Dragoon is competitive and neither Dark Magician nor Red-Eyes where.
And there are hundreds of other decks that were never even close to be rogue and still had one or two cards being competitive trough the game's history.

This series only gets better as time progresses. You two have really excellent on-camera chemistry and you're both really good at this game, making basically every episode super enjoyable. Even the brickfest game 3 here was entertaining as shit because of your guys' charisma

@@potatoexe5410 Eh, one of the easiest ways to summon Gyzarus was to use Prima and/or Darius, neither of which would allow you to use the effect of Bestiari before summoning Gyzarus
@@dougiefresh2525 Yeah, you just Prisma, pitch Bestiari, then tag out into Darius, bring back Bestiari and contact fusion. Or Prisma > Test Tiger into Darius and do the same. Actually summoning Bestiari was too slow most of the time.

Its really interesting to see how good Jinzo still is at this point in Yugioh. Battle Traps and such were really popular and Jinzo deals with them so neatly.
Taking Solemn offline is actually so big as Special Summoning impact monsters becomes more and more mainstream
If traps are a part of a deck jinzo kinda just beats it, and considering how long traps are around, jinzo will be side decked at least for awhile.
Its also interesting how this works against modern yugioh since while traps are less common they are usually a decks big card (such as tri brigade revolt most floodgates snd most of allergist) and this van just shut them down. Kinda wish i daw this card more
@@michael_betts Yeah, pretty much until Denko Sekka comes out, Jinzo will stick around at least in the side deck.

Traps are the strongest they have been in 5 since Z00 format and depending on the matchup, he just sits on the opponent.
Eldlitch, Amazment, Salamangreat and other do run a healthy amount of them.

and Cimoooo loses when he tries to out-jank MBT

@@kennyli4319 I'd say it's more DM staples. How many times has Cimo blown out Gage with imperial order, heavy storm, raigeki? And they both have painful choice and magical scientist which have just been win buttons by themselves whenever they resolve throughout the whole series.

at 30:00 alex uses solemn on D.D.R. to prevent disk commander giving Joseph 2 cards. correct me if im wrong but the original pre errata disk commander still required to be special summoned from the graveyard, not the banish zone. so alex misplayed

That was around? What were the ratios for deck wins compared to irl? I find it extremely difficult to fathom that a bricky deck like Return DAD with basicallyy one non-searchable win condition could consistently win in an online format that truly randomizes shuffling.
So Cimo doesn't play Somen Judgment when he needs too, while the other dude always plays it too early. Then Cimo played Smashing Ground too early this game. I get it though, if youmess up playing a card two late in oneduel, in the next duel you might act a little irrationally, bujt honestly with an all monsterhand, why Smashing Ground that early, provided you're not rattled about the previous Duel's results?
Who's gonna tell them that Disc Commander wasn't going to trigger off of D.D.R.?

@@DeviousHands so, after using two cards in hand for the DDR, he'd also need to have a single tribute, plus some sort of grave recursion? That's a strong bet. Also, Cimo said that allowing him to draw two was too strong.

Shadow Imprisoning Mirror is also an anti-Gyzarus tech. Turns off the pop & the defusion, also is normally summoned without getting Bestiari first.
Skyscraper 2 can be activated even though the monster destroyed in battle is in the GY before the field spell is on the field. Because it only requires a E Hero destroyed by battle.
Yeah it works a bit like Last Will does where it's not activated in response but has a longer/infinite window.
Joseph on the Vitali card sleeves is a pretty deep cut to the Progression Playoffs. Nice.
by the end of this year the sleeve jokes will be incomprehensible to the average duelist

Lightsworns are my favorite archetype, its so fun to win turn 2 with like 5 cards left in your deck. :)

Damn was hoping to see Jinzo Returner DAD, or Machine dad as its called on here. It was a really intuitive and fringe deck of that format, using future fusion to dump jinzos and jinzo returners to otk the opponent and set up a free dark armed, it also ran cards like overload fusion an return from the DD as other game ending haymakers.

A note about Shadow Imprisoning Mirror: it does stop Gyzarus' effect. Too bad Bestiari can still pop it, but it's something.
Bestiari was never the go to. More often than not, you'd summon Gyzarus with Prisma and skip Bestiari, since Bes was often too slow.
Cimo should've been playing captain gold and skyscraper.

This is the first time I'm seeing Big City in action. I heard of the deck back in the day. And I'm glad to see a elemental hero deck that's viable without fusions
I agree with Joseph-this series hasn't made dad look like a good deck. The titular monster is incredibly powerful, but the whole package? Looks inconsistent, bricky, and kinda gutless unless you draw DAD.
That's because they can't play good decks for the sake of it and the deckslists aren't good. Check out Lithium's Cross-Banlist cup if you want to know how good DAD Return really is. He is not just really skillful with that deck but even beats decks from later formats with it

@@pandaman1331 Theres not much MBT can do if he bricks and has a floodgate that shuts down his entire deck, in Lithiums case, he spends his time to look for the strongest variant and will ask if people want different
But all the decks used in Lithium's banlist cup and peope have objected in the past, hence why he says in his initial lineups that they arent set in stone etc
The point is to show the past and that includes the deckbuilding habits of the time

@@lilsunny7399 Well, I think it was because of how their policy changed over time. Archfiend was super early in YGO, so back then they decided that they'd keep the name but have the little text at the bottom. I think it most likely changed when Red Eyes Black Chick or Frog the Jam finally got their names changed, when Konami decided "Instead of cluttering up effect text with all this nonsense let's just actually change the names of these cards."

After a week of binging I’m finally caught up on this series. What a wild ride. It’s been amazing.
I'm really liking the idea of exploring the meta from start to finish. Excellent idea and good execution. MBT is great for this
Although I am really looking foward to finally enter the extra deck era, especially the Synchro era since it's still my all time favorite extra deck mechanic, I think it's correct to give us another episode of this format. As we continue we will get more and more archetypes and formats wit ha lot of valid decks, so I think two episodes per format should become the standard to not miss out on anything. I am a little bit sad that we didn't get to see Lightsworn though but it's not like we won't get to see them in abundance later on anyway.
It's the same with Gladiator Beasts; they released two sets ago but didn't truly hit their stride until they got Gyzarus in this set. It'll be the same with Lightsworn; it will get it's time in the sun, for sure.

This is the format in which I first started playing competitively. Wanted to run Dark Armed Return, but just could not really afford it, so I ran Glad Beasts instead.
Gyzarus is actually a dark monster, so for Cimo shadow imprisoning mirror is like one of the best traps he could have main decked there lol.

That's a pity. I played Big City in a DS game and it was so much fun.
what can I say, I am a HERO player and seeing cimo not knowing what is he doing aches my heart =( he doesnt deserve to play with my HEROs ..
What's really interesting about Big City specifically is that it's a ''Hero'' strategy, but because the Omniheroes (specifically Absolute Zero) don't start coming out until early 2010, you have this deck that's full of Heroes but doesn't run any fusions.
And then Absolute Zero comes out, and the Absolute Zero... Turbo, essentially, deck gains traction at this weird time in the meta and so it runs Deep Sea Divas, Penguin Soldiers, Evil Hero Infernal Prodigy and DaD in the same list and it's... so strange.
Calling it now.
Even when playing Pepe MBT will somehow manage to brick.

I'm gonna be honest, I'm surprised that D.D. Assailant wasn't part of the Big City build. I mean at this point in history it was functionallly the same as D.D. Warrior Lady just with more ATK. Also it could've benefitted greatly from Terraforming given the Skyscraper's and I could've even seen a regular Skyscraper or two in the Side-Deck as it would add some power to the E-Hero's. Also nice to finally see DAD appear in a functional manner. I'm super excited to see Glad Beast next episode as I always found that to be an interesting deck. I absolutely love this series :)

@@robinschierholz2264 Evilswarm won a single tournament during Rulers format. It was kind of the third wheel in a format of nothing but Spellbooks and Dragon Rulers. But it was the only deck that could hope to compete with them because of Ophion. It basically was like Spellbooks, prevent the
Rulers from coming out then you can win. Otherwise the lost

They could techincally play around two interruptions but board wipes would kill them So basically one Evenly Matched or one Nibiru and you pretty much lost. Because it didn't really have any sort of negates besides Apollousa. It still is a great deck and a lot of fun to play

If cimoooo had 8000 on that snipe hunter solemn, I would’ve understood his hesitation. But a 800LP summon negation is a no brainer.
By far the best series out of the 3 imo. And Joseph is the best guest on the channel. Would love to see you two make another series together after the history of yugioh is over.

I remember someone offering me a fully blinged-out Counter Fairy deck for my Dark Armed Dragon, the value was about equivalent, I declined, following day Counter Fairies topped the SJC. Wild format. I played Lightsworn and GB that format, Gyzarus was just such a huge drop for that set.
I still have my 2008 Judgment Dragon regional mat that I've used since winning that regional.

My top 8 regs Counter Light deck owned this meta. I believe my deck is what made Royal Oppression start seeing lots of play and eventually banned. It was the easy mvp of my deck followed by honest.

Perhaps you can organize to split the pool 3 picks from each or something so that decks that only lived for a bit like counter Fairy can see play. The loss of the side deck is somewhat tragic but gaining the other decks would be worth it to me.
