    This video did a good job of putting the bike in context with the type of rider it should attract. When watched with the video on the Marlin 5, they do a great job of showing how bikes get to different price points. With the references to other models at higher price points, we can get an understanding of the mesh points of experience, budget and features of the bikes. It also shows the value of the local bike shop and the experience of the people who work in them. Seeing what goes into the equation for what bikes get recommended based on experience, budget, intended use etc. should help people at all experience levels when choosing bikes and components. These bike specific videos are great; keep them coming.

    I just bought the Marlin 8 gen2, I pick it up in 2 weeks, cant wait!!! I used to ride a 25 year old Scwinn bike that served me well but its showing its age so it was time.

    So, I’ve only been a “Roadie” but when it comes to Hard Tail Mountain bikes I’ve owned the Marlin 5. I loved it from day one. When you guys suggested a look at the Marlin 8 Gen 2, I waffled but eventually made the purchase. I literally rode it out of the front door of the shop and onto my favorite bike trail (hard surfaces). The first thing I noticed was how effortlessly smooth it rode and the shifting. It also feels lighter and much more efficient in the pedaling.

    I now own this bike (Marlin 8 Gen 2) and happy with it. Basic City rider. But, just read that the Marlin 7 Gen 3 was supposed to be the replacement for the 8 with a dropper post? Did I buy the wrong bike?

    • @GetOutArizona
      @GetOutArizona  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would say no, as you can easily add a PNW dropper to the Marlin 8 with zero issues. We did a video on upgrades to the Marlin line of bikes, and I believe it's relevant no matter the Gen. Thank you for watching and asking your question, my friend. Keep us posted on how you are enjoying your new ride and adventure safely.

      @GetOutArizona  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grab your son a Gen 3 for $100 more. I'm pretty sure it's $100 more. It comes with a dropper post and improved Geometry. They were just released. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, my friend. Let us know what you decide.

    So, I was also considering the X-Caliber 8 which has lowered the price or the Marlin 7 which comes with a “Dropper Post”. Thoughts.

    • @GetOutArizona
      @GetOutArizona  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Trek is having a ridiculous sale right now. The X-Caliber 9 is marked down to $1399. I would choose that over the XC8 if your budget allows. I hope this answer is helpful. Thank you for watching and asking your question.

      I used to be a “Roadie” but I’m priced out of the market so I’m enjoying the ride of the Hard-Tails around town. I’ll in search of the lightest one. It appears that the best deal is Marlin 8 Gen 2. Am I right????

    • @GetOutArizona
      @GetOutArizona  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ras864 The Gen2 Marlin is a fantastic deal. But with some of the sale prices being as much as 50% off, there are a lot of fantastic deals to be had. Again, it depends on your budget.
      Hell, I'm trying to justify the purchase of a 9.8-Calibe, lol

    IMHO skip the Marlin 8 Gen 2 and buy the Gen 3 version of the same bike. Improved geometry with a much slacker and stable front end plus a dropper post. Just about the same price too. I have one and its leaps and bounds better then the Gen 2.

      No, on the Marlin Gen 2, you have to use an external dropper post. PNW makes a great one. I hope this answer is helpful to you, my friend. I am sorry it took so long to get back to you.

    So Barney style it for me. What does boost mean in MTB? I come from the road bike community and thinking on getting this bike or the gen 3. Cause the GT leaves me wanting more (currently own a GT aggressor)

    • @GetOutArizona
      @GetOutArizona  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is a great question. Thank you for asking and taking the time to watch.
      Boost is the modern axle platform that all performance mountain bike frame and fork manufacturers abide by. 'Boost' is an upgrade from the old standard, which widens the rear axle by 6mm and the front axle by 10mm, putting the rear at 148mm and the front at 110mm.
      You should also check out the Salsa Timberjack XT version. It's a bit more money but a great hardtail choice.
      Sorry, it took so long to get back to you.

      @@KingofStreet3 that is a worthy option as well. There are so many choices in this space, it could be hard to make a decision. My only regret is our limitation on the bikes we can acquire for review.

      Same here. I can no longer afford the Roadie I want so I started with the Marlin 5 and now I’m looking closely at the Marlin 8. At this time I’m only gonna use this bike for around town riding and bike trails and city rides. If it’s as smooth and reliable as the Marlin 5, then it will be a great ride!
