personal record for me? I should put in a argon gas fire suppression system, but I would be afraid it would deploy while myself or Bear is in the garage ;-). My hotend fan bearing died within a week of owning the machine, was in my review video. Yeah, I know the Winsinn fans are not the best, however it has lasted about two week so far! That is one week longer than the stock fan did. I always get the 4 pack as well. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@TripodsGarage John you always have something interesting to report and like I've said before I respect your integrity. No candy coating to sweeten a bitter pill. Must be a personal record for you... a whole week...WOW! :0 Yeah argon would be cool but you or the dog defiantly wouldn't want to be in there if it ever went off. I have considered adapting a fire suppression system like we use in the race cars in the print farm. Maybe someday I'll get to it along with all the other printing related projects...lol. Right now making more space for the new incoming printers is a priority. The performance and dB on the Winsinn fans are fine however they just don't seem to last for me. Another problem that I have with most fan manufactures is the lack of published spec's! Even though since there is no industry standardized testing procedures and I take all of them with a grain of salt. It still would be nice to get a full set of published spec's (as a base line) when seeking out replacements. Makes it next to impossible. Only the more expensive brands seem to bother with full spec's and even then some are lacking. Ever try to even get the spec for a Creality fan...lol. good luck. At the very least I want CFM, Static Pressure, dB, RPM and MTBF. Guess that's asking for to much?

@@charliebonavia4600 - Thanks Charlie. I realized about 6 months ago I needed to step up my game a little more, less face time, better editing, and better voice overs. I used to do the voice overs after work. I now typically save them for the evenings or the weekends when I have had a little more time to relax. Also having a beer or two just before doesn’t hurt 😉. Did you use a nozzle instead of the push connector for the ptfe tube ?
if i print the adapter with PETG, can i still print PETG or should i stick with PLA?

Those are the same fans that slice uses! They are loud but they can push some air usually. I don’t know about on those hotends tho
It is at least quieter than the 30mm stock fan, and so far has last twice as long - LOL

Nice video going through them now learning as much as I can. One thing I can't understand is why on earth so many 3d printers use the bog standard janky stupid allen keys? For the sake of the lord give your body and mind a break and get some small allen drivers like the ones used for radio control cars and planes.
I use the Allen Keys supplied with the printer for most builds, and mods. Mostly because, that is what people will have. I have a nice collection of Allen Keys and electric screwdrivers. I miss building RC cars.

How long did it take you to print that vase 🏺 at 0.12 layer high? and does the 40 mm fan cool faster?
7hr 40min total print time. The 40mm cooling fan is only for the hotend, not the part cooler.

Why did you use the 12v fan ? Stock is 24v.
You were the first one to notice 👍. I actually grabbed the wrong fan from my stockpile. The description was updated, to reflect the mistake.
@@TripodsGarage I had noticed they offered the fan in a 24v option. Thanks for the info... I think I'll do the same to mine.
@@NAV3DP So I put the 24v on my machine and was not impressed with the speed. I think I might use the 12v version actually .
Quick question are these fans generally quieter or it is better to try something like Noctua?

I didn't recommend any specific fan for this reason. There are a lot of choices out there. The bigger the fan, typically the quieter they run. I wanted to improve the heat creep issue I was having, more than how quiet the fan is. @@sabotage3d It is my understanding that grounding issue was with the Kickstarter and early machines. I received a new CR6SE machine back in April, still in the box. If it is worth while to my viewers I can do a comparison video? However, I have a few videos that will be ahead of that one. So we are looking to be about a month out.

I was wondering how this print would work if I printed this on a resin printer?
I am sure it will look amazing! My resin printer is rather small in comparison to today's offerings.

Those rgb fans are not meant for long prints
Been running in my CR6SE since then. Also my Raspberry Pi has been running them 24/7 for 6 months without an issue.
