    I’m Filipino and I salute Vietnam’s law.
Power and wealth should not override crimes that she did !
Her power and wealth were acquired scamming people.

“People behind her” is on the losing side of the current power struggle in Vietnam right now. They have their own fate to worry about !! She is the scapegoat of the purges !!!

In VN, criminal justice is very abnormal compared to the US. You can use $ to get the sentence reduced or wiped off. In many bribery cases, one can return the illegitimate $ then the sentence is reduced or completely gone.

It is without fail extremely unfair to the people who put their highest trust on SCB. She should return the loot and face the maximum penalty. This will send a message to all bankers or those with itchy fingers waiting to click on the mouse to make money from the people.

I have been subscribed for a while now and really enjoy your stories. I was wondering if she was going to get executed. Vietnam’s laws are strict and she knew the rules but broke them. Now she has to pay the price. I wonder if she ever felt guilty about stealing peoples’ hard earned money?

Jai Hind. It is easy to keep moralizing on what is right or wrong "now" based on the Rule of Law. The foundation of all country development and re-construction cannot be built up without those with entrepreneurial spirits who were able to navigate the bureaucracy with corruption. In fact, these activities are legalized in the political lobby system in certain countries. The Wise man of China Reform and Opening up had observed that it will be necessary to Let some of the flies in "first." Of course, all forms of corruption should be mitigated and controlled using the Rule of Law with the passage of time.

Duong, stop talk negative about Vietnam. What about Bangladesh minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury using his family control one of the major Bank and approves half a billion dollar loan.
Then he used the money and invest in real estate in the UK and US. At the time ,the property market collapsed due to covid 19. Now the investment worth billion dollar.
As a minister ,he use the power to transfer money oversea for private investment.
Truong My Lan not a minister, she didnt invest oversea market and all the asset remain in the country.
