I've watched maybe 8 VGG videos & loved them but so far this is my favorite, a dad with his son. Glad the wife was surprised & liked it back. Happy for a safe trip back home.
Beautiful moment when she hugged ya. Back in 86 when I was 16 I put a Budweiser tap handle on my shifter for my 66 Chevy too. It was super tall like that 😂
I've watched you for years and this is one of your best episodes. It's so nice to see you work so hard to make your wife happy. Jessica smiles when she saw her old truck warmed my soul. Blessings to your family.
I’m recovering from open heart surgery and enjoying your videos very much. There’s so much love in each one. This one really stands out though… your love and caring actions to take care of your boy, your excitement to surprise your wife, your love for the machines and the process…. Please never forget how to love your family. That’s the gold. Thank you guys!
Those are my favorite body style of Chevy trucks! Looks great runs great. I had a 67 with a 292, man you couldn’t kill that thing for anything! I tried! Hope to see more of it.
Great job. This is by and far my favorite vehicle episode, and that is saying a lot. Just to see how happy your wife was tells it all. If it were my vehicle I would get rid of the air bags and return it the original height.
3000+ comments ahead of mine but this episode rocks! Always dig when you guys share your back story and this one hits an even bigger rimshot with me who still has his 67 C10 step side from high school and rescued it out of the barn after a 23 year dust nap. Cheers to you guys and Merry Christmas!!!!
I'm 66, I've never forgotten a road trip with dad when I was 8. He said, "hey, son, want a hot dog?" I said, "yes Sir." So we took a quick 120 mile drive and spent the night with my grandparents. I thought we weregoing to the grocery store until we got to Alabama. Lil dude wont forget
Derek, how awesome it is that you bring your boy with you on some of these trips. Some of my most favorite memories was of my Dad bringing me him to work on logging equipment and old trucks circa 1967 in the dead of winter. I remember most clearly his making sure I was warm enough just like you were doing. I watched my Dad intently as he he dealt with the adversity that comes with these challenging jobs and he always made me feel like I was his priority regardless of the challenge at hand. I was always so proud watching him knowing that he was my Dad...as I am absolutely sure your son is and will be so proud of you. Derek, my Dad is long past and my son is 25 already. I would give everything I have to get my 8 year old son back in my truck heading for a job on a cold winter day. Hold on to every second with your children with all of the strength you have. It goes much too fast. God Bless you and your beautiful family.
It brought a smile to my face just pretending I was in your shoes for a minute like I usually do but to see the joy and shock of receiving something that once was lost or sold and to bring it around again for a loved one is truly special as with you and your family. I hope you all had a great holiday season and look forward to you sharing more of what you do and your life with the world and thank you very much for doing so!
As always, great content Derek! Can't believe you came back up to this tundra this time of year to get this truck, but nice job and glad you and the little human made it back safely.

That's 😊 awesome I'm happy for you and your family I live in Minnesota happy you recovered her truck she looks happy keep it up family is everything and I see you feel the same
Wonderful to see how delighted she is with it. Well done sir, my hat's off to you.
Never found a channel that captivates my interest as much as yours. Love the videos, your commentary throughout and wish you all a merry xmas from the UK.
That's awesome! After a couple days of -10 weather around here I sure wouldn't have wanted to take that kind of trip glad you and the little one had a safe(ish) trip and the boss is happy with her present.
The way she looks at our boy at the end, she's head over heels inlove with this man. Aren't we all though? 🐐.
Seeing the love you and Jess have for each other touches my soul! Keep up the good work you guys!
You sir, are a incredible husband, father and all around human being. Merry Christmas to you all.
Best. Episode. Ever. Derek is not just a cool car guy, but a great human raising more great humans the right way! Merry Christmas to you, Jessica and the little fellers...
love the truck , had one like it back when i was 19 , it was army green , ended up painting it primer brown , after driving it for a while i sold it , brings back memory's of my first vehicle ,
What a cool adventure for your son. Your family is just precious. Thank you for sharing all this. God bless y’all
47:50 what a wonderful gift. I f***ing love what you have with Jessica. You all deserve every bit of happiness and success. You both more than earned it. so happy for you guys. say hi to your little humans and Merry Christmas. Thanks Jess & Dereck. All the love.
This is why VGG will always be part of my Friday Evening Schedule. You can help but like a guy that does this for his awesome wife. Having your son go with you was a great addition. Thanks so much for taking us along on your adventures. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I also hope you get some time with the family to sit back and enjoy your hard work from the past year.
From a old man grand dad rode hard & put up wet That's some good Fatherin right there!! YES SIR! Amen! Blessings you guys! BLESSINGS!!
I love these road trips. This is a route I know pretty well, kinda feels like I'm almost along for the ride except it's warm in here. Bentley is growing up with some of THE best memories. Good stuff, Derek.
The smile on Jessica’s face says it all. Merry Christmas to your family Derek, and to the extended VG Family that follows your adventures.
Ok pulling at my heart strings same truck my dad drove 66 with a six banger we had so many adventures and miles in that truck I even remember the license plate number after all thee years. What I would not give to have it back makes me cry. Thanks for the memories and flashbacks. You are an inspiration for us old timers ❤️ family is not dead America lives on in your family.
It warms a guy's heart to see the beautiful family dynamic you fellas and fellates have. ❤
Awesome truck and great memories, I'm glad I never sold my 66, still making memories with it and my grandkids riding in it now.
Love his wife’s smile and happiness here at the end. So genuine
This episode went STRAIGHT to top 3 of my favourite VGG episodes. Happy christmas to the family Derek and also to everyone watching and reading these comments. ❤️
This is my favorite video of yours Derek, I'm glad that you got Longmire back for Jessica, she's so happy that you got him back even though she's not jumping up & down,I could see it in her face that she's glad she has him back
Just watched this episode again and loved(again) the surprise look on Jessica's face when she realized it was her old truck. As always ...epic. Thanks for the great content.
The best part is how a guy buys so many vehicles and travels to so many different places, that his bride didn't really pay enough attention to this one so that a fella could sneak it in under the radar lol. Living your best life right now, buddy Hope you and yours have the best holiday, and the best into the new year. Fist bumps from Canada :)
Outstanding Derek, those of us who are punching above our weight in the wife Dept have to figure out good surprises like this. Yall are awesome, and it is really nice to see you and Bently get this truck back to momma! Merry Christmas yall.
You had the best shogun rider ever. No complaints out of the guy. I think this is my favorite episode.
Absolutely outstanding to do that for your Mrs.
One heck of a husband and family man. Good on ya!
Merry Christmas to you and your family and to everyone watching, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and all the best to you and yours
I've watched maybe 8 VGG videos & loved them but so far this is my favorite, a dad with his son. Glad the wife was surprised & liked it back. Happy for a safe trip back home.
That Was Awesome! I was on the edge of my seat to see Jessica’s reaction! Well Done!! As always Thanks for sharing your adventures Derek!
Great gift for the wife Derek you’re a good husband Happy Holidays to you and the family…
Gotta admit,, I almost teared up there at the end ,, well done Boss well done !! And ….Merry Christmas
Great job. This is by and far my favorite vehicle episode, and that is saying a lot. Just to see how happy your wife was tells it all. If it were my vehicle I would get rid of the air bags and return it the original height.
Your trip with your son, the reaction of your wife, and the feeling you got from a great present - all priceless! Merry Christmas! ~ Chuck
This is a wonderful memory your son will always have. You're a good Dad.
I would have been to the Home Depot for 2 cans of spray foam insulation for the weight reduction remediation. Merry Christmas to the whole gang.
Derek, your boys are blessed with a really great dad...!
Amazing feeling ❤ when I see your videos I love amazing old cars to see how to bringed one🎉🎉
Beautiful soul beautiful wife who appreciated gifts, its LIT BROTHER cheers man.from Australia
Had nice old 65, step side, 283 4 sp, big window cab.
Lot of great memories.
Congrats on the new old truck.
Cheers.
As always, great content Derek! Can't believe you came back up to this tundra this time of year to get this truck, but nice job and glad you and the little human made it back safely.
Man, I have to admit it brought a happy tear to my eyes when Jessica realized it was her old truck. Nice work Derek!!!! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and the fam.
Not a chevrolet guy at all but that is a badass looking truck. Even with all the rusty rust.
