More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Aretha, Shirley Bassey, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 10,000+ attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly". This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace. The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself. The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (the band Renaissance, Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance). Lara Fabián does not deserve to be contrasted with Céline Dion or anyone. Her voice is incomparable. A Belgian woman, with a surprising cultural level and with a voice with so much color and such an extraordinary range, she made evident her quality as a vocalist with her particular adaptation of Albinoni's Adaggio. This song date’s back to “1685” it was an instrumental piece that had been rewritten, mostly in different keys. Lara was asked to write words to the song & said No a number of times but eventually said yes & you just listened to the final product. She wrote the Lyrics in English & Italian. She now sings in 13 languages & speaks in 7 or 8 languages. She is truly an International Star. ⭐️ The French speaking likely carries over both Celine Dion & Lara Fabian. laraa my queeen :) Lara is a diva. This recording is from 24 years ago, and the American music industry lost a lot because of what they did to her at that time. She is 54 years old now, but Lara's voice is still as fresh. I listened to it at a live concert in Istanbul 3 months ago and it still has the same great sound. She doesn't just sing, she writes, composes and makes the song come alive while singing. That's why I think Celine is a much superior artist than Dion.

One reason you may not know her is what the internet describes as a near feud between her and the artist you compared her too a lot in this review. In 1988, that artist won the Eurovision talent show and Lara finished 4th. (What happened to second and third?) In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 10,000+ attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
• she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total
• she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for 200+ songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music, and is at the source of the melodic line.
• she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
• she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens.
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, her father is flemish and grand mother on father side is dutch, but she also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( the father of her mother is from Detroit). She had been raised in Sicilia first for 7 years then in Belgium so she speaks both italian and french as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory.
She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She only moved away from opera to pop because she is first and foremost a songwriter.
After her Eurovision participation in 1988 (4th), she really started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada.
She had been living for years in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship. She moved to Sicilia end of 2022.
She became very famous in Quebec in the early 90s with several double platine records and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).

Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace.
The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.
The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (the band Renaissance, Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance).
But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version:
it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in italian then co-wrote the english lyrics for it and is the original performer of these 2 versions.

Lara Fabián does not deserve to be contrasted with Céline Dion or anyone. Her voice is incomparable. A Belgian woman, with a surprising cultural level and with a voice with so much color and such an extraordinary range, she made evident her quality as a vocalist with her particular adaptation of Albinoni's Adaggio. In Spain she is well known and admired.

This song date’s back to “1685” it was an instrumental piece that had been rewritten, mostly in different keys. Lara was asked to write words to the song & said No a number of times but eventually said yes & you just listened to the final product. She wrote the Lyrics in English & Italian. She now sings in 13 languages & speaks in 7 or 8 languages. She is truly an International Star. ⭐️ The French speaking likely carries over both Celine Dion & Lara Fabian. laraa my queeen :) Lara is a diva. This recording is from 24 years ago, and the American music industry lost a lot because of what they did to her at that time. She is 54 years old now, but Lara's voice is still as fresh. I listened to it at a live concert in Istanbul 3 months ago and it still has the same great sound.
She doesn't just sing, she writes, composes and makes the song come alive while singing. That's why I think Celine is a much superior artist than Dion.

One reason you may not know her is what the internet describes as a near feud between her and the artist you compared her too a lot in this review. In 1988, that artist won the Eurovision talent show and Lara finished 4th. (What happened to second and third?) They are so similar that the artists people may have conspired with big vinyl to deny Lara's access to certain markets. This special, from Lara with Love is on TH-cam. Yes, I don't understand this mania of comparing this with that, and in particular Fabian with Dion. The voices have nothing to do with each other. Dion's quality is much more "superior", as nasal. And the interpretative capacity has nothing to do with it. And I love the two....
They’re both amazing. Not my intention to compare the two like one is better than the other, just in my ears some vocals sounded close to what l remember Celine Dion singing, it was more like a compliment in my head 😅
