1430hrs. This is the only guy, thanks by they way, who showed how to put on the gearcase/cam chest cover. I have been thru numerous videos, chats, manual, and ???. So thumbs up. Have a good day.

Great videos. Im changing tappets , i believe they should be checked on 20 to 50 000km's, depends on cams and riding style. Bought 4 of them form Hammer Performance 2024. 100$. Also tappets / hydrulic lifters can be used from AMC MOPAR american v8 cars. They are the same but cheaper. 1999 hd begin using 0.7 inch diameter tappets , and in my xl 1998 they are older 0.903 diameter tappets.
Hi thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already done so, it is exactly the same procedure from 2005 to 2022 the last year of air cooled sportsters .
@@DIYMagpiHi, very nice vid! Andrews states that for 04 up sportsters, head modification is needed to install N4 cams. Did you perform some head mod? What model year is you bike? THX
@@AB-ho8pc Honestly I did not do any modifications , I used 1200 heads from a 48 and the bike has been running great since the video was made which is well over a year .
Hello, thanks for the video.i have an xl883,2007model. is it possible to replace the cams without dismantling the rods? I saw only videos whit total dismantling. Thanks and excuse me for my english
Thanks for watching the video. Please subscribe it helps grow the channel. You need to loosen the top. Otherwise, the pressure from the rocker arms on the push rods will keep the cams from coming out. In short, no, you can't replace the cams without removing the rockers .
Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already done so. Great question. I forgot to include that part in the video. I removed the rockers, so there was no pressure on the pushrods or lifters, allowing the cams to be installed normally.
22 years ago i installed the Andrews n4. Cams perfectly. Now due to a blunder im redoing it BUT i CANT FIND ANY MARK ON THE CRANK TO ALIGN CAM #2 . Ive lookef and even used a magnifying glass to no avail!! Si i set the crankshaft through the viewing port between at Top Dead Center and aligned the marks Aaaaannnd Nope ,Not Today!! Since i Cant See the crank mark is there another method of fetermining i have the crank shaft in proper position to set the rest of the assembly????
@@DIYMagpi bought it new 23 years ago(2001 )I rode it 700 miles on it and I don't remember being lucky enough to see the mark on the crankshaft that connects the oil pump. Yes, there is a nice pick up at around 3000 rpm. Bike feels completely different in terms of low down torque. There is better cams . I went with the N4 due to them being readily available and reasonably priced.
@@DIYMagpi I recently bought a 94 hugger 883 with 1200 conversation with the 1200 valves and small chamber heads and the n4 cam, I really like it, 55mpg.
Did you change out the lifters at all? I’m thinking about getting the N4’s I currently have the W’s in mine because it’s a 2000 1200s so it came stock with W’s… long story short going to drop in fueling hp+4000 and some n4’s. How are you liking them still??
@jaredkish992 I left the stock lifters in place as I'm only going Stage 2 on the sportster , The stock lifters will handle and function within normal parameters with the N4 Cams. i.e. not a deal breaker. Great pick up at 3000rpm. Feels more responsive. Thanks for watching and please subscribe.

Thanks for watching and please subscribe, if you haven't already done so. it helps the channel grow. Good spot on the cam lobs , not lubing that part won't lead to a detrimental effect as the oil will flood into that area upon engine startup. But you do make a valid point. The bike has been running perfectly since assembly.
