@CruiseWithAmber Hi, yes we are back in Southampton in November before our cruise to the Canaries. . We stayed at the Moxy, which was very comfortable with a good breakfast. My friend and I walked to the P&O terminal. Do you have any tips for solo travel in respect of cost. It always seems more costly.
My wife and I visited the UK from Australia in October 2023 for a cruise to Norway and back. We arrived at Heathrow in the afternoon and boarded a National Express bus to Southampton. We stayed 2 nights at the Pig in the Wall which is close to the cruise terminal. The owners of the hotel were friendly and welcoming and the accommodation was quaint and characterful. We had a lovely time in Southampton, visiting the Titanic museum, the West Quay shopping centre and had a beautiful meal in the Duke of Wellington pub, which blew my mind with its history and age. We certainly don't get that kind of thing in Australia. We also did a day trip to Winchester and Salisbury visiting both cathedrals. We boarded the P&O Acadia at the Ocean Cruise Terminal. We were going to walk from the hotel to the terminal, but with 50kg of luggage in 5 bags, we decided to get an Uber instead. The terminal was easy to navigate and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Thank you for your detailed review. I stayed in the Pig in the Wall earlier this week and it’s was amazing - I’ll be uploading a video of that shortly too.
Hi, thanks for the information, im cruising from the city terminalpl when the boat shows is on, do you know if gate 8 and 10 both open, im parking in city terminal.
The best thing to do is contact Princess or your Travel Agent and fill out the embarkation assistance form to outline your requirements. We hired a wheelchair for my dad from mobility at sea and it worked out at £10 ish per day
Is that on the main website? Moxy website suggests parking there overnight as an overflow car park, as does the premier in. There were signs in the car park this year directing cruise parking to level 11.
@@masterballuk6780 probably from city or horizon cruise terminal. Best to check cruise mapper or the Southampton VTS site - links in my blog post cruisewithamber.co.uk/cruising-from-southampton-ultimate-guide/

Love the Princess Love Boat horn. We're sailing in May and will have travelled from Tasmania to get there. If all the connections work then we'll spend the night before at the Leonardo Grand. We're doing the British isles first then the Scandinavia and land of the midnight sun cruises. All up we'll be doing 40 nights cruising and one week in a village out of Southampton. Getting excited.
Oh wow! Great itineraries - have an amazing time and safe travels. Can you hide me in your case on the way back home - I’m yearning to get back to Australia so much!
Hi. Which camera/selfie stick are you using in this video? Great video, with good information for first timers, like us. We’ve always flown abroad to take a cruise, but now it’s time for Southampton x
Hi Bernadette - thanks for watching. Southampton is great for no-fly cruises - and there are so many itineraries and cruise lines calling in 2024. The camera I use is the Insta360x3 - if you use my affiliate link there's an offer for a free invisible selfie stick which I use: www.insta360.com/sal/x3?INR8L70
Thank you for the very informative review. We are first time cruisers and would be on board the P&O Iona for the Norwegian cruise from 8 June. Would you kniw if there are any left luggae facility in the cruise terminals where we can leave excess baggage for the period of cruise, rather than take them on board? Many thanks in advance!
You are not restricted with how much luggage you take on ship so you could take it on board with you. But if you wanted to leave luggage there are various trusted places in Southampton and recommended places are best to book through this website: stasher.com/?ref=nwm0ndg
I am sailing for the second time out of Southampton this coming October. Does anyone know if it is ok to drop our luggage off before we check in? We are taking a train from London that morning, and wanted to do a bit of walking around before boarding without having to drag along our things.
Hi there- yes it fine to do this - we have a few times. The luggage pods open about 11am so you can drop your luggage off then. The taxi can drop you right outside the luggage pods and depending on which terminal you’re sailing from it’s only a 15-25 min walk into central Southampton. I’ve put more info in my blog post if that helps. cruisewithamber.co.uk/cruising-from-southampton-ultimate-guide/

Thanks for watching. The Moxy and premier Inn suggest west quay as an alternative overnight parking on their websites. We have gone with the included CPS parking this time as it seemed the sensible stress-free option for the first time. In future I would be keen to save on the cost somewhat and keep the onboard credit instead and so use West Quay car park; so what is the process involved in dropping off the bags first and then going and parking? Thanks for watching - and it's good to know it was helpful for future cruises. The baggage pods open up at about 11am so if you dropped off your luggage any time before that, then someone would have to wait with your luggage. What we do is drive to the terminal (there is a drop off lane you can drive to) and we arrive around 11:00 if we have a 12:00 embarkation time, drop the luggage off and then one of us drives the car to West quay and parks up and then walk back to the terminal. If our embarkation time is later then we still drop out luggage off first, then go to park the car (leave our hand luggage in the car) and spend a couple of hours in westquay before heading back to the terminal - depending on the weather, we might take a taxi as we'll all have our hand luggage with us.
