    I’m on a budget (more than anything) so my options are limited. After watching this review, then test riding a Marlin 5 at a local dealer, I immediately put a deposit down on an incoming bike. It’s honestly pretty exciting to step away from the Walmart bike world and into something of better quality. This video helped me so much!! Thank you gentlemen.

Here’s the deal, I am NOT a Mountain Biker, I’m an around the town dude who loves the efficiency and smoothness of this bike. It was nothing for me to ride 26-miles each day on this bike. However, my next buy will probably be the (Marlin 8) or X-Caliber.

    i'm an athletic but 65 now equestrian, I've had a trek bike for years, but someone told me it was too big for me and I kind of think it is now because it's XL and I'm 5'9... I want something for fire roads and bike paths here in Sonoma County. I don't do rock hopping or anything intensely dangerous... what do you think?

    • @GetOutArizona
      @GetOutArizona  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Shelly, thank you for watching and asking your question. Both are appreciated. I apologize for the delay in response. It's been crazy around here.
      That being said, yes, the XL is too large of a bike for you. I would highly recommend going to a large frame. I am 5'11" and ride a large quite comfortably.
      The MArlin series bike would be perfect for what you are doing. If you wanted to spend a little more, you could upgrade to the Rosco. However, I know plenty of people in AZ who are rocking the Marlin and loving it.

    is the marlin 5 gen 2 good for someone on a budget that needs a bike that'll last 2-5 years and enjoys jumps? thanks!

    • @GetOutArizona
      @GetOutArizona  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would be mindful of the size of the jumps you are doing. It's a sturdy bike, but in the end, it's still an entry-level bike. I've seen some riders get pretty agro on it, so I don't see a problem with longevity and pushing it to its limits.

      Personally, I would choose the Marlin 6. You get a few more refinements over the Marlin 5, but more importantly, you get a 10-speed over the 8-speed the Marlin 5 has.

The only thing I changed was I put a gel padded seat on it, the stock one was painful for a 235 pound old guy. Over all, it's nice, shifts smooth and disc brakes are great. Hey guys! I have two questions. I would appreciate it a lot if you could kindly answer them.
    My partner got a marlin 5 large for me. I feel like the seat it too high for me and I can’t bring it any more down. I was wondering if you have any recommendations for me in that.
    Question 2: it didn’t come with a kickstand so I bought one from target thinking that the bike would have a hole under to month. It doesn’t. What would you recommend? I really don’t like putting the bike down on the ground when I take a break.
    Thank you.

      @GetOutArizona  หลายเดือนก่อน

      We appreciate you watching and asking your questions.
      As far as the seat height, if the saddle is too high and you have dropped it down as far as it will go, then is there not much more that can be done. It almost sounds like the frame is too large for your height.
      Below is a link to Trek's kickstand section. You can find the one that will work with your Marlin 5 here.
