Great job. Please put a seat belt or strap around that AC! Don't want the driver to get squashed in an accident or an emergency stop!
Edit: Never mind, you did it at 13:10! :D

One small observation. I would put the broken valve stem in the spare rim to keep dirt out, other it might be an issue if and when you do it as a spare tire

Their are different meanings of the word "Plenum." One of them is about HVAC. Ducting in controlled space for human comfort, hot or cold. Riley was spot on! Lol. Also install an Inverter, not a converter near battery box. Interverters change voltage from 12V DC to 120V AC. Converters work in the other direction to use 12v truckstop items in the house! Make sure the truck is running during it's use and shut off when engine is not running! Otherwise the obvious will happen! Lol. Shim with blankets or something like, too!

Next upgrade you may want to consider, is to measure the seats you each have and take a few photos [with and without the cushions] then go see a good automotive upholsterer and get two custom made well padded seats for your 1078. I'm retired army and when the army first purchased the HUMMVE, I did this and had a custom made seat cover that I could move from one vehicle to another [as an instructor we switched vehicles constantly] and I rode in comfort and all the other instructors were blown away at how comfortable it was and what a HUGE difference it made in the ride of the vehicle.
Good luck and keep the videos coming.

The cab is actually made by Steyer-Puch (the guys that make the G-Wagon too), and what you have is the sleeper cab, they make a bed for it with storage bins under the bed.

Your vehicle is equipped with CTIS, Central tire Inflationa System, most military vehicles do, the black rectangular module u read “run flat” is thst control box for the system, you changed the tire pressure to run flat which releases air out of the tires until the reach the minimum tire pressure needs to safely drive a short distance. That’s used in the worst traction environments etc driving in snow you drop your air pressure , you can inflat e and deflate the trucks tires while. Driving eith jsut this.
I’d advise watching TH-cam video about the truck. CTIS is SO cool and SO useful . Quick tip, the US Army and Marine Corps have been training maintainers aepcificslly THIS vehicle since the early 80s, if you have equations , jsut post a question or place a Facebook add saying you count int ahdbneed a elajtjiut if whetting

Hey guys, i own and drive a 3.5 ton gross tipper truck, and use it as a daily vehicle, its my only road legal vehicle at the moment, so i go shopping in it, i have picked the kids up from school in it, i have worked using it, its brilliant, its a twin cab, so its got two rows of seats, its really versatile, and it only uses the same amount of diesel, as my bmw uses in gas, but can carry a heck of a lot more, it might not be as fast, but the versatility makes up for it

Courtney learns about an OLD word that's been around a long, long time. Plenum - basically an air distribution box, similar to a manifold. In our Network Control Centers, we used an elevated floor as both a cableway and air-conditioning plenum to cool equipment racks. 24" square floor panels provided access to cable runs and opened a cool air duct under our equipment racks. Mods to our floor layout was always a work in progress as new equipment came and old equipment retired. It was nice that we never had to deal with air ducting.

I would like an LMTV but I would also like my 101 running.
I have had a call made to the police on my dog in my 110 in Paso Robles during the Summer. Somebody really was not paying attention several windows were open and her water boy was sitting in plane sight.
I spent two summers in Chico in the mid 80’s. I preferred driving my Series III 88. It sits in its own shade as it has a tropical roof. The day it was 121 I did think it was a bit warm. Three weeks at 105 - 110 changes one perspective.

Thanks for showing everyone how to use an air conditioner properly! Use of two hoses is a MUST to allow it to work efficiently. The same goes for those portable/wheelable room units with hoses that run to the window. It MUST be a two hose unit in order to run efficiently👌. Exhaust the hot air, intake air is important as well to keep the internal space air pressure stable so that the internal space air circulates and gets cooler and cooler.

So I'm wondering why not insulate the Army truck and the Vehicles you plan on driving a lot. I've done it with my truck and other vehicles for people. It's made driving them so much better. it helps with noise, keeping the heat better in the winter, and also keeps the cold in during the Summer. so you don't have to contently use the Air conditioning

    • @Bruce-ub8dv
      @Bruce-ub8dv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

+1 Agree. A million years ago when I drove Army trucks we use to insulate the floorboards and roofs to keep them warm or cool. It kinda worked back then on the old soft tops. But hey you have a gunner hatch, get a pintle mount and put a water cannon up there or something. :)

Point of clarification, just because a vehicle is over 26,000lb gvw doesn’t mean you need a CDL or because it has air brakes. If that was the case most every RV owner would need a CDL. It has to do with how you use the vehicle. If you are using it for a business or a way to make money then it lands falls under the CMV regulations found in the FMCSRs. Great videos guys keep up the good work!

On the aviation intercom proper mike placement is where you can kiss the mike. Not touching your lips but when mike is in place you can pucker up an you lips will just touch the mike. Replacement mike covers to reduce wind noise are cheap an can be bought at a place like Sportys in Ohio.

To keep rats and squirrels and other critters out of your heater ducts put a bar if Irish Spring soap in the glove box or in the cab. Leave it in the paper box and punch some holes in the box. Replace it every year. The animals don't like the smell and wont stick around. I learned this from an old mechanic when I was trying to keep chipmunks from nesting in my defroster ducts. It works perfectly and doesn't cost a lot.

Consider installing Dyna mat in as much of the cab as you can, then making a custom headliner, flooring, etc. to help with sound and temperature. Tint all the windows and do not skimp on the quality of the tint, it will make a HUGE difference to comfort level. If the rig doesn’t already have it, consider “air ride” seat bases to cushion your ride. And finally, I would fabricate a safety prop for the dump bed so that you can do work safely with the bed in the air. For a crazy upgrade, I would think about a small crane at the front of the bed(I seem some work pickup trucks with these).

Most trucks can mount a hitch. It’d be cool if you can afford the repairs.

That shot after you put the yellow lab in the truck was a hilarious visual affirmation of how much hair flies off of those guys in late spring, lol. I am quite thankful having Maxy Boy my Cairn Terrier when it comes to the shedding thing. A few fuzz balls her and there instead of a layer of fur all around the house and cars literally 30 minutes after vacuuming up the previous layer, lol. Too cute. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

The one thing we don’t need 5 reasons to have one. Is a top 5 reasons for having an absolute beautiful, tall redhead. You sir are a lucky man.

Who needs reasons. Its a truck and you live free to choose.
Try evolution. Pick truck, off road pick up, off road tuck (with dump bed). Tada.
The USA dream. 1 ton pick up, 3 ton truck, Got Bigggera.
