True facts about My Mechanics: 1) He, being a machinery whisperer, has a voice no human being can hear - what we heard in the intro is the accurate rendition of his voice if we could hear him. 2) My Mechanics' tears can be used as cold bluing liquid - they are hard to get though. The only occasion to collect them is when My Mechanics realise he left some sharp edges on his work. 3) Even though My Mechanics lives in Switzerland, his house is located on the beach near the ocean. 4) My Mechanics can turn tap water into a powerful degreaser with sheer power of will, but he rarely does it, as he doesn't want to show off.
Well Said!! 5) "There can be Only One" and a chosen protege. "A protégé may have two mentors at the same time-as long at those relationships do not conflict or compete with each other. However, a protégé can have no more than two mentors over their lifetime." ~¿@
Wonderful! It seems to me that My Mechanics and Mr. Patina have a different restoration philosophy: Mr. Patina is for "I want to turn back time and have this object exactly as made by the original manufacturer", while My Mechanics is for "I want this object as the original producer should have made it, if he was professional enough". I admire both of them.
I'm beginning to think that Gressel is the last word in quality vises. Seriously, these vises take severe beatings and still come out looking brand new once restored, even with severe damage. I want a Gressel Vise.
To paint raised lettering quicker and easier, use a piece of cloth, grip it tightly between your fingers so it makes a small round ball, wet it with paint, squeegee the excess and then use the cloth as a stamp. Works marvelously fast and as long as you are careful there is less danger of smearing paint.
for oddly shaped areas like on the vise, you can also use an eraser in the same way to apply paint. The benefit is it won't wrap around the raised lettering at all.
My grandfather was a tool and die maker in his prime. I’m sure if he were alive today to see your posts he’d be beaming with joy at the care you take breathing New life into forgotten tools.
Watching this and reading the comments has given me a cheesy grin on my face and a heart full of the warm fuzzies!! So nice!! And well done!! You guys rock!! 🥰💫
Definitely my next vise will be Gressel ! I watched restoration by you and My Mechanic, and oh boy even rust can't fight vs Gressel !!! My first love was Swiss Tools PB second is Gressel ! Real quality
Great collaboration here! I loved the collaboration with Dr. Beer as well! Clever use of reflection and refraction in the video to highlight the Mister Patina logo too!
Awesssome ,I'm glad that there are still people like that who care about precision and beauty, I thought we were disappearing, I have no words to express my admiration, BRAVO keep up the good work, we are not disappearing! Respect from old BG. p.sss. Please tell me what solutions to use to remove the rust please!!???
Greetings from St. Petersburg! - II And more. Guys, I recently saw an old fractal vise in a garage. Awesome thing !!! You and my mechanics should definitely get one. No kidding!
Wonderful restoration. I like that you used the right amount of grease where it was needed. So many restorers don't. I can't imagine what they are going to look like several years from now! Your vice will be humming along just fine! Great job.
Excellent work! I like the hammertone grey, nice finish. Vintage Gressel and Heuer vises might be common for you Europeans, but they are a scarce gem here in Canada.
Mister Patina makes it look better than new. Thank you, another great start to the weekend. Oh..... almost forgot to congratulate you on the wonderful photography and editing in this video. ❤
I've never seen that mix as a rust remover but I know it's a great penetrating oil. And it doesn't look like it removed any rust Looks great and a wonderful job restoring it!!! Enjoyed the video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Detail work in smoothing the edges on parts is amazing, love the effort put in. It looked beautiful just in the raw metal without paint. What kind of spray grease was used? I can smell the lanolin from here
Have you tried lightly polishing before you cold blue and then burnishing with “0000” steel wool after the first application? You will probably get a better result. Beautiful restoration all in all though. Keep up the good work. Love your content.
Hmm... I'm sorry, I changed my mind about the gift. Could you please send it back to me? 😉
Haha, I’ll bring it back and you get some cold beers! 🍻 thanks man!
Haha, just kidding 😉 good job
Great friendship.
nice game
The great godfather of restoration is here !

So what your saying is my mechanic is. Chuck Norris.
My mechanics can close a revolving door
MyMechanics can cold blue aluminum, he just hasn’t had the chance to do it yet.
My Mechanics can UN-make a new one if he so chooses - he just chooses NOT to.

Haha, thats a pretty cool, and very true comment! Thanks Ermanno!
All the friendships on restoration TH-cam make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I love how the my mechanics intro has him carefully taking the sharp edges off something, haha. So true to character.
Haha, yes you could identify him just by watching the first 3 seconds of filing 😄
@@misterpatina the perfection is absolute in my mechanics... Nothing to add! But you’re the closest to him, in my opinion!
I'm beginning to think that Gressel is the last word in quality vises. Seriously, these vises take severe beatings and still come out looking brand new once restored, even with severe damage. I want a Gressel Vise.
A Wilton Bullet Vice is also a nice choice in vice's.
Nice intro and awesome work bro 😎👍🏻🍻
Haha, thanks man! 🍻

Yep
Fascinating to watch a craftsman at work...
Thanks Peter, iam glad you enjoyed! 🙂
i think "smoothening" is my new favorite word
As I've said before, your workmanship is first class and it is a joy watching you restore items that would generally be described as junk
You can plug holes for painting with Aluminum foil. Awesome restoration!!!!
Otra estupenda restauración de tornillo de banco atascado 'Gressel', respetos desde Venezuela.👍🤜🔥🤛💯👍
Your attention to detail and quality of workmanship measure well even against my mechanics. That is really the highest compliment I can give. Thanks.
Hey Eben, thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate.
Scoutcrafter would be proud of you-he always reminds us to never be stingy with the 50:50!
Love the restoration & the collaboration with My Mechanics. Hope to see more
Maria, iam glad you enjoyed! You definitely will! 🙂

Sandblasting. ..filing...and edge smoothing. All my favorite things to watch.
AWESOME job sir!!!
I highly recommend getting an angle grinder with a cup wheel to remove most of any rust or scale on old equipment.. such a time saving device

Haha, didn’t think about that 😄
I watch a lot of restoration videos and I love how you, My Mechanics, Dr. Beer and Tysy Tube are so supportive of each other 😍

Love the subtle humor.
Somedays I forgot I've already liked your videos and try it twice, or three times in a row.

acetone and transmission fluid are also a better penetrating oil than WD-40. Nice to see you use that!
Great job! Don’t forget to bolt it to the workbench.

Love your use of different camera angles. Really lets the viewer get in close. Very satisfying to watch. A pity that vice is too good to use now!
Your line on the OCD screw setting nailed your subscribe. I would have done the same.

Nice work and a nice gift from the master of restoration
The finished product reflects the passion you put into this restoration, well done! Cheers from OZ.
Thanks man, i really appreciate!
Watching you saw the wood at the end reminds me of my instructor saying “you paid for the whole saw blade use the whole saw blade”
Haha, you’re totally right, same with files. But it was a little tricky because the vise wasn’t mounted to the work bench 😣
Wolf whistling your vise.
Great work man!
Sehr schön! Ihr beide seid ein super Team!
Danke!
