    A little advice get a skid plate asap for under your airtanks. This is what I did in the military I was a 63b (all wheel diesel mechanic for 8yrs) and these were my favorite vehicles. They are extremely light for that size of a truck but still built very tuff. Also as someone else mentioned below before going off road you need to pin the cab to keep it from twisting because it's a cab over truck and the hole cab lifts up and forward to get to the engine and the last thing you want is to be going down a steep hill and the cab fall's forward lol. Last but not least the truck is built with the ctis (central tire inflation system) so use it to your advantage them tires are extremely tuff so when off road drop the air pressure and not only will it be a more comfortable ride but you will get a significant amount of added traction.

      Hey @john Martin I’m looking at buying one of these to start a business to haul frieght around my home state cauld I get away with something like the m1088? Ik they’re built for off road type usage but I saw your comment and seen that you worked on them. What are your thoughts of it being used in the commercial side

    Those are the same chassis as the BAE MRAP. Good design.
    I used to work with the people of Sealy, TX (where they built those) at the start of the MRAP program. Been to that plant 100's of times.

    If you run the CTIS in the Sand or XC (Cross country) settings (aka airing down), you will have a more comfortable ride off road. It will also give you better traction/footing on rocks.

      No,they just are gutless and Electrical Problems constantly.The only good FMTV's were from 1994 to 1998 that had the Mechanical 3116 from Caterpillar.But the FMTV with the 3126/C-7 is just a piece of shit.But equally,the 7.2L Caterpillar is just a useless Engine unless you add Modifications.

    the cab should be pined when off roading

    • @Bushguyrocks
      @Bushguyrocks 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pined? What is pining?

    • @SuperRede4u
      @SuperRede4u 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bushguyrocks I believe that they mean putting extra pins through the cab into the chassis to securely lock it in place. Normally there is just a locking mechanism that keeps the cab in place (tips forward for servicing). Although the mechanism has a triple safety lock in place to prevent it from accidental tipping forward it's not impossible under extreme off road conditions when the chassis has a big twist in it that it could jump free and you'd be looking at a facefull of terrain real quick and up close.

      Ah, so they are not putting pine boards in the cab, they are pinning the cab in place.
