Jessica, I’ve been waiting to see you do your own automotive work. I was one of the first two girls allowed to take auto shop in high school back in 1973! Just a few years ago I replaced my starter in my Jeep all by my self, a 60 y.o. woman underneath, in the cold.
She did an incredible job, her rhetoric was fun and effortless to follow. Derek is fun to watch as we can all relate to him smashing his knuckles up, but she just owned that camera like a legit TV show. Keep up the quality content

Also, the pointer about the oil drain being magnetic, and to check for "sparkles", as Derek calls 'em! I hope that the ladies watching will get a little boost of confidence seeing you tackle these common problems and regular maintenance -type stuff. You are a natural in front of the camera, and I'm looking forward to seeing you in the shop more! Keep up the good work! :)

OEM's dont even paint vehicles sold new here; they rust before they leave the dealerships.

I actually get nervous every time Derek goes for the brake pedals in his videos. Great work Jessica, really good diagnostics and repairs you made there.
We're so spoiled with all our fancy brakes these days. I remember my old F100 4x4 only had brakes on one wheel after the pedal was against the floor. Never hit anything, even in heavy traffic. Took me a while to find out the flex hoses were collapsed.
@@arnodyck we really are, I have a old Datsun 280z and a 85 Corvette, (all before ABS). It's a different feel for sure. I get in my newer car and usually the first thing I do is slam the brakes, lol.

I'm not surprised that Jessica knows how to repair her vehicle given that she grew up in the same town as Derek, and likely had her father teaching her all the same things that Derek learned as a young feller. I'm also not surprised that she did a fantastic job explaining everything as she is a teacher (retired to help Derek with the channel) and it shows that she is obviously a fantastic teacher as well! Keep up the great work Jessica - you're an inspiration to everyone - most men today couldn't accomplish these tasks on their own vehicles!

Hit “like” right after the intro. I had to swap out that evap cartridge on our 2010 Yukon XL. Felt like a champion when that check engine light went away. I also liked how you wondered what Derek was doing. He always wonders about some 90’s country singer. I wonder what Alan Jackson is doing today.

Excellent video. I always helped my husband work on our 1966 Mustangs, 1988 Thunderbird, 1970 Buick Skylark and 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. But I never was brave enough to attempt repairs or routine maintenance on my own!

True that, although had to laugh at the OBD readers, I've never seen Derek work on anything new enough to know what a computer even is.
I'm not surprised that Jessica knows how to repair her vehicle given that she grew up in the same town as Derek, and likely had her father teaching her all the same things that Derek learned as a young feller. I'm also not surprised that she did a fantastic job explaining everything as she is a teacher (retired to help Derek with the channel) and it shows that she is obviously a fantastic teacher as well! Keep up the great work Jessica - you're an inspiration to everyone - most men today couldn't accomplish these tasks on their own vehicles!

Hit “like” right after the intro. I had to swap out that evap cartridge on our 2010 Yukon XL. Felt like a champion when that check engine light went away. I also liked how you wondered what Derek was doing. He always wonders about some 90’s country singer. I wonder what Alan Jackson is doing today.

I just started the video, but I'm really stoked to see you, Jessica, working on your rig. My mom was the first person to show me how to change an alternator, among other parts. We always had junkers and we changed a lot of parts in part store parking lots. Keep up the AMAZING content you two!

Always loved watching my wife work on her Hummer or whatever else. Unfortunately we lost her in February, I believe Derek is the same age as she was. I try to teach my girls whenever they are willing to learn.

Excellent video. I always helped my husband work on our 1966 Mustangs, 1988 Thunderbird, 1970 Buick Skylark and 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. But I never was brave enough to attempt repairs or routine maintenance on my own!
