One day you'll sit back in your mansion in beautiful Northern Italy looking down at Laggio di Como and you will think to yourself: "man I was such a smart bro to buy myself a lathe and to polish a vise like Not Terrible Restorations did it" See you soon 😊
Vice restoration is an equivalent of how in evolution everything goes to crab. Every restoration channel has a vice video or two or even more. Not complaining, these things are impressive, and so are the videos and work put into them!
During the electrolysis process to restore woodworking hand planes, I used to use Boraxo washing powder, but I think it’s been discontinued and hard to find. It did a very good job and didn’t need an additional rust treatment. I haven’t tried baking soda. Great job!
As always taking an ordinary old used up piece of equipment and making it extraordinary. Two star to five star. Far greater than the vise was brand new from the factory those many years ago!
I've seen lots but this is the First time I've seen someone repair a bench vise without putting bondo / body filler on it to hide rust blemishes, good job!, great resto!

I'm done grinding the cast marks and I covered the rest with putty, I sanded it down to make it smooth... it's ready for painting now. But mine is in much better shape than yours. I'm speechless... Great job btw!

Man, what a makeover. The turned screw on the end of the handle is a nice touch. Good vice saved from the melting furnace. Fantastic job....again!! Thank you Mr P. for all these cool videos.
Outstanding job Mister Patina! You got my attention when you looked at those old jaws and said, " I don't like these, I'll make new ones!" Time means nothing when you do perfect work like this. Keep the videos coming!

You work like a guy who has the absolute maximum amount of patience ever. As a person with bad but controllable anxiety these videos really calm me down if I’m worked up! 🤣😅 awesome work thank you!
One can buy a brand new one at fraction of price compared to what it had cost restoring it but one can not buy the satisfaction by restoring it. That's priceless! Nice job. 🇨🇦
Nice job and appreciate your work 9:00 When you mill the vise to get a perfect surface, you should mill the base circle first in order to get a perfect reference base. Otherwise, even you make a perfect surface on the upper part, when you put the vise on the bench, these milled surface will be slanted.

Just a reminder to viewers that WD-40 is great, but the base version is not a rust breaker, which is usually what you want when you have parts seized by rust. The best ones are usually a combination of a rist breaker and a lubricant, such as the infamous acetone/atf fluid mix.
