    This is actually meant for up to a 6 L gas motor. Not a 6 cylinder motor. This started my 6.4 l V8 gas Hemi engine in my 2016 Ram 2500 that had a bad battery with no problem. It actually jump-started it three times in a row before I could go get a new battery. I did make sure it was 100% before jump starting my truck. And after three jump start I think it only went down to 75%.

    I purchased the GB40 for my wife’s 2021 Honda passport and have only used it on other peoples cars. The biggest engine it has jumped was a 5.3 liter Tahoe without any problems. I liked it so much I purchased the GBX55 for my F150. Great video sir!

    I'm watching this after already purchasing one, but I'm feeling good about my choice from the limited options I had. I do A LOT of solo driving, and my battery in my 2016 was going bad. It's left me stranded several times this week where I didn't have anyone around to jump me. I got a new battery but I also wanted to never be stuck again so I got myself one of these. Glad to know it's dependable. Bonus points for the animals 😄

      I did the same thing. I was stranded on the side of 264 for 5 hours Friday night... dead battery. Saturday I bought a new battery and ordered a Noco off Amazon. I will NEVER go through that again, Lord willing.

    Boost Mode (aka Manual Override) should only be used if the unit cannot detect a charge on the battery that is less than 2 volts -- appears you had some issues starting it, but you got it working. It's a great product!

    I have the gb70. on a full charge the same thing happened to me because of gm's stupid side post batteries, you really have to make sure to get a solid connection. thanks for the videos man. so many people like myself make buying decisions based on info from videos like urs. I 100% recommend these noco genius products. I live in nc so its not too cold. but boy it gets hot. I have jumped more than 30 cars with mine that sits in the back of my hot truck all the time. I only charge it when it dies. I have owned it for about 2 yrs now and only charged it twice. that being said. the one I have "gb70" is like the "big" brother to the gb40. the bg40 is 7k joules and 1k amps, the gb70 is 15700 joules with 2k amps. the gb70 is also twice the price but worth every penny. thanx againg for the video!

      Exactly! There are millions of sponsored BS "infomercial" videos about the greatness of products. This is one of very few honest true consumer tests. I am currently hunting for a starter help and I'm trying to decide between a supercapacitor one and one of these "older" LiIon ones. A plus with a supercapacitor is that you don't need to charge it but I am a bit concerned about life span for such a new technology (for consumers, I know it has been used in other applications)

    • @steveo601
      @steveo601 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep and you have to hold the little red button down for 5 seconds at least and all the lights start flashing. The “boost” part is the removal of all backwards voltage safety features. An excellent feature to have to literally save your a- but at the risk of blowing it up. Do not get one that doesn’t have this feature. It may not see your battery if it’s too dead and your screwed!

    The GB40 left my wife stranded in 34 degree temperature at 4:30 a.m. in the cold dark morning hours... it was cold, wet, and windy and she remembered that I put a brand new fully charged GB40 in her Buick with a 3800 series V6 engine....well let’s just say it didn’t have enough power to even turn the engine a full revolution. It cranked a few really slow half revolutions and it was completely drained so I had to come to the rescue with the “o’l faithful jumper cables” I would NOT purchase the GB20 or the GB40 if you have a 6 cylinder vehicle or larger... We borrowed a friends Everstart Maxx 600 peak amp jump starter and it will start the Buick right up no problem and still have a full charge. NOCO must of chooched them numbers up for sales, however we will not be relying on the GB40 for emergencies anymore. It works great to jump start my riding lawnmower though. I would personally buy the GB70 or GB150.

    I have the GBX75 and it is a super good product. Not only will it start a Diesel over and over again, it will also hold it's charge for ages. You can literally pull this out of your trunk after a year and it will still be at 100%. And this is stuff that just won't show in test videos and comparisons. Numbers don't tell it all. The product has to perform on the road, in real life. And Noco does. You actually used it wrong, but it still worked, which is another great aspect. These things are made pretty fool proof. I can't recommend it enough.

    Any vehicle battery that’s been sitting for six months with no charge is internally sulfated and destroyed. It would be best to charge it at a low rate rather than use the alternator. With that said, I believe the GB40 is a fine product.

    When it doesn’t read the battery (because it’s too low) it won’t work. The red button allows you to override this when you press it for 3 seconds. That way it will force battery into your car. But once you do, all safety measure will be turned off so don’t not mix up positive and negative. Owners manual says it is compatible with anything between v2-v12

    Just a comment from here in Ireland. I have a 2009 Honda Accord 2.2ltr 4 cylinder diesel and the battery in my car is bigger than that in the video. My 2009 Audi A3 1.9ltr 4 cylinder diesel also shares the same size battery. I know battries go flat/dead but you seem to have a small battery for the engine size.
    Love the video.

    NOCO website says GB40 is good for gas engines up to 6L. That second crank would probably have been successful if you'd cycled the key a few times to prime the fuel system. ;) (Can you tell I have a bunch of junk sitting around that I have to coerce into starting?) Good vid.

      Cycling the ignition to make sure your fuel is primed was a good tip. Starter spray is also good in these situations when you only have a few chances before battery is drained. Warming or heating the block and the battery is a tip as well.

    Chances are better that great, that old battery itself sucked a lot on energy from the booster's battery pack, and wasn't able to return into to the starter motor

    These videos are hard to figure out as some say they’re good,some say no good,hard to drop good money on something that has such mixed reviews. I work up in northern British Columbia and Alberta where it hits -44 c sometimes in winter so I need something reliable. My cars always start no matter what even without block heaters but it’s always good to have a backup.

    • @robertraman6307
      @robertraman6307 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t rely on smaller booster packs in cold winter climate, I live in the north of Sweden with similar climate. Went for the GBX75 for a Corolla 1,6 L 4 cyl and also bought a brand new battery for the car. I will buy another GBX75 so I have two and can boost my Land Cruiser that uses two 12 V batteries to get 24 volt to the 4,5 kilowatt starter (the Corolla starter is something like 1,1 kw) The Land Cruiser is fitted with a 3,5 L, 5 cyl diesel without a turbo that starts really easy but I bet when it won’t crank you are in trouble due to the 24 V system. A single car can’t jump start you. I intend to use one booster on each battery.
      As a backup to the booster I keep large torch candles and a tarp as well as starter spray in the trunk to heat the booster, the battery, the oil pan.

    i think they make a wire kit that has lugs on them. So you can basically bolt the lugs to the battery studs and leave them there till you plug the Noco in when you need it. So you dont have to use the clamps. Most of the time the clamps are fine, but these gm side stud battery are ridiculous.
