my main control board failed after a number of power surges a week ago so was going to add a surge protector - notice you also recommend it - YET - google search suggests you should NOT use a surge protector on a fridge - how certain are you it is the right thing to do? Here's a direct quote from google:
"We do not recommend connecting a refrigerator or freezer to a surge protector. The compressor is sensitive to temperature and current overloads, and will shut itself down with a surge. ... A surge protector will override this system, and if there is a power surge, your refrigerator may not restart."
So - any comments/suggestions? Frankly i'd prefer a surge protector but don't want to mess up my fridge. Thanks!

I read somewhere that this fridge has a "Reset" button. Does that apply when I replaced the control board? The video above doesn't seem to mention it but I'm just making sure.

Hello. I replaced the board and left it on overnight. In the morning, the refrigerator was hot, hotter than the room, and the panel displayed 85 degrees. What could be wrong with it?

Hello, I searched the model number you provided and I am not able to find any information on your GE model. Is this model older than 10 years? Could you please double check the model number? If it is correct you may need to contact GE directly to see if they can provide you a part number for your control board that is available. If they are able to provide you a part number please let us know, we may have it listed under a different GE model that we do carry and check price and availability for you.

Better if it didn't restart than buying another 300.00 board
