Man, this is the format that I started playing competitive yugioh in, and even though I got my teeth kicked in, it was a blast playing dark world and just losing to DAD in awe when it appeared. Ironically I started playing magic competitively during Caw-Blade, so I guess I just have a thing for tier 0 formats.
Why does Ash need to be banned again? Also, Halq is actually not used as much as it has been. Mine 100% needs to be banned. But Ash has no place on the banlist.
In order: Banning Ash Blossom helps Tier 1 decks wayyyyy more than rogue, which is really not what you want. A way to hit consistency and encourage player interaction in the hyper fast turn 1 environment that Yugioh has become is not something that should really be villainized, no matter how frustrating it might be to have a turn ruined by it. Halq is a monster of a card and the only one I would agree deserves banning for being too good. The fact that they banned seemingly every decent Tuner instead frustrates and baffles me. Mystic Mine, despite reading like a poorly thought out custom card and causing degenerate garbage to see play, has never seen enough wide scale tournament level success to be bannable. Largely because unlike most casual play, competitive yugioh take on the Match format and often cards sided to deal with specific meta threats also conveniently wreck Mine. I would ban it anyway on the grounds that even in the ideal scenario the cards intended function is cancerous, but I get why it's never been hit before, outside blanket strikes against all field spells.
@@orochimochi905 The main argument for Mine is almost the same as for the DAD format. It's very much not fun. No amount of objective analysis can defy that, no matter how many decks play it or not. Just because there is an out to a card doesn't mean it's a good idea to keep it in the game.
An important trap card came out to me in the structure deck. Iron wall. Once when I played it. My opponent told me that I killed his deck due to having no outs. It was a dark remove from play deck.
I’m guessing if you weren’t playing DAD you had a control deck with Kycoo right? That would be a good way to get rid of monsters from the opponents graveyard.
Should have pitched the Mali when you Brained the Grepher before sacking off for for LADD. Could have even kept your reaper too if you wanted to use the second mali to sack for LADD.

The amount of resignation on both of their faces on the wheel screens says it all. This format is actually probably the main reason I never got *into* Yu-Gi-Oh in the first place and just stuck with MtG (which I had been playing for years). I had a bunch of friends who played both games around this time and literally all of them told me to avoid learning Yu-Gi-Oh bc it was so miserable, and that sentiment stuck with me for enough years until it was at a point where I wasn't interested in learning a new paper card game any more (and by learning I don't mean learning to play the game, I mean learning to play it competitively).
Crushcard only lasts for 3 turns and activateing it in your opponents turn is turn 1 so only 2 draw phases more (and ofc all cards drawn from other sources such as d-draw)
When I was a kid my grandpa bought me a discounted phantom darkness pack and I actually pulled a first edition dad and I also pulled a first edition jd from a light of destruction booster box. @@CD-zi6rb from urban dictionary: English word that means to hook up with someone or make out with them, often at a party or nightclub. Tongues are often involved. You can also be 'on the pull', which means to seek out or pursue someone with whom you want to get off with (often a complete stranger).

The Brits really on another level
Man, this is the format that I started playing competitive yugioh in, and even though I got my teeth kicked in, it was a blast playing dark world and just losing to DAD in awe when it appeared. Ironically I started playing magic competitively during Caw-Blade, so I guess I just have a thing for tier 0 formats.
0:52 Don't worry, we have plenty more cards that constantly escape the banlist:
Ash Blossom
Crystron Needlefibre
Mystic Mine
Why does Ash need to be banned again? Also, Halq is actually not used as much as it has been. Mine 100% needs to be banned. But Ash has no place on the banlist.
Ash Blossom doesn’t need to be banned lol
In order:
Banning Ash Blossom helps Tier 1 decks wayyyyy more than rogue, which is really not what you want.
Dude ash blossom helps rogue heck no. needlefibre yes. Mystic mine Ban it for only meta decks yes.
@@orochimochi905 The main argument for Mine is almost the same as for the DAD format. It's very much not fun. No amount of objective analysis can defy that, no matter how many decks play it or not.
Just because there is an out to a card doesn't mean it's a good idea to keep it in the game.
Turns out the real patriarch of the DAD deck is DMOC.
When a guy is bothering a girl too much: I summon DaD in attack mode!
Why stop there? Bring forth the doom!
Wow, that Cyber Valley play was really big brain for whoever first realized it.
That Nuclear Waste Site warning is perfect.
proxies on the playground was how i kept having fun with yugioh.
This episode was probably punishment for Cimo's ridiculous topdecks in Progression and History
32:32 HOLY SHIT I got a fucking heart attack, lmao my PC has been a little shaky lately thought is straight up DIED
The bit about Malicious is very funny in April 2024, considering he left his home in the semi-limit list for the first time in ages.
46:55 Gotta love reading the top line of card text
Imagine my surprise when I learned that the Dark Armed Dragon I owned at the time of this format, which I was too young to actually play in and was just collectong cards, was like $300 and was the main focus of a tier 0 deck
Cimo spins dad return. Plays LDad with dad control sided. Pick a deck
“It’s a very dark time for Yugioh history” I wonder if we can say this for our current format as well😅
Nah. If anything it’s way to bright XD (drytron)
That Cyber Valley-LADD interaction is hilarious. Cyber Dragons: Great From the Beginning
15:33 "I think you're going to see some *dad* *droppings* in this episode." is what I heard
Anyone else notice how just done with all of this Cimo is
These games just reminds me of my dad and how I never seen him and he never made an impact in my life.
The amount of resignation on both of their faces on the wheel screens says it all.
This format is actually probably the main reason I never got *into* Yu-Gi-Oh in the first place and just stuck with MtG (which I had been playing for years). I had a bunch of friends who played both games around this time and literally all of them told me to avoid learning Yu-Gi-Oh bc it was so miserable, and that sentiment stuck with me for enough years until it was at a point where I wasn't interested in learning a new paper card game any more (and by learning I don't mean learning to play the game, I mean learning to play it competitively).
cimoooo not pitching the mali with mbt's grepher hurt my soul
The best part of this is Cimo choosing paper during rps
Crushcard only lasts for 3 turns and activateing it in your opponents turn is turn 1 so only 2 draw phases more (and ofc all cards drawn from other sources such as d-draw)
I love MBT's opening. It's amazing.
I absolutely ADORE Joseph's sleeves for today!!
When I was a kid my grandpa bought me a discounted phantom darkness pack and I actually pulled a first edition dad and I also pulled a first edition jd from a light of destruction booster box. I still own the cards and the booster pack they were in, I will never forget the excitement of unboxing them
13:45 "People started siding Royal Decree, so we're only playing 1 Return from the Different Dimension"
Meanwhile Cimo at the start: "Return from the different dimension is now limited to 1."
I got all the Yu-Gi-Oh cards boyyyyy
This video needs to get added to the playlist. I just noticed its not there.
