I think politics should be approached in more of a scientific way. Too many people are too certain that their own political hypotheses are correct. Whereas I feel a great deal of uncertainty. The human brain cannot possibly comprehend on its own all the different variables at play. At the moment politics seems to be about arguing which hypothesis is correct in a logical and philosophical way - but ultimately what sets apart the scientific method from these disciplines is admitting humans actually arent very good at coming up with hypotheses - a scientist will treat a well argued hypothesis with equal skepticism until positive results are obtained - even the most apparently logically sound. Progress is made when a hypothesis yields negative results - it gives us a clue about the flaw in our reasoning and thus new knowledge is attained. Instead of emotionally attaching yourself to a policy outcome, you should admit that it is indeed just a hypothesis and go into it with curiosity - equal curiosity should be given to failed policies as these also provide useful information. Whenever a new policy is implemented this should be accompanied by a chosen set of metrics which will decide whether this was a failure or not. This will be raw data so no argument to be had if it failed.
