Started my completely dead 6.0 powerstroke. Had to use manual override and it took a few attempts but it did it. I’m happy with it. It’ll be there to assist on cold starts.
I purchased the 15700 GB70. After using it twice and the warranty expired, the unit refused to turn on, the flashlight worked and showed full charge. I contacted NOCO and the guy who got back to me freely admitted that the power button has had "soldering issues". He was kind enough to send me a 15% coupon on a new unit. I now own the most expensive flashlight I ever had.
Thank you for the feedback and for sharing that. It's helpful insight as other viewers to our channel are looking to make the most informed purchase decisions.
I've had my GB70 booster now for a year and I've boosted more than 10 times on several different vehicles - all on the first charge. I've never found the cable orientation to be much of a problem. There is more than enough length to connect the cables and still have the light pointed at the terminals. I don't know why they chose to reverse the cables, there may have been some technical or space-saving reason, but it's never been a problem for me.
That's awesome to hear and thank you for your feedback. That was our guess too on the cable orientation - likely a technical or space saving/packaging reason. Thank you for watching our video!
If the flashlight orientation causes you grief, maybe angle it upward and use the hood/bonnet to kick the light back toward the engine bay - the flashlight is extremely bright.
Happened to me yesterday 😂. Just realized thar my 800A chinese jumper it's not powerful enough to start my diesel pickup. Ordered a Noco Gb70 to give it a try.
The GB70 is only a jump starter, not a tire inflator. Here is a video that might be helpful if you are looking for a portable tire inflator: th-cam.com/video/tMPx2XIERrk/w-d-xo.html
I am thrilled with this product and have already placed an order for one. I have a question that came to mind after watching your instructional video. In the video, the clamps are attached directly to the battery terminals. Isn't it standard practice to connect the negative clamp to the vehicle’s chassis ground instead of directly to the battery terminal? Could you please clarify if there is a specific reason for the direct connection to the battery poles, or if connecting to the chassis ground is also acceptable with this product? Thank you !
That was partly done in the video to show how the BMS (battery management system) won't allow you to have any sort of spark or reverse polarity ... essentially, the GB70 isn't active until it's hooked up properly - or put another way, a novice who doesn't have a lot of experience with cars can't accidently use the jump starter the wrong way as the internal software prevents them from doing so. I don't specifically know about the chassis ground, but the owner's manual recommends connecting directly to the battery terminals itself: www.manua.ls/noco/genius-boost-hd-gb70/manual?p=3 When I was a service advisor back in South Dakota, we had a jump box under the main service desk. If a vehicle needed a jump in order to get it in the bay, we would always attach right to the battery terminals directly. However, other sources support what you are saying about the negative clamp: www.midtronics.com/blog/whats-the-right-way-to-jump-start-a-battery/ I hope that is helpful. Thank you for watching our video. ~ Carl
Silly question but is it possible to have too much power? If I used this gb70 on lets say, a snowmobile to jump start it.... would the 2000amp cause damage? As 2000amp jumpstart would be overkill for a powersports machine
Yes, this unit would be overkill . . . however, the internal battery management software should recognize the battery it's connected to. Before we reviewed the GB70, we met with the NOCO product development team who said that the software was designed to prevent the GB70 from "hitting a smaller battery with everything it's got," but rather to only rely the power necessary to start the battery you are attached to.
The 2000A is only a maximum possible current the unit can supply. It's similar to the Ah rating on a battery. The 12V part is the important number. As long as your battery is 12V it will work OK. The starter will draw as much current as it needs to start - starters on smaller engines draw less current. You can use this to power 12V tire pumps, boost motorcycle batteries and more. I've used mine on all of the above. The USB output can also be used for cellphones.
works , but i dont think it does 40 jumps. maybe 5? i have one and i have to charge mine already and i swear ive barely used it since ive bought it . went to go help someone and looked dumb lmao . took 7 hours to charge it with usb .
That is odd . . . just double checked the owners manual hoping I might be able to help you, but yeah, the solid red light is an indication of reverse polarity. Did you register it? Try this email for a customer service contact: support@noco.co ~ Carl
Yes, it should come with a 40-inch micro USB cable for charging and an XGC extension cord with a 12V male and female adaptor. Using the micro USB cable and a USB wall charger, it takes about three hours to charge fully if the internal battery is completely empty.
Hello everyone. My Noco GB 70 does not work properly. It allows you to start the car engine only if the car battery is not completely discharged. But if the car battery is discharged to such an extent that the starter does not even "click" - the booster is useless. I connect it and nothing happens. Even the manual mode does not help (although the car battery is charged more than 2V). This is very strange and unpleasant. Tested on: BMW E60 m54 (2.0l), Opel Omega (2.0l)
@Automoblog Yes, the battery condition is really quite bad. It is hard for it to hold a charge at cold temperatures outside. But I have seen many videos where the car battery did not even turn on the lights in the cabin, but after connecting the booster the car started. That is why it seemed strange to me that my booster does not start the car, even when the original car battery is not completely discharged (turns on the lights in the cabin and clicks the starter). But I understand, thanks for the answer!
@@VariousSurveys If the battery is so discharged that the jumper cannot detect it, use the red exclamation mark button (manual override). Hold it for 3 seconds, and the charging will start regardless.
Yes, it sure can. The GB70 will handle gasoline engines up to eight liters and diesel powertrains up to six liters in displacement, including late-model HD trucks from the Big Three. That said, you will be fine to use it on a smaller vehicle. There is also an internal battery management system (i.e., software) that tells the NOCO GB70 to only deliver the juice required by the battery needing a jump. Essentially, it can tell the difference between a lawnmower battery and a truck battery and adjust its power delivery accordingly.
I assure you this booster will NOT jump start a 3.0ltr turbo diesel battery! I have both this particular booster and a nissan elgrand what won't jump start with this booster pack
