There are plenty of young and healthy people claiming benefits because they made a whole football team of kids and are sitting at home whilst the kids are in school all day. Many are claiming PIP because of being obese. These people need to get a job, not the long term sick with serious conditions.
@@tonmisty I am lucky because I am a college and university lecturer, they insist on employing supposed minorities (Disabled people are not a minority but we are included in them) However, I know what it's like for my children, one is autistic and one has severely poor mental health due to childhood trauma from her other parent (her words). Tbh he did say the sick not disabled. I know someone on the sick and she's making herself sick through drinking. The more money she gets the more she spends on drink and now has fits daily. Alcoholics are the only category I don't think should have that extra even if they are sick if its caused by alcohol consumption.
nobody is gonna hire sick people not unless they are being paid to hire them....and paid for keeping them.... not happening....won't work out......will all backfire...on government
I worked as a Nurse for much of my life. I became seriously ill in 2018 (48). The anger i still have because i cant do any work because im so immuno suppressed...on oxygen and unable to wash and dress without oxygen and im being targeted by this c*$t!? wow....just.......wow
Sick people don't pretend to be sick, they pretend to be well, then it all goes haywire when we can't function properly. Not to mention that people get really angry when we slow them down
In order for sick and disabled People to work there needs to be employers willing and able to hire and pay them. They never talk about that side of the equation
@arash4712 don't blame starmer! Rishi had same idea by telling doctors stop with the nonsensical sick notes. Why. Becuaer both parties know it's a problem & needs addressing
What’s hard cases?.. if you’re dying?. Does he know someone’s personal health circumstances?. Some people are genuinely not fit for work. Starmer just wants to punish people for claiming benefits. And I don’t know what he’s thinking, because most employers don’t want to hire people with a long time sickness.
Will an employer understand if I start work on day one, get sick on day 6, and need to be off work for 3 weeks while I recover from my neurological disease's latest issues? Then do it all again
That’s what I said exactly same it’s going to backfire, I can’t go out and commute day after to day for miles without doing a days work on top I can’t my health’s bad that’s why I’m on limited to work benefit can’t work so they can threaten all they like from my perspective it’s not happening and they can threaten all they like my health can be to the point where I’m bedridden for days I could work but there’ll. be days where I can’t make it to work so it will backfire
This is a deeper problem with employers, they all say they are open to people with disabilities, they wave the flag for being equal opportunities but when the reality hits and a person can't work they won't support them at all. They will throw you out of the job, this then looks worse on the disabled persons cv because they are painted as being the person at fault when it's the company and their lack of understanding and support which is the issue and inflexibility on their part. Which then ofc leads us to the deeper problem of capitalism...

I had to wait a few days for surgery then was told to take plenty of recovery time but my sick pay ran out ( due to the long wait before the MI) and I was forced to claim ESA as I dropped to half pay. They refused me saying I was fit for work while my cardiac consultant said I wasn’t. I had to go back. I was unwell frequently due to medication issues and not being fully recovered so they sacked me for high absenteeism. They tried to push me out earlier by saying I was poor at my job even though I had been doing it without any issues for over ten years. I found a new job but during Covid I got cancer. I couldn’t go through that again so my husband told me to quit and he worked extra hours. While undergoing treatment I have studied for a BA and graduate next June. I’ve never been able to work, due to my health conditions. Getting “back” to work wouldn’t even be accurate phrasing for my situation. It’s like they’re trying to pretend those like me simply don’t exist.
Pretty much the same. I've only ever been able to get low pay, no pay, zero hours contracts or volunteering jobs that promised a job that was never real to begin with. Even employers or charities that are very "disabled friendly" aren't in reality when it comes to paying disabled employees what we're worth. They constantly cry to you, the unemployed disabled person, about how there's "just no money" to employ you, and they say this to you with no hint of irony while getting into a very expensive car to drive back to the home they own.
@@gordonwilkinson5041 The problem with this take is that the government don't care about the difference between the supposed "genuine" and the "fakers". They treat us all like we're the "fakers". Some years back a woman was fined for wrongly claiming a benefit. In court it turned out that if she had known about, and claimed, the correct benefit, she was actually entitled to MORE than she had been claiming, but that didn't stop her being fined for claiming the wrong one, and they wouldn't back-date her claim for the correct benefit.
One of the things that gets consistently overlooked in these discussions is how the great majority of those out of work have been paying taxes and national insurance for years, often decades. They have paid in far more than they've ever received and then get demonised for claiming benefits. It's disgraceful. It would be like paying into an insurance policy for decades and being demonised if you have to make a claim.
Why is it that the only value an individual has is as an economic unit of production? Is it not possible that one can "contribute to society" in other ways, apart from being an employee? Another question - if so many people cannot work because they are ill, why not tackle the causes of illness?

I thought slavery in Britain was abolished 1834 . Clearly under Labour we can back time. When will Starmer expect pre-school children to go up chimneys
@@f56yn25 No, it was only in 2010 that owning slaves was made illegal here. Buying or selling humans here was forbidden in 1834. The definition of slavery remains quite narrow. Where are all these jobs for people coming from ? Are employers willing to employ a lot of people with challenges?
Nope. They never talk about that.
It's a scam policy that kills two birds with one stone for the ruling class: frees up previously guaranteed state benefits for policies that benefit them more directly, and takes away autonomy of those with no power to push back through punitive means testing, forcing even more people to desperately compete with each other for a shrinking number of job vacancies, putting further downward pressure on wages (more desperate people are willing to take lower pay). It also breaks morale, and a sense of hopelessness means weakened political organisation. It's class war in slow motion.
@detritiv0re144 you're absolutely right , maybe some one will ask the minister concerned.
I am disabled and I can work part-time because I can. If Starmer takes away my PIP, it will cost him far more in these "vouchers" to get me to and from work because I work in very remote areas. He will have to provide taxis both ways, which will costs so much more than the PIP. If one of his family was in this position, he would not be stopping their support.
Starmer creating public mistrust and hate. He knows exactly what he's doing.
He's destroying the UK for his bosses in Washington.
so if you’re too sick to work you need to look for work even though you can’t work? it’s literally nonsense.
It's ridiculous! I was made to go for an assessment...two weeks after major back surgery. They wouldn't acceot letters from my consultant etc. Said if I didn't go my benefit would be stopped. Mum took me in my pjs and wheelchair...assessor said oh you shouldn't be here!-couldn't make it up!
Nothing changes. Back in 1976 I was pregnant and suffering from hyperemesis. I could only ride 2-3 stops on the bus before getting off to throw up. I had to attend an assessment, a 40 minute bus ride away, and strip naked in front of the doctor to 'prove' I was pregnant.
Don't worry, there's no jobs out there anyway
Why are the immigrants just left alone - yet citizens are getting sought after now.

Unfortunately, there are no jobs, not even low paid ones, that take into consideration that a person may not be able to always, through no fault of their own, get into work on time or work very fast when you do...
That's where working from home comes in. Because we all know there are endless opportunities to work 100% remote, on a liveable wage, and disability is obviously only a problem if you have to go outside 😋

They constantly cry to you, the unemployed disabled person, about how there's "just no money" to employ you, and they say this to you with no hint of irony while getting into a very expensive car to drive back to the home they own.
you might be genuine but I know people that are capable of working but would rather live off the money taxpayers earn and pay
@@gordonwilkinson5041 The problem with this take is that the government don't care about the difference between the supposed "genuine" and the "fakers". They treat us all like we're the "fakers". @@gordonwilkinson5041 cool story bro. Benefits fraud rate is about 0.5%. At a certain point, trying to catch out the few remaining fraudsters results in more genuine claims being dismissed (which costs the taxpayer a lot in appeals tribunals and the like) than dodgy claims being caught.

Why should long term sick look for work when starmer is filling the country with military aged men and he is giving them everything for free,,

How much does benefit cost the country compared with say tax avoidance? Should any questions put to the government on benefits include a reference to other spending areas?
Correct me if I'm wrong but they have also pledged to clamp down on tax avoidance aswell... And the cost of benefit fraud is around £10bn.
Small in comparison to unclaimed benefits people are entitled to I’m sure. My colleague was unaware of the single person council tax discount, living in the same borough for 20 years, the council just arbitrarily said they wouldn’t backdate refunds
A fair point.
Boots gives you a lecture about possible addiction when you try to buy a packet of painkillers (cuz you can't see the GP any time soon), ask your life history and act like you just asked for an ounce of pure. And they don't pay their taxes
@@Sam.o.29 But WHICH benefits are being defrauded? Is it sickness benefits, or in work benefits? How many in work are claiming for more dependants than they actually have? Some years back a woman was fined for wrongly claiming a benefit. In court it turned out that if she had known about, and claimed, the correct benefit, she was actually entitled to MORE than she had been claiming, but that didn't stop her being fined for claiming the wrong one, and they wouldn't back-date her claim for the correct benefit.
No employer/company will even consider employing a sick person. Too much of a headache for them financially and legally.
He’s got no empathy
One of the things that gets consistently overlooked in these discussions is how the great majority of those out of work have been paying taxes and national insurance for years, often decades. They have paid in far more than they've ever received and then get demonised for claiming benefits. It's disgraceful. It would be like paying into an insurance policy for decades and being demonised if you have to make a claim.
someone gotta pay for the boat people
Why is it that the only value an individual has is as an economic unit of production? Is it not possible that one can "contribute to society" in other ways, apart from being an employee? And if someone cannot be an employee, does that mean they are irrelevant, that they don't matter, that they are disposable? Another question - if so many people cannot work because they are ill, why not tackle the causes of illness?
Starmer thinks humans are just disposable drones working to pay for his freebies.
Exactly!
Well said.

Precisely and what be financially worse off for it. They are cracking down on the benefits because they keep dishing them out for ptsd, depression for refugees. That's all it is. They're completely causing the problem then taking the benefit away from everyone as a whole.
