I used a company based in Southampton called The Baggage handling company who transported my suitcases from my home directly to the cruise ship then back to my home after the cruise, the service was amazing and saved me alot of time and hassle. I highly recommend!!

My wife and I went on a cruìse from Southampton to Norway and back in October 2023. We travelled from Australia. We went on the P&O Arcadia. We stayed 2 nights at the Pig in the Wall, and even though its very close to the cruise terminal, we decided to take an Uber because we were carrying over 50kg of luggage in 5 bags, and because were werent really sure how we'd go walking in, or how rough the surfaces were. We found the whole process very easy. Check-in was fast and efficient, and the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful.

Hi thanks for watching, as whole Southampton and cruising are normally stress free, glad you had a smooth embarkation. What was the pig in the wall like? It looks lovely from outside.

    • @quicksilver2510

@cruisingwiththe4bs It's lovely. We didn't want to stay in a generic place like we have all around the world. Even though it wasn't cheap, it was very quaint and historic. The people running it are wonderful. We missed our bus from Heathrow and ended up getting there about 8pm in the evening. Not only did they take our luggage up to our room from the street, but they served us dinner even though it was well passed the kitchens closing time. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

Hi Richard, thanks for watching and your kind comment.
The holiday inn (if it’s Southampton city centre one) is literally two minute walk from city terminal, the next building along. If your an early riser ask for middle to high floor and it’s perfect place to see ships come in. I have photo but can’t seem to insert it.

I’m cruising from the QE2 terminal in September but my parking is in the Triangle car park in Ocean Terminal. What are the options for getting from one to the other? I know we could walk but we have a wheelchair user in the party and I’m not sure it’s the best option. Are there shuttles?

    • @cruisingwiththe4bs
      @cruisingwiththe4bs  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi thanks for watching and commenting.
I know that car park, my best advice would be to take everyone to the terminal drop off your bags and the wheelchair passenger at the terminal, if your on time you can leave them inside the terminal. Park the car and then either walk or taxi back. If a ship is in ocean terminal then you can pick up a taxi from there. The walk is 20 minutes and flat. You can also pick up taxi’s from town quay which is next door.

We are sailing from QE2 on the 30th of August (Disney) and I was not able to get official parking in time... none left apparently (according to the website).
Do you have any advice for where we can park? I'm happy to park in a public long stay, but I'm a bit anxious about how easy it will be to get a taxi to the terminal (and back, more importantly).
Do you know if it is possible to walk to the QE2 terminal?

Yes we have one booked for the end of October I think it's essentially the one you just did around the same time on the preziosa which we were supposed to be on but have been changed to the brand new and as of now un launched Euribia. First cruise with our 8 and 6 year old so really looking forward to it.

@@fireballpaul12 ah brilliant we are on Euribia on the 9th October and going in YC minus the kids for 5 days so we’re really excited for this 🙂 I’m sure you will have an amazing time.

Sounds brilliant. I'm glad I found your channel so informative. I'm hoping this one will be the start of many cruises everybody I have spoken to has only said good things about the cruise experience. Just another quick one for you did you know before hand about the white night and other themed nights before you embarked or were you only aware once on the ship? We haven't got a clue what we would need to pack for lol

@@fireballpaul12 so truth is nope no idea 😂 for a longer cruise there is always a white night, glamour night and the rest tend to be casual! I’d say just pack whatever your comfortable in, first time we had no idea about white night and to be honest when sailing from the uk not many are in white when in the med everyone was!
Thank you that’s really nice of you to say 🙂, as I’m sure you have seen plenty of MSc reviews on here to look at.

I’ve just been on P&o cruise from Southampton and can tell you Southampton is not fit for purpose the traffic in town was at a standstill for hours and was told theres to many cruise ships in ? It’s a PORT stress are you kidding

That’s a shame you must have gone on a busy day, of all the cruises we have done we have only had one day where traffic was an issue, it’s always dependant on how many ships are in and football etc. hope you enjoyed your cruise.

Stress free ? You are having a laugh ! Queued for nearly 2 hours to board the MSC Virtuosa which was basically a 4 day booze cruise. Awful management making us stand in the hot sun for that long.

That’s a shame everyone has a different experience did you arrive at your embarkation time?

Hi David. Thanks for watching unfortunately this one is just about cruises, but I do know thing or two about Southampton buses so look out for that one!
