Since Disney failed to in their all their new stories under the Disney hows ( including their animated ones ) they dug all the unfinished stuff. Jonathan Shoucair At this point Vader was 80% of the Emperor (if they stuck to that Legends fact). If Maul couldn't beat Dooku when in his "prime" (I'd think TPM was his prime before his defeat rather than TCW), he will make it interesting to Vader, but nothing more.
i would love to watch those two duel on this show. however, the honor will go to Obi-Wan (Ben) Kenobi.
There was a comic before the revival of Maul where he faces off against him in his prime. Basically Vader gets called to a backwater planet and its a trap by Sith sorcerers who feel Vader is unworthy, so they brought back Maul in his prime with dark magic. It goes pretty one sided as Maul taunts Vader constantly like "I slew Obi-wans master, and Obi-wan slew you!" (ironic since obi-wan slew both of them). Although he ends up beating Maul and he asks "What could you hate enough to kill me?" "Myself"

@@toji6476 maul and Vader were both Jedi but they were taken by Palpatine turning them both into sith lords but maul fought back against his former master dooku and greivious then after his mother's death he became a shadow then Vader took the place of sith lord but maul should have bested Vader from his training with Palpatine aka the emperor

They kept on calling him a Sith in The Phantom Menace, but he came off as more of an inquisitor than a sith in that movie. But with the way he is portrayed in The Clone Wars and Rebels, all wise and scheming, there is no doubt in my mind that Darth Maul is a Sith in every sense of the word.

It is still somewhat unclear if Palpatine only used Maul as a weapon or if Palpatine indeed truly planned on fully training Maul to become his successor because Palpatine was always aware of Anakin's existence and his potential in the force. I don't think Maul was portrayed as an inquisitor in The Phantom Menace, but his character was unlike anything we've seen before and since, a freakin' Sith ninja lol. Maul was obviously trained at a much higher level than any inquisitor in both martial skill and in the force.

None of those inquisitors stood even a chance against him. He was a full fledged sith lord and they were wannabe dark padawans. To maul it wasn't a duel to the death, it was lambs walking into the slaighterhouse

Sam Witwer already worked for Rebels even before Maul. He voiced Darth Sidious in Siege of Lothal
Francesco Brosolo He also was Starkiller in Force Unleashed, as well as the Emperor in the first game.
What I love about this is that it is a demonstration of the continual evolution of Maul's style. Not including Legacy canon, Maul clearly started his training like most with a single bladed standard saber yet by the time of the Battle on Nahboo he had dedicated himself to the saber staff favoring getting more hits in by combining the rapid one-two offensive of the staff with both kicks and pommel strikes.
After his defeat, and having the saber he switched back to single bladed combat, often switching to twin blades when backed into a corner. During the Clone Wars we also see him implement more physiological tactics as well, trying to enrage and unbalance his opponent.
Here we see him revert to the saber staff but with a much reduced handle & favoring a one handed style that continues to be augmented by punches, kicks & offhand strikes. Well also making use of intimidation and unbalancing tactics.
I mean Maul has a point 😂

Seeing Maul and Ahsoka fighting side-by-side after watching the finale of the Clone Wars is incredible, these two characters have come so far by this point, easily two of my favourite Star Wars characters of all time.

I’d like to imagine that later on when Maul sends Kanun and Ezra up the elevator on their own, leaving him with Ahsoka, that they have a small talk alone about how Maul’s predictions of the fall of the republic had come to pass, and about how he was right about Anakin.

the Darth Maul & Savage Opress VS Darth Sidious fight was really dope though. the amount of skill and arrogance displayed by sidious was insane.
I was hoping for a more acrobatic fight when Maul got involved but everyone just stood in place, bashing their lightsabers against each other.
I think the inquisitors were wary of maul, playing it safe because of how long it had been since anyone had seen him fight.
