    Bought the digital antenna, very pleased with the picture clarity and number of channels received. Thanks for the advise.😊😊

    Actually, "digital antenna" is a distinction that doesn't exist. Though the frequencies have been shuffled around since 2009, the means of transmission are no different. That means, the Channel Master on your roof from 1985 may still work just fine. A single rabbit ear set won't work, unless the frequency is really low and the transmitter is close-by.
    Also there is no such thing as an HD antenna. That turns out to be a marketing buzzword. If your antenna pulls in RF 30 (etc.), you'll get full definition. Manufacturers want you to buy something "new" you may not need

      I still have my Channel Master 4221 which got plucked off someone's roof. The connectors are 300-ohm, so it's probably quite old. The performance is similar to today's "ULTRAtenna 60," except I didn't pay $100. I just rebuilt the bent elements.

    After you scan antenna channels how you stop the scanning from switching over to cable scanning?
    Do you cut the TV off and back on

    Hi John and Nicole. I have coaxial running to all my rooms from a communication hub in my attic. Is it possible to put a single antenna in my attic (where power is also available), split it, and connect to the coaxial cables running to my bedrooms, living room, and garage?

      @mcmdm50, in MY experience, yes I can. With just a couple of oops. I bought the Mohu Leaf. I can get NBC and CBS, all local and national programming. The only thing I can get from ABC is national and local news. No programs. And the only other thing I can’t get is Animal Planet. But that’s ok. The program I was watching got canceled. But I get more channels than I’ll ever be able to watch. So, I’m happy. As I said, this is my experience with my tvs.

      Hi Debbie. Look for the coaxial input on the back of your TV. It looks like a cable jack. Then screw in the coaxial cable that should have come with your antenna into it. One end of the cable goes into the back of the antenna and the other goes into the back of your TV :)

    What if my (old)house has an real old antenna on the roof already? Should I just leave it be or will it help the digital one I connect to the tv?

    • @wesrxnumber
      @wesrxnumber ปีที่แล้ว

      My old antenna was from the 1960's and it was able to bring crystal clear over the air digital signals. The picture was better than the same channel from cable.

    Can you get stations without internet service to your house? Thanks

    • @FrugalRules
      @FrugalRules  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're independent of each other, so you can get local stations without internet service. You won't be able to access any streaming services, but an antenna will pick up anything OTA local to your area.

    Question, I would need 1 antenna for each of my 4 TV’s unless I go with the outdoor antenna that would be located outside my home preferably on my roof?

    Can you record with an antenna? Does it support a DVR?

      Yes, it's possible to record and have an antenna. This video goes over a couple of the top options: th-cam.com/video/VrfQol2kTII/w-d-xo.html

  • @RickPaquin

    A little misleading. There is no such thing as a "digital" antenna. ANY VHF/UHF antenna will work fine. Your grandfather may have an old one in their attic, which will work fine provided it's UHF/VHF. Flat indoor antennas don't work well for VHF and many areas have VHF channels. Good Old rabbit ears have much better performance than flat antennas, especially for hard to get VHF signals that may be in your area.
    Placing the antenna outside is far superior to any indoor antenna. I live in a city but the transmitters are 13 mi. away from the city. Indoor antenna's don't work well at all in my area. If you have a lot of trees, you'll also have more challenges, especially when the wind blows. Outside antennas do NOT have to go very high. And, if you have trees, your reception will be best with an antenna at a lower level where the strongest signals are actually below the thick foliage of the trees.
    Don't guess and don't assume where it will work best. FIND the best signal using a signal meter available on most TV's BEFORE putting up an outdoor antenna. Using 2 cell phones and a video call, you can position one phone in front of the TV screen with the signal meter as you use the other phone in the yard to monitor the signal level on your TV and position your antenna for the highest signal strength. I have a LOT of trees. My best signal is found at 9 ft elevation and at a specific location.
