In reality, this is what we had to do in the 80's to unscramble cable TV! It had to do with nulling the horizontal tag or something. The cable makes a really high-Q LC notch filter so is super important to get the measurements exact. I don't remember using components, just coax wires, but the tech is all different now. Regardless, it was real, and we were able to watch all the scrambled channels without paying (i.e. Superchannel, first choice, nudie channels etc)
In the time that it took him to make his antenna, I went next door to Walgreens and spent $14.99 on a Clear Tv antenna. I am getting right around 60 channels. The best part is that i didn't have to build it, it already came assembled.
Back in the late seventies and early eighties when pay channels such as HBO and Showtime were broadcast over the airwaves and descrambled at the customers house, my dad and several friends who were in the radio/television broadcasting business made directional antenna that resembled a M1919 air cooled machine gun that had discs as heat sinks on the barrel and the antenna was wired to a box that was for tuning and fine tuning a signal and depending on what one wanted to watch the antenna was pivoted to point at the area the broadcasting dish was at and just fine tune the signal until it was clear. Worked for years. I think he had that setup before he first bought a vhs player.
I remember those. There was a single tall antenna on top of the highest building in the center of the city. Your house receive antenna needed to be high enough for SHF highly directional line - of - sight reception. The HBO station went around in cars to find illegal antennas to sue for payment or Cease-and-Desist orders. Ham radio operators working SHF (900MHz & 1.2GHz slow scan TV) were sued & had to go to court to explain why their antennas were not receiving HBO (~4.1GHz). 🤓

We live near the mountains outside Asheville, NC. No antenna of any design will pick up stations here. When we lived in Raleigh, we had to install an outside FM antenna on a high mast to get UNC-TV because we were in a slight valley.
@@InnovationPlusOne If you have a bulb like that and if you don't break it, taking it apart. If the bulb contains that. If you have shrink wrap tubing. If you have a soldering gun. I you have solder. If you have coax splitters and connectors. If you have a spare USB cable. Not saying what you did is false in anyway. Years ago, I bought a HDTV card for a PC and made my own antenna using plywood and coat hangers. Worked. I mounted it on a pole and stuck it in the ground. Once you have to search out and purchase some of that, it becomes uneconomical. I'm in the US. I used a RCA "HD" antenna. Plastic and was maybe $15 US. I mounted it on a camera tripod. I attached it to something called a HD Homerun made by a company called Silicondust. It lets you convert the signal and run it through your router. From there, TV, phone, tablets, PCs can pick it up via an App. I hooked up the HD Homerun to a WIFI repeater (now using a mesh cell node). I placed it upstairs in an unused bedroom. Facing a wall. I pick up over 40 HD TV signals. With a better antenna I could probably pick up another 10-15 channels. Right now, I can pick up stations up to 30 miles away. If I move the antenna I can pick up channels 60 miles away but lose a lot of the ones within 30 miles.
1. I didn't know that you could use a shielded cable as an antenna. 2. I don't see how putting 5V to a passive splitter does anything. Can you please explain how this works. Can I just use a coat hanger?
Does this work identically to the antennas you can buy at Wallyworld, etc?? You know, the ones that have a flat panel and power booster that plugs into the electrical wall outlet??
feeling cold in the winter, do this and your sure to have endless warmth for at least a coupl of hours. Thanks for showing me how to start a fire with no kinling
What coax did you use? Is there a specific wattage bulb you got the capacitor from, Or well any do? How many OHMS was the capacitor? Where I live, out in the country, there is no cable and I can't afford satellite, SO, I built a fractal antenna that I put up about 30 FT in the air. Seems to work OK, but is somewhat BI-Directional. Anyway, I do get 50+ "Channels" without a booster, but I am wondering if this would do me any good?
Thank you, my friend, for raising this question, I used a 75 ohm coaxial cable and a 10-1000pF capacitor can be used.❤❤ Meanwhile, dipole antennas can have different functions in different places
Experimentally I used a 'butterfly' screen reflector in my area which is quite hilly, mounted on a variable height mast, and it made no difference at all.
If you run this genius invention with a built in circuit breaker it keeps you fit keep getting up resetting it, I would avoid using it with a expensive flat screen but great for a 80's portable you found in the garage, as well as a built in trip switch I would use a RCD🎉 plug while viewing the punk group The Sparks on the portable😢😢😢.Mark.
A cable worker told me one time that in some big cities they drive around looking for coffee cans pointing out an upper window to find cables needing repairs. People would shoot holes in the cable line with a BB gun to create enough leaks to rig a coffee can and put a cable in it point it at the leak to get free reception from cable .
Such BS. 1) the way the SIM is wired, it is being powered by 5V; max is 3.3 So if the SIM was good, it won't be after you plug it in. 2) the third wire is connected to the I/O pin which in the initial power on state would be in the high Z state (no output). It will not actually output anything until a command sequence is sent using a pin that is not connected to drive the clock. Besides if it did output anything it would be a digital signal, not RF analog required for an antenna input. This is a total joke.
Can we get a ready-made kit? And does this work in all countries? Which channels we can catch through this kit? I mean satellite channels or locally broadcast channels or what?? Please do inform
Videos such as this where the instructor uses a razor blade knife.....and still has all of their fingertips! Luckily I have a universal wire stripper and gloves. I made something like this and yes, it actually worked.
You're not really unlocking anything since those are all Over The Air channels but you did make a pretty cool antenna. Although a store bought one will probably pick up a stronger signal. Cool none the less
If you are REALLY SMART,.. you should use those same lengths of wire, to connect that "ANTENNA" up to a DVD player, for the best programming!! Then use the DVD player's remote for ALL your chosen 'programming'!! Guarranteed to work, when TV is located at 30.5 inches above the floor!

Before cable went digital, there were two ways to block a channel. Either with a negative or positive notch filter. The negative filter blocked a channel completely and would have to be removed to receive the channel. The positive filter was put in place to remove interference sent down the line from the broadcaster. This setup seems to mimic that. But I know of no place that still uses it.
Can someone answer me on this The country you come from still uses a regular antenna plug to watch TV because this antenna, as in the video, it can open all Digital channels, because in Denmark, where I live, we can't use an antenna anymore because all programs have become digital... so if I make such an Antenna as in the video, I would then be able to watch digital programs without having to pay for them again
Back in the early 80s when we had Wometco cable tv in Clayton county GA, back when cable tv was first being put into homes someone showed me how to cut a rectangle piece out of a plastic lid from a butter container lid. He just simply folded one end and inserted it into the top of the cable box and pulled it almost all the way out and it gave us all the channels. We only paid for the basic package but with this trick it gave us all the channels. I showed my dad and he was tickled to death over this trick

With all the coaxial wires / crews / lightbulb parts and all the work, wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy an antenna and save yourself all the grief?
My friend, this idea will be very useful when we don't have access to a store antenna
You can leave out the lightbulb parts, because they don't do anything.
I agree with you 😂
So how would I program the AT&T Direct cable box...Would this work in NE Fla?
You can easily search for channels and then save them
A skipping rope attached from splitter to some fishing line and rod is better, but need different size hook depending on location.
Thank you for sharing your experience about the antenna
Great idea!
Glad you think so!❤❤🙏
Also works for tape dubbing, to bypass Macrovision copy protection. Make 2 and plug into each VCR being used. Put tape to be dubbed in the refrigerator for an hour prior to recording. Save TONS on videotapes!
Thank you for your advice on making the antenna❤🙏
You mean they still make video tapes?
I only have a radio, no TV - will this work with my raido, I am guessing I just need some sort of adapter !
Yes, you can use only one pole of it for the radio
Just watching this on your radio means that it works!
Not a capacitor shown but an MOV over-current device designed to stop voltage and current causing light bulb melt downs.
Thank you for your visit
We live near the mountains outside Asheville, NC. No antenna of any design will pick up stations here. When we lived in Raleigh, we had to install an outside FM antenna on a high mast to get UNC-TV because we were in a slight valley.
Thank you for sharing the antenna coverage in your area❤🙏
Now by the time I add up all the components I pay twice what I paid for an antenna, delivered.
No, you can make this antenna with recycled materials and save money
I'm happy for you that you've received almost 1 million views but I sure wish I had that 14:11 back.
Thanks, my friend. I am happy for you that you got a lot of useful information and learned an amazing idea by watching this free video.❤🙏
1. I didn't know that you could use a shielded cable as an antenna.
2. I don't see how putting 5V to a passive splitter does anything.
Can you please explain how this works.
Can I just use a coat hanger?
My friend, you can also use a clothes hanger, but this antenna will be more efficient
Does this work identically to the antennas you can buy at Wallyworld, etc?? You know, the ones that have a flat panel and power booster that plugs into the electrical wall outlet??
But this antenna can be made at home with recycled materials
I stuck a banana in the back of my TV and got Netflix for free. 😂
Really? Please explain more, my friend❤🙏
Not Banana buddy!.Nuts!.
He probably pulled it out of his a** the idiot@@InnovationPlusOne
feeling cold in the winter, do this and your sure to have endless warmth for at least a coupl of hours. Thanks for showing me how to start a fire with no kinling
My friend this idea is just a dipole antenna
What coax did you use? Is there a specific wattage bulb you got the capacitor from, Or well any do? How many OHMS was the capacitor?
Where I live, out in the country, there is no cable and I can't afford satellite, SO, I built a fractal antenna that I put up about 30 FT in the air. Seems to work OK, but is somewhat BI-Directional. Anyway, I do get 50+ "Channels" without a booster, but I am wondering if this would do me any good?
Thank you, my friend, for raising this question, I used a 75 ohm coaxial cable and a 10-1000pF capacitor can be used.❤❤
Meanwhile, dipole antennas can have different functions in different places
Experimentally I used a 'butterfly' screen reflector in my area which is quite hilly, mounted on a variable height mast, and it made no difference at all.
Are you serious? Please...
You would probably get better results from a plain length of copper wire.
Yes, we can also use copper wire, thank you for your advice🙏❤
Nothing to add , but sub the man ,
Thank you for your comment my friend❤
As I said on another one (of many) of your postings on this topic, you must have a lot of spare time on your hands
Yes, but we may have to use these ideas when necessary❤🙏
We had these when I was a kid only we called them rabbit ears which you can still buy today.
Glad you are also an inventor my friend
Thank you for all these great tips. Keep these ideas coming. Great video.
You are so welcome!❤❤🙏
If you run this genius invention with a built in circuit breaker it keeps you fit keep getting up resetting it, I would avoid using it with a expensive flat screen but great for a 80's portable you found in the garage, as well as a built in trip switch I would use a RCD🎉 plug while viewing the punk group The Sparks on the portable😢😢😢.Mark.
Thanks for the info!
Thank you for sharing your experience
Yeah, damaging coax shields to induce leaks is plausible. And coffe can antennas are a real thing provided the size and geometry are right.

Glad I know where they dumped and buried our last Radio Shack, I need some parts...
I am glad I could help you by making this antenna
Does the SIM card need to be able to work? Does it work with any common phone model? Approximately how many channels are caught?
It doesn't matter, my friend, only the SIM card chip should be healthy, It receives almost all channels that are sent through terrestrial stations
Such BS. 1) the way the SIM is wired, it is being powered by 5V; max is 3.3
So if the SIM was good, it won't be after you plug it in.
Gullible
Can we get a ready-made kit? And does this work in all countries? Which channels we can catch through this kit? I mean satellite channels or locally broadcast channels or what?? Please do inform
My friend, with this dipole antenna, we can only receive free and available channels
@@InnovationPlusOne Free channels on the internet?? By the way, I am in Pakistan. Where are you from?
Brilliant, thank for sharing this...love it!!❤
You are so welcome!❤
did you try , did it work for you?
YOUR ANOTHER IDIOT LOSER,PLEASE DON’T VOTE 🤨😡
Videos such as this where the instructor uses a razor blade knife.....and still has all of their fingertips! Luckily I have a universal wire stripper and gloves. I made something like this and yes, it actually worked.
Thank you for sharing your experience about making this antenna
You're not really unlocking anything since those are all Over The Air channels but you did make a pretty cool antenna. Although a store bought one will probably pick up a stronger signal. Cool none the less
Thank you my friend, these antennas are mostly used in emergency situations when we don't have access to store antennas❤❤
No... Not really cool... But thanks for sharing...
Store bought ones I have tried suck!
This antenna will catch only the Free To Air channels or even the paid channels ?
This antenna can receive all free channels🙏🙏❤
@@InnovationPlusOne thank you 🙏🏼
Yet again, fooled by the thumbnail…
Dear friend, don't judge too soon and build this antenna, you will be surprised without a doubt❤🙏
What advantage is this over a store bought antenna? And if it is better, why dont they make and sell them like this??
This antenna is much cheaper than store antennas and is made of recycled materials and is also beneficial for the environment
The electronic term for this is BS .
First build this antenna, you will be surprised
You believe in your own Scams!!! You can fool some of the People some of the time but you can't fool everyone all the time!@@InnovationPlusOne
Thank you, my friend, for your advice❤❤❤
এটা কি সত্যি নাকি মিথ্যা আমার মনে হয় এইসব ভূয়া
Please don't be quick to judge first make this idea and then post the result here my friend❤
@@InnovationPlusOneoh really my buddy ❤!!!??
If you don't want to play MacGyver you could just go get a cable TV antenna for $19.95 at any retail store that sells TV products
My friend, you don't need to pay money, you can easily make this antenna with recycled materials and save money by watching this video.
@@InnovationPlusOne yes but you still have to buy the material and put it together correctly. sometimes it's just better to designate authority and purchase one that's already built. But it was nice to see that it worked.
Less than.
For some, the greasiness of McDonald's hash browns is part of their charm. It adds a certain indulgence and decadence to the breakfast experience. It's like treating yourself to a guilty pleasure once in a while. However, for others who prefer a cleaner and less greasy meal, it might be necessary to explore alternative options or modify their order to suit their preferences.
Thank you for your advice
This is a subscriber. Merry Christmas!!!🎉
Please make the earliest audio fm antenna.
Please also give me the specifications of the materials used.
Thank you.
Thank you my friend, Merry Christmas❤
I will definitely upload the FM antenna video soon my friend
Before cable went digital, there were two ways to block a channel. Either with a negative or positive notch filter. The negative filter blocked a channel completely and would have to be removed to receive the channel. The positive filter was put in place to remove interference sent down the line from the broadcaster. This setup seems to mimic that. But I know of no place that still uses it.
Thank you for your explanation
I am blown away by how well it works.
Glad this antenna helped you
Can someone answer me on this
The country you come from still uses a regular antenna plug to watch TV
because this antenna, as in the video, it can open all Digital channels, because in Denmark, where I live, we can't use an antenna anymore because all programs have become digital...
so if I make such an Antenna as in the video, I would then be able to watch digital programs without having to pay for them again
This antenna can receive all free channels, so if the channels in your area are not free, you cannot receive them with this antenna.
We used this method before cable was ever introduced to the masses. 😂😮😅😂😅😂
This is a coaxial cable
Back in the early 80s when we had Wometco cable tv in Clayton county GA, back when cable tv was first being put into homes someone showed me how to cut a rectangle piece out of a plastic lid from a butter container lid. He just simply folded one end and inserted it into the top of the cable box and pulled it almost all the way out and it gave us all the channels. We only paid for the basic package but with this trick it gave us all the channels. I showed my dad and he was tickled to death over this trick
Thank you for your explanation about this antenna, I'm glad you like it❤
A family that steals together stays together! I pay my way and am not a get over.
The nose of Pinocchio does the job as well😂😂😂
It was an interesting animation my friend, I am glad to make you happy
Yeah and you can get renewable energy by plugging an extension cord into itself😂
How interesting, please turn this idea into a video, my friend, so that we can learn from you❤
When I get some time I'll send it to ya 😊 in the meantime you have a Merry Christmas
