Keep your battery pack in the vehicle. Some people keep it in there home. It’s not going to do any good if it’s back at the house and you need the vehicle has a dead battery. Anyway if you can afford it replace your battery every four years. That’s about the life time of a car/truck battery. You can get it replaced at any local auto parts store or your mechanic can do it. It’s usually free installation at auto parts store and the battery price less. I’ve done this for over fifty five years and never had to jump start a vehicle. It’s a good idea to still have a pair of good quality jumper cables in case your battery pack is to weak or you forget to recharge it every few months. Make sure you buy a wire gauge of 2/4 and you don’t need twenty foot long cables. The smaller the number of gauge wire the better transfer of power from a good battery. It will say on the package or ask the auto parts guy. A bit more money for quality. Yes today’s batteries work hard with all the power we use in our vehicles. I recharge my battery every couple of months with my battery charger . You can buy a no maintenance battery. If you purchase a battery with caps you have to check the water in the cells. Always use distilled water if you have to add a bit to bring to the level line. Good luck happy driving.😁

What a brilliant review and demos! I have just purchased one of these jump.starters off Amazon with same day delivery and I'm a 73 yr old lady living alone with no one to help me here in the UK . The booklet that came with this battery has such tiny writing in it that I couldnt read it properly and I needed to be shown how to use the NOCO Boost Plus GB40 on my 21 year old car, which wouldn't start 3 days ago and the battery completely drained at 2 attempts turning it over. Theres another guy on TH-cam that did a test on a bunch of starters and rated the GB40 low. I had already seen a number of reviews which raved about the GB40. So here I am confronted with two cars, a 4 cyl and a 6cyl, it was -5 during the night and it was still frosty. The GB40 just unplugged from charging as it was brand new the day before. Hooked it up to the 4, no problem. Hooked it to the 6 and nothing so I did a safety bypass and it started. I checked it after starting two really cold engines and it was still 100%. The best test is the practical application of the product and this video goes above and beyond. I highly recommend the GB 40. Its a solid jumper.
This is inspiring to watch someone be so confident around a variety of older vehicles in crummy condition. Gives me hope for myself and my old car! Thanks!
Very impressed. I just received my GB 40 this morning. And I think I made a good buy. Thank you for your video. I was watching the steps you took to make it work. You are the real deal my friend.
The Exclamation point, is the manual override if the GB40 can't detect the battery. This does remove some of the safety features with it so it's a mode only to use if needed. Otherwise in most cases the device will go right into boost mode.
My Kia Sportage has been sitting in the cold for a week I forgot to start it up so the battery is dead .I order this jump starter after watching this gives me hop
I also have a GB40 & after watching your video/review, I’m glad I purchased it! It has countlessly jump started my Tahoe & other vehicles without a hitch! (Just as yours... completely dead batteries). ALWAYS is in my truck or whatever vehicle we take long trips in. 👍👍
I'd say if I had to boost my rig more then a couple of times, I'd be shopping for a battery, or charging system. I had car that I didn't drive much and waited a couple of months before I replaced the battery but these little things came in handy. Just don't forget to charge it at least a couple times a year.
I was doing property maintenance at a hotel for the past 6 years or so, and that would usually involve helping people with flats in our parking lot, or dead batteries. Our boss bought us one of these and it came in handy constantly. We'd just make sure it was charged up and any time somebody needed a jump, just basically hit a button and send them on their way
This continues to be the best test of this little gem gadget. I bought one right after I saw your video. Peace of mind in the glove compartment!! Thanks again!
Great video. When using this booster, turn the engine over for 3-5 seconds. If it doesn't start wait about a minute and try again. This prevents the booster from draining down so quickly and gives the battery a chance to charge a little. The lights will scroll back in forth if the unit can detect the battery. I think the battery has to have a least 2-5 volts in order for it to detect it. That's why the lights didn't scroll on the completely dead batteries. Once you press that override button it allows the unit to act like straight jumper cables (Disables all safeties and limitations (Cables will spark if touched together in this mode) ). Some of the comments below mention that the unit drains when store in their vehicle during winter months. I store mine in a small case that is kept in my SUV all the time. I charge it maybe every 4-6 weeks during the winter to keep it fully charged.
I own A NOCO GB40 myself and I'm very impressed with it. After watching this video I'm really glad i bought it know it can go to the extreme. Great video.
@@michaellackie3756 yeah, it has, I just used mine yesterday to start a Toyota 2.2 diesel with a totally dead battery that didn't light the dash. Just leave it connected for 30 seconds or so before you crank. Sorry, gb70 also not a 40.
There is no question ...it's very powerful & appropriate electronic device & my decision to have it was correct !!! Because it proved able to started my engine in a fraction of a second & it's far superior to my other devices of course some much cheaper but from what I heard it can being charged endless times & it have a powerful light too !!! On top of that it's very simple to used it !!!even a woman can do that !!!first hook the positive & then the negative then push the activation bottom on & immediately turned the auto key on !!! Then as soon the engine started pushed the bottom off & first disconnected the negative & last the positive & you are done !!! It's simple as that!!! It eliminated time & long gables !!! Time is everything & simplicity superb !!!
Amazing. Really hard to believe such a small thing could perform so well. Heck even using another running car to jump a dead battery it often takes several minutes before you can get a car to crank like that does in seconds.
I have bought 5 of these devices (all different brands/models/amp rating) , 3 of them for friends. From 450 to 900 amps. We are amazed and enjoy amazing other people with them.
if this does not impress people dont know what will, and mine is the 500 amp bigger really brilliant bit of kit, for something so small how things have moved on since i was in car job 40 odd years ago, but making a profit for sure will still be as hard now as then, good luck to you.
Check out a video on the OZ-CHARGE RESCUE MATE it doesn't need charging doesn't have an internal battery it gets its charge from the dregs of the battery its hooked up to...Amazing technology.
The real test would be to - store the charger in the car for a few days in the cold ( below freezing )and see if it jumps a battery . Since most people will store this in their car trunk.
Yea thats a great point, I work one week in one week out at a fly in camp in Canada, I bought a bigger dewalt charger that I left in back seat, after one week of sitting at -30c it would not start my Ram 1500. So i learned my lesson and bought this one, specifically so I could take up with me in my carry on bag. Im not going to take the chance of leaving it in the glove box in the middle of winter.
I have a similar type of power source and have gotten 4 jumps out of it over the course of a day. I do not leave it in the car during the summer when it's hot. Haven't had an issue with the cold but these things are so compact you could easily carry it in a computer bag or pocketbook when leaving the car.
I haven't yet to use this on my truck yet. But I boosted several at work. Saved alot of people money at hotels a few times. I love that you just started going around boosting vehicles after lol
Thank you so much for this video! I just bought the NOCO GB40 yesterday and am waiting for it to charge before trying it on my dead battery in my 1999 Mazda Miata.
I have the NOCO GB30. I use it to jumpstart my project cars. I also bring it on my motorcycle camping trips to charge my cell phone and in case I need to jump start my bike. Highly recommend it.
I just purchased the Noco battery pack yesterday , and your channel popped up. I feel positive about my choice , of course I researched first but I'm sold. Thanks for the tutorial.
I just purchased one of these myself. After having a niece stranded in Atlanta off I75 in heavy traffic, where jumper cables were useless, I vowed never again. After doing a lot of research, I chose the NOCO GB40. Excellent review. Thank You.
this video made me buy one, and it's worth it's weight in gold pressed latinum, if you're thinking about getting one you will not regret it, people that i've help can't believe such a little thing is so powerful 1.5-V8s this thing kicks over with no strain
I greatly appreciate your honest review and demonstration. NOCO will be pleased to know that after watching your video, I ordered the 150, case and AC charging adapter. Your GREAT presentation made all the difference for me... THANKS!!
Very impressed with the GB40. I have a GB150 that hasn't let me down yet. But, I have to say that as impressive as the GB40 was - those Subaru's starting after all that time was just as impressive to me. I'm an American car guy, but I have always said that if I was to buy Japanese; it would be a Subaru. Thanks for the great video! 1st time watching your channel, but I enjoyed the honest review. And yes-I did subscribe and rang the bell!!!
Had one of these for couple years very happy I recharge of small solar panel and the charge my cellphone and lites and other things in the mountains ,wouldn't be without one. Used it a couple times to start my diesel rig. ,they done good 👍 👌 👏
Thank you very much for this video! I loved that you tested the product in the cold. I'm a beginner driver and this looks like a great product to have for precautionary measures!
Have one for a couple of years now, works great. I don’t turn mine on till after I hook it to the battery for safety reasons. That why you get a caution light.
18:29 "these days its getting hard to find somebody who will stop and pull out a set of jumper cables and jump ya"....Actually dude its not hard to find somebody who will "jump ya" these days just not with jumper cables...Usually its with a knife or a gun.
I drive a tow truck and use my GB 150 almost every day, usually on a car with a bad alternator, so on very flat batteries I need to leave it connected while I drive the car. The problem with that and the reason I bought the largest booster is that a flat battery is a huge load and will suck the life out of even my GB 150 in a few minutes as it charges from the booster while starting the engine and then running the car. Fortunately batteries that are not that low, while still too low to start, are still sitting close to or above the boosters voltage, so that's not a problem with Noco chargers. It is a problem however with cheaper units that use lower output capacity cells in 4S configuration to make up for their much larger voltage droop under load. The Nocos boosters use only a 3S config but with much better cells that droop very little under high load. 3S is much safer for the vehicle since the most a 3S L-ion battery can ever present is 12.6v, while a 4S can at full charge exceed 16.5v. That's getting into the danger zone for the electronics on some cars and I'd consider that too risky for my purpose. And BTW, The safest way to connect is with the unit powered down completely. Press the button after hooking it up. But it's no big deal really. The reason it didn't start by itself on the completely dead batteries is because there was not a high enough voltage on the car battery for the booster to know if polarity is correct. in which case it wont start up. Pressing the over ride button gets around that problem by bypassing the safety, so just make double sure you have the connections right first. In the 18 months I've been using my 150, The minute I got it I'd accidentally charged it off a 24v outlet in the truck till the outlets fuse blew. Now the cells only charge to 11.8v max. (not sure if they were damaged but it still works fine otherwise.) I'd tried starting cars with shorted alternator diodes and other problems causing overload cut out and pretty sure I've had it cut out on over temp a few times too, It's let some smoke out of a few bad starter motors and just starts everything I thow at it. It even started a couple of 24v trucks(meduim rigid) by connecting it to the weaker of the two batteries. The only down side of 3S(aside from requiring expensive high current cells) is that when the car(with a good alternator) does start, the alternator voltage is too high and can damage the boosters battery, which is still directly connected. All that will do to a 4S booster is charge it back up (provided it can even get that low and still start a car.). Just turn off the booster ASAP and you're golden. Awesome product. Nice review and (almost) exactly what we want to see.
Wow! Impressive! I actually already bought this because my car died (just moved back to cold country and forgot about this aspect-lol), and was looking for a “how to” video. After watching that, I happened to notice your video. I thought, well, if he proves it sucks, it’s not too late to return it. All I can say is that I now have zero buyer’s remorse. Thank you for doing a thorough review in awful conditions!
Excellent un-biased opinion & evaluation on this product, thank you! I bet it could have started at least two more cars! What really startled me is the severity of the cold weather you tested it in & that it performed so frickin' well! I will also look into there more powerful units as well.
@@Volkswear fingers crossed I am about to try & start a Renault Master using the GB50. We had no success with a lower unit (not Noco G40 as they had no stock), the battery just got flatter & now wont even try to turn over.
i'm a tow truck driver and this video is the reason i'm going to give it a try thank you for doing this video it was a grate demo of the gb40 thanks from Reyes Towing in Ft worth texas
I have a WeeGo which looks exactly like yours and I too have had similar results but the biggest test was at Disney we powered 4 phones all day and you know how many pictures and checking lines length etc you do and every phone ran at 100% ALL day!! I too am amazed at how long these things hold a charge! Great Video!!
Love the video We bought one and are getting ready to jump off a 77 pickup that's been sitting since 012 and a 88 ranger that's been sitting since 003 So I'm Very Impressed thank you For your Video it gives me hope
thank you so much. Knowing the air temp was really helpful too. I definitely bought this based on this video (and many other glowing recommendations online)
This is giving me hope. I have tongo back home to minus 50 temperature. Found out my 2016 van wont start. It started the day before. Wont start.now. I have the Jump booster at home never used it yet. This will be my first test of the product
I was thinking about buying one (do they even work?), so I watched this video and one or two others. And ended up buying one. And it started my car when I needed it a short while later. Thanks!
We use the larger version of this jump pack in our tow trucks. Way better than the giant 25 Lb ones we used to use. If one of these won't jump start a car or pickup, something else is wrong lol
I've had a couple different portable jump starters, but they all died after about 2 years. Maybe in a year or so you could do a follow up to this device.
danny mcelvain Thats not a bad idea. January 2019 will be 2 years. If you don't see a video remind me and I'll try and do another video then. I did use this same jump box yesterday to jump a car and it worked great. JC.
Noco products are awesome. I purchased this after great experience using the noco genius g3500 charger to tend my battery on my car thats driven once a week. I recently sold my house and downsized and had to put my car in a vehicle storage unit with no power outlet. Problem Solved!
I use the gb40 in my motorcycle. Now in the winter my lithium start battery doesnt like the cold and needs to warm up before having some proper boost. If I am in a hurry I hookup the gb40 and fubar it untill it starts frozen. It's also nice to be able to help someone else.
I watched this a few weeks back lookin for a portable jumper for my harley……these guys at noco should cut you in on some commission cuz you sold this for me not only does it bring my bike back to life but I’ve started taking it to work with me and as a tow truck driver I gotta sat this thing is a god sent
I've been using mine for the last week without a recharge and was wondering how many jumps it was good for. I'm impressed as well considering some of the crappy reviews I've seen on it.
+Volkswear That was the best jump pack video I've ever seen. You did a great job with both the video and audio! This was a real-world test in frigid temperatures and the NOCO was really impressive. Can you please tell me more about your jacket? I'd like one for myself.
Thank you for the demonstration. You convinced me, I will buy the Genius BG 40. I also want to say that those old Subarus starting after being sitting in the yard for so long and then easily starting, really IMPRESSED ME ! ! !
This is a great little jump box. Its my favorite for sure. The Subies are good little cars. They have their quirks but are good cars for the most part. JC.
I have been using a GB70 for over 4 years. I am afraid if it may be coming to its end of life because the lifespan of Lithium ION batteries is normally in the range of 4 years. It is still working. As a precaution I went all out and bought the GB150. It is a huge one. I like the idea of the built in volt meter. With my 4X4 SUV, I've run down the battery. I connect the GB70 and wait about 40 seconds or so, and then the engine starts. I was told these NOCO battery units can hold charge for about a year if not used. I like to top my unit up about every 2 to 3 months. Like any type of battery it is best to never let the unit fully discharge. This has to be one of the best series of jump starters on the market. In past years I've tried others, and nothing as portable matches the NOCO.

This is inspiring to watch someone be so confident around a variety of older vehicles in crummy condition. Gives me hope for myself and my old car! Thanks!
video is 6 years and still helping people. thanks dude
Now 7 years
The exclamation button you pressed is used when the battery is really dead. Its a manual override for the unit.
I wasn't surprised ! It works well ! As ryusou points out , the ( ! ) is for a really dead battery !
Exclamation point is used all the time in my tow truck. Works great, doesn't hurt the unit at all. It's the only jump pack we use in our trucks
My Kia Sportage has been sitting in the cold for a week I forgot to start it up so the battery is dead .I order this jump starter after watching this gives me hop
Impressive review, I used my GB40 once successfully on a V8 with a weak battery, when the unit was 2 year old, not charged. It’s well engineered.
Thanks getting one for my old tahoes and silverado
@@1980snafu Your Silverado a v6 or v8?
I charge it maybe every 4-6 weeks during the winter to keep it fully charged.
great review thanks
I have one that I bought over 2 years ago and It has saved me over 10 times and it still works great.
I own A NOCO GB40 myself and I'm very impressed with it. After watching this video I'm really glad i bought it know it can go to the extreme. Great video.
Alex Le how long can it hold a charge for?
I have gb70 couldn’t be happier only drawback not enough to start a diesels
@@michaellackie3756 yeah, it has, I just used mine yesterday to start a Toyota 2.2 diesel with a totally dead battery that didn't light the dash. Just leave it connected for 30 seconds or so before you crank. Sorry, gb70 also not a 40.
@@agalpalacio9157 even after 2 years it's still at 100%
There is no question ...it's very powerful & appropriate electronic device & my decision to have it was correct !!!
I have purchased six(6) of these GB40 units. They work excellent. I recommend this product to all my family and friends. 👍
Thank You Sir. JC.
Excellent real world test, and in the cold, too. I’ve been on the fence for quite a while but I’m really impressed.
Check out a video on the OZ-CHARGE RESCUE MATE it doesn't need charging doesn't have an internal battery it gets its charge from the dregs of the battery its hooked up to...Amazing technology.
Wow start # 3 was impressive .... I just ordered the GB70 but wow that BG40 has some balls!!
I have the GB70. It seems at least once a week I have to boost one of our work trucks. Works great
The real test would be to - store the charger in the car for a few days in the cold ( below freezing )and see if it jumps a battery . Since most people will store this in their car trunk.
That's a good idea. Your right.
Actually, it is a bad idea. LiPo cells don't like the cold. I don't think this thing is made of supercaps.
@@nezinomasbepavardis3315
You're right I never thought about that.
I agree with Shawn C. Great review, all around. Very likeable guy and right to the point in his presentation.
Highly recommend it.
ramblindoug I cant find gb 30 anywhere I thought pole were making gb30 up all I’m finding is gb20 gb 40 gb50 gb70 gb 150
Noco GB30 sucks
I just purchased the Noco battery pack yesterday , and your channel popped up. I feel positive about my choice , of course I researched first but I'm sold. Thanks for the tutorial.
Mine came out of the box at 25% and I was able to jump my Jeep.
I love this product.
A VIEW IS A VIEW wow 🤙🏽
You must have strong legs to be able to jump a jeep.
It will not jumpstart a diesel tho,but even large gasoline trucks with no problem!
@@АлександърИванов-щ8ю I'm curious if it'll jump start a 455 or caddy 500.
Wanted to see atleast one 350 jump..
I got this product I bought it few years ago. I only used it a few times and it never let me down. It a great product to keep in the car
We have had one for a year and it's never let us down. Amazing product.
I just purchased one of these myself. After having a niece stranded in Atlanta off I75 in heavy traffic, where jumper cables were useless, I vowed never again. After doing a lot of research, I chose the NOCO GB40. Excellent review. Thank You.
Thanks for watching. Good Luck with your GB40. JC.
this video made me buy one, and it's worth it's weight in gold pressed latinum, if you're thinking about getting one you will not regret it, people that i've help can't believe such a little thing is so powerful 1.5-V8s this thing kicks over with no strain
The UFP welcomes our Ferengi friend! Now, about your docking fee ...
But, I have to say that as impressive as the GB40 was - those
Subaru's starting after all that time was just as impressive to me.
I have the same make GB70 jump starter since 2015. It never failed me whenever I needed it in emergency in the bitter cold of Calgary.
I like how he tested on multiple cars to prove this devise works well. Nice job 👍🏽
I'm a believer after watching this video last night, I bought one today.
Wow!
Because of your review I'm ordering this now off Amazon. Thank you for taking time out in the freaking cold weather to demonstrate how this works.
ouch shouldve got yourself an audew jumper it is cheaper and far outperforms this pos.
This is the first video where I've rooted for the product. This thing saved me last week after I left my headlights on. Great review.
WAOOW! Thanks sooo much for this! The snow was a definite win, ah mean starting in the snow is thee worst condition
Works really well. Started a V8 Mustang 4 times and 3 times a Hummer H3. All in one charge. I recommend.
Excellent un-biased opinion & evaluation on this product, thank you! I bet it could have started at least two more cars! What really startled me is the severity of the cold weather you tested it in & that it performed so frickin' well! I will also look into there more powerful units as well.
Thank You. Glad you enjoyed the video. JC.
Thanks for the very cold-honest review. I just bought one thanks to you!
Thanks for the review but on their website it says it can jump up to 20. Should put up to 10
That's dedication. In the snow! thank you.
Thanks for this review. I was looking for something that showed its functionality in cold weather. I really appreciate no frills review. Thanks again
thank you so much.
You da man for going through all that just for us. Appreciate it. I'm a believer.
Thank You Sir. Glad you enjoyed it. JC.
I agree. He's the man for sure! i'm so happy with this video and this product!!
I was thinking about buying one (do they even work?), so I watched this video and one or two others. And ended up buying one. And it started my car when I needed it a short while later. Thanks!
THIS nice demo right here convinced me to make up my mind FINALLy on which one to get. Thanks!
Thinking of getting one of these. Cant get a better demo than that.Well done
Best review ever. This is how products should be tested. I just ordered mine now.
We use the larger version of this jump pack in our tow trucks. Way better than the giant 25 Lb ones we used to use. If one of these won't jump start a car or pickup, something else is wrong lol
I received a NOCO GB40 from mail ordering yesterday before watching this review. Now I feel great for purchasing it.
It's awesome, impressive. Good product as well as excellent presentation. You could become fantastic salesperson too.
What a great review! ive just spent £100 on one of these, and now my mind is happy, thankfulness and good kama to you. xxx
JC.
Volkswear how about that 2 year follow up video. I’m currently looking for a portable jump starter. Thanks!!
Angelo Martinez I'll get on it next week sometime. JC.
Jason L.E just got one yesterday, then this popped up.
Let's do a review on the same unit after two years
Best review!!! I've got GB30 for 6-7 years. Stiil working...
I'm glad that I found your video. Pretty great results. Btw, is it just me or does that Isuzu have a VW emblem on it's grill?
Noco products are awesome. I purchased this after great experience using the noco genius g3500 charger to tend my battery on my car thats driven once a week. I recently sold my house and downsized and had to put my car in a vehicle storage unit with no power outlet. Problem Solved!
25% of 7000 Joules = 1750 Joules. Impressed with the marketing guy who put that on the box (big numbers sell better).
I use the gb40 in my motorcycle. Now in the winter my lithium start battery doesnt like the cold and needs to warm up before having some proper boost. If I am in a hurry I hookup the gb40 and fubar it untill it starts frozen. It's also nice to be able to help someone else.
Just saw Project Farm test this same unit. The Audew blew it away.
seen the video. Audew ftw
@KelMaster Construction Well you saw this video. So what do you think was the problem with the GB40 from the other test?
He never pressed the "boost" button on the NOCO (exclamation mark on the front panel).

I've been using mine for the last week without a recharge and was wondering how many jumps it was good for. I'm impressed as well considering some of the crappy reviews I've seen on it.
Not expecting a size of mobile charger do such a good job. Thanks for the review.

Impressive! My 🚗 was totally dead. Pressed the boost button, started right up! I love this device!🌿
