The Lord, who did not give complete darshan even though who stands near Arthamandapam, will provide complete darshan through a small hole in the wall outside the temple.
What we are going to see today is a beautiful place that is more than 1000 years old. You can reach this village called Brahmadesam by travelling about 10km near the village of Perani, in the district of Villupuram.
The majestic 'Brahmapureeswarar' temple is located on the northwest side of the Brahmadesam on the bank of the lake.
In ancient times, this Brahmadesam was called Rajaraja Chaturvedi Mangalam, an independent Brahmadeya village in Panaiyur Nadu, a subdivision of Rajraja Valanaldu. And over time, it was renamed Brahmadesam.
The Pallavas built the temple, and this was believed as per the Durga Statue found here. It covers an area of 4·01 acres. Sri Brahma and other Devas worshipped the presiding deity. He is, therefore, a "Devarusha" Lingam and came to be known as Sri Brahmapureeswarar. The name of the Devi is Sri Brigannayaki.
In 1918 AD, about 34 inscriptions were recorded by the Archaeological Survey of India. The temple has contributions from Pallavas, Chozhas, Pandyas, Chalukyas, Vijayanagara, and Sambuvarayas. The inscriptions belongs to Rajendran-I (1036AD), Kulothunga Chozha-I, Vikrama Chozha, Kulothunga-II, Rajarajan-II, Kulothunga-III, Kopperumsingan-II, Jadavarma Sundara Pandyan, Maravarman Vikrama Pandyan, Chalukya King Narasinga Maharajan,Veeraprathaba Rayar of Vijayanagara & Veerappukkannu Udayar and Samburaiyars. And this is found in the Brahmapureeswarar temple inscriptions.

I am from Chennai. Appreciate your good efforts to help us to understand Ancient Temples of king period. I am happy to know that how much efforts are given by our kings to plan & build this marvelous Temples.
Other side I am very sad and pain that no one care about this and our Hindu Religious Endowments Boards and our Tamilnadu government not even bothered about temple maintenance. In fact it is earnings come from other Temples not used properly. Those days moghuls, islam rulers, western english people looted and demolished the beautiful architecture our temples. Now our own people's are destroying the same. Too painful to see like this beautiful temple's.

Visited this temple recently, it's unfortunate that the locals are unaware of its history. So proud to be here. Whoever visit the temple kindly provide whatever you could to the elderly person, who takes care of this historical treasure. It is also an Archaeological site which is under the Archaeological Survey of India. Please do visit the same.

I promise u every pongal holiday I will go to that temple with all my friends and family... One more request , in my village also so many temples are there. U put effort to explore it . I proudly say my Kalyanampoondy village has 1000 yrs ofPalli konda perumal kovil,shivan temple,kundrin mel irukkum muruga swamy ,etc.. U made my eyes full of tamil architectural tears like wise my village makes u interesting from the name itself.
