Marriage license is like $80 bucks. Divorce takes away all ur current assets and also ur paycheck for the next 20 years. U also pay for the lawyer who is helping ur wife take away all ur stuff.

Sage advice. After my girlfriend in Ecuador moved in with me, she became a different person. I saw an attorney to understand the legal implications of kicking her out. Even a six month relationship is complicated in Ecuador. If you're an expat in a foreign country, talk to an attorney before you pass a commitment milestone. You're married in Ecuador after two years of living together and she gets half of your US assets.

The most lonely man is a married man whose wife no longer loves him .
He is stuck as he cannot have any relationship with anybody else,
    while the woman ,
who is supposed to have a relationship with him and have sex with him ,
refuses to do so and even refuses to talk to him.
Compare that to a single but attractive and reasonably financially well off man, who can go with almost any woman or even with 10 to 30 beautiful women,
all at the same time, without having any problems , as long as he continue to stay single .

It certainly has cultural shift in plain sight and still going strong. Do to foreigners flocking to Asia weather for amusement or companionship demands women are certainly level up. You noticed the mentality of traditional women there are decreasing. While the adaptation of expectations and mimicking a sense of entitlement from the west are increasing.

Feminism is very attractive. And actually most of those westerners flocking there, from English teachers to influencers to aid workers are ALL feminists and spreading ghe virus. I once met an esol teacher who was introducing the alphabet soup stuff to kids ...and I read some of their textbooks, they are all written with a feminism vibe. So buyers be aware...unfortunately. oh another lady I met in a dating site. Was taking me to fancy restaurants for free meals, kind of foodie call. One day I kind of suggested we should stay in the hotel and chill. She said no. I said then let's call it a day. See you later. She went back ...and later sent a message in broken English saying it was woman abuse or something like that. I was like, how? I didn't touch you . I didn't say anything nasty...and we had been to more than 5 food dates 😂😂

As a married Vietnamese-American woman, I understand very well the cultural mix/clash of Vietnamese and American views on marriage. There are a lot of underlying nuances especially from the Vietnamese side about what marriage symbolizes. If you're a non Vietnamese man intending to marry a Vietnamese woman in VN, I highly recommend you first and foremost take time to really get to know each other. Beyond the superficial how she likes her coffee, get to know her family, how she gets on with them, how they treat each other. What was her childhood like? What expectations do they have for her? What expectations does she have for herself? Have you seen her at her worst? When she's stressed out? How does she handle stress?
I think a lot of problems with marriage nowadays is most couples marry in a hurry because of familial/societal pressure, pressure to have kids because bio clock is ticking, etc. They don't know their partner well enough so soon after the wedding, the marriage dissolves.
It's especially difficult for long distance marriages where you're in town only a few times so you've only seen them while both of you are on holiday mode so you think they're the best thing since sliced bread so you think getting married is a great idea.
Bottom line, think twice, 3 or 4x before deciding to get married.
PS. I'm married to a Singaporean just in case someone thinks I became an American because I married an American guy. 😅

Mr Duong, as always, very sharp and professional conversation. You do not disappoint, ever. I like that you do not shade the commentary in favor of the Vietnamese or the Foreigner. You just give us the straight up facts that the court uses to make their decisions. In USA, I work with a lot of younger people. Many of their mindsets these days are geared to co-habitation without marriage. Marriage has become too messy, too dangerous financially, and deeply affected by the swipe right culture. I always tell the younger guys...I'm married, happily so (on most days) to a Beijinger.....that there is no real reason to marry unless it is about procreation. American courts are more than quicksand for the men. I really see marriage as a very dangerous proposition for guys.

Most of korean's men are marrying with Vietnamese girls from rural areas, cause they re more family oriented and would sacrifice their lives to build a family together with a man. Women in urban areas are more independent and individualistic and know that divorce is the fatest way to get half of all assets of her husband due to the feminists laws that protect them above moral and ethical principles. So if u want to marry with a women , choose from rural and poor areas.

As a foreigner here, and having witnessed many of my friends getting in huge mess after marrying a Vietnamese woman way too fast, I know your video will be very useful.
We tend to think that our partners are way more perfect than what they really are, especially due to the language barrier.
From my own experience, i would say : Give it a solid 2 years of dating before marriage , make sure you know your in laws really well, and as it was stated before, get advised by an attorney beforehand. Better to be safe than sorry.

US citizen here! married a Vietnamese scammer unbeknownst to me. Have a child with her. She yells at me and the child. Physically Abuse the child. Won't let me raise the child because she's using the child for a suspended prison sentence. Vietnam law says she doesn't need to go to prison until the child is over 36 months and no matter what the father has no rights if the child under 36 months.
I got an estimate for divorce and child custody 5k for lawyer fees and I have to travel back and forth.
My honest opinion: marriage and having a family in Vietnam doesn't benefit the man at all. Women wins in all circumstances according to the Vietnamese law.

so he end up being married but getting no sex, and he is worst off than single men,

I am a Asian westerner who is dating a Vietnamese. We live in Canada. I can see a deteriorating marriage culture in Vietnamese culture for a few reasons. 1) In Viet culture, they tend to marry quickly with minimal time for dating and courtship. This leads to 'shotgun' type marriages and as you said @Ken, a photo worthy wedding, but not a stable relationship with solid foundations that takes time to establish. Which leads me to my next issue: 2) Viets tend to be obsessed with social media and have a hard time realizing that what is depicted and curated via ones online presence does not actually line up with reality (frankly that is just real life) and when pressed with the decision to work and invest time and care into building a stronger relationship, Viets tend to 3) Be less willing to do the hard work that results in greater long term happiness, and would prefer to go for the seemingly quick, and easy out solution ie. divorce. For the record, my wife and I have a happy marriage and are raising a growing family but every marriage is like a garden, you have to invest time into cultivating it, nurturing it and fostering growth with it with love and energy. Divorce doesn't fix that constant truth that all relationships require work.

    • @DFDX1001
      @DFDX1001 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

This sort of happy marriage, while still married, scenario is often seen in comments related to marriage & divorce. What these guys choose to overlook, - and I don't blame them, after all, they are already stuck where they are and would choose to hope for the best ie. cognitive dissonance - is that vast the majority of men presented papers by their wives (80% initiation) never see it coming. Let that sink in! Women will tell you, they check out often for years as part of a long-term plan, prior to executing their divorce to obtain maximum cash and prizes. While leaving the man totally unsuspecting. Women do this almost routinely in the execution of divorce. Again, let that truth sink in!!! You will never truly know that divorce is not just around the corner until you or she are on a deathbed.

Societies have instill selfishness into modern life. Everyone for themselves. Older generations know how to be selfless. Live for the other person you love, when you love you give. A marriage includes 2 persons who are imperfect living together. Both parties need to be ready to forgive each other's imperfections and lower their expectations of each other. You work to be the perfect one in marriages and not expect your spouse to live up to your perceived standards when you do not work on yourself first. This is the reason why there are so many divorce everywhere. People are selfish and are materialistic.

I miss knowin' what you're thinkin'
And hearin' how your day has been
Do you think you could tell me everythin', darlin'?
But leave out every part about him

Oh, but instead, I only wish you the best
Well, I can't help but notice
You seem happier than ever now
And I guess that I should tell you I'm sorry
It seems I was the problem somehow
Maybe I only brought you down

Making the same video from an American standpoint would be interesting. Vietnam is one of the few places where you can find a woman that treats herself with dignity and respect and that hasnt been tainted by birth control pills and only fans. If you come to Vietnam to marry a woman and start a family, be prepared to build wealth together and support that family. 'If you marry the girl, you marry the family'

To many people get married because they fall in love with having sex.
People (including my self) should treat married as a bond with GOD. In the west when getting married we say, till death do us part. Only to think, if it doesn't workout, we can get divorced. This is like braking a promise with GOD. People used to wait until after getting married before having sex. Once you give yourself to someone, there is nothing greater to give to that person. Another very big factor or contributor is that woman today are very independent just as you said. This takes away value from men and makes them become worthless. Or of little value.
Having to many relationships can cause confusion in a relationship. In one's mind you start comparing one person to another.
This one was great at this
This one was great at that
This one was very uncomfortable to be with in public.
Before you know it, no one can fulfill all of one's needs and this is the downfall of having been with to many partners.
I think it is good to wait before answering to a question or response. No matter who it is. Give it a thought before answering.

When people get married for life its a commitment. Maybe the divorce courts should have the judges flip a coin to decide which one becomes a widow or widower and which one becomes the widowee? Then they'll keep the commitment of marriage and we'll help reduce carbon footprints?

Younger women are more likely to speak English and be open to foreigners, but with a large age gap, it's more likely to be about resources. Not all of this is 1st hand info, so do due diligence. I understand your perspective concerning Western cultural influence. However, it saddens me to realize that many people around the world think of "disposable" marriages as being Western culture. The truth is that Feminism is the primary driver behind divorce rates in Western countries, not individualism. Feminism, as an ideology, seeks to instill a mindset in women that unless they fight against "the Patriarchy," they will continue to be oppressed. Therefore, every interaction with every man is a power struggle. If this sounds like Marxism, you're right on the money. This new form of "cultural Marxism" has been taking the West by storm for several decades, now, and has been successful in replacing our true values with degeneracy. Marriage was once greatly valued as the foundation of happy lives and societies. Having children was regarded as one of the most noble and virtuous contributions to society. And, above all that, marriages and raising families was an act of worship, a sacred vow made before God. Not just to love and cherish your spouse, but to pass on your understanding and knowledge of God to your children, giving them a firm foundation for them to develop their own relationship with their Creator. The West is grappling with these forces, that are eroding our values, morality and ethics, which have in their intent our overthrow from within. And, though, they did originate in the West, I don't call them Western.

  • @max14719
    @max14719 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

Marriage used to be a sacred ritual. Now western people be like: "if you don't like it, why bother staying in the relationship?"
Well, isn't that what dating is for? If you fail at marriage it means that you fail at recognizing the fatal flaw of the other person during the dating phase. It means you're hasty, doesn't look at things in long term, naive, not tolerance, insufferable, etc.
Your failure at relationship or failure at anything should be considered shameful, and yes, we should also praise the successful ones as well. If we don't recognize failure as well as success, then where's the meaning of it? I mean if everyone are so forgiving, then people will not take any matter so seriously. Because you'll always hear something like "it's ok, it's normal to fail at... (bla bla bla)"
Don't blame society for your short-sightedness/failure at life. Blame yourself for once for Christ sake.
Relationship is hard. Finding true love and stick with it all the way to the end is hard. But it doesn't mean that marriage is doomed.
It's like you can't ride a bicycle but blaming bicycle for having only two wheels. Well, others can. Why can't you?

Oh, but instead, I only wish you the best
Well, I can't help but notice
You seem happier than ever now
And I guess that I should tell you I'm sorry
It seems I was the problem somehow
Maybe I only brought you down

Vietnamese women are beautiful and caring, we always put our family first but if it is not a safe and happy place, we are not afraid to make things better, we can build and we can destroy it as well. As every woman in this world, we want a husband, a leader, and a provider so that we can have a safe home for our children and YOUR CHILDREN as well. Is it too much to ask?

And older gentleman made a speech at a wedding reception, he said “love” was overrated, that immediately shocked me, then he followed up with saying “commitment” is the most important element in a relationship. That true love will come from that commitment to each other.
I think that’s exactly what’s missing in relationships today. It all made sense.
