This is actually a love song to the powers that be that inspire her songwriting, and begging them to not abandon her. She calls herself "a songwriter with a voice", songwriting is that important to her. Listen again with that in mind, you will hear a deeper love song than you think it is at first.

This song is from Lara's 1999 English language debut. It was during the Y2K era I first heard of her music through a series of major, lavish, showcases on PBS television stations. Since then, Lara has released more albums in both French and English. I recommend some of Lara's other singles including "The Last Goodbye", "Growing Wings", "Le Jour Ou Te Partiras", "La Difference", "La Lettre", "Caruso", and "Je Suis a Tois."

This was a long time ago, her technique is outstanding even having to deal with reflux issues, that can hurt her beautiful voice, and better not talk about her acting an interpretation... Goes out of scale. The italian version in my opinion is even bigger, round, full of meaning, and her voice... F***** phenomenal. Some others have asked you to react to Caruso, her version is... Gosh, it's my favourite version ever (no disrespect to Pavarotti and the rest of the legends that have sung it) It's cool that you bring back old masterpieces... It gives me 2000 vibes and this decade was amazing. Good reaction!!

hi 9:00 Lara's mother is Italian and adagio in Italian means slowly or sofly, not only for music.
"All of these nights without you
All of my dreams surround you
I see and I touch your face
    I fall into your embrace
When the time is right I know
    You'll be in my arms
    (Adagio) sofly"

Since 1998 i've seen her at least a dozen times in concert. She never let me down. But her french output is far superior and her being half italian brings a depth and emotion to her singing..... The technically best vocalist by far and i love her lower ranges. So rich and velvet and yet she can belt out high. For me the "rounder" vocalist than others. This video is some 20 years old. She just turned 50 but still going strong. But this video is from her best live performances. The brilliant numbers are uncountable: Caruso, Perdere l'amore, Je suis malade, I Will Love Again and many many more....

Lara Fabian is an amazing singer but under rated due to the fact that Celine Dion is Quebecs Queen and they both came from the same province. She came after Celine and ofcourse the media was always comparing her to Celine throughout her earlier career. But she gained her own ground and the respect of her fans. I fell in love with this song and if you ever have the chance to listen to her self titled album which this song came from she will envoke so many emotions. Great singer excellent vlog...yes please do more Lara Fabian and please also look into reacting to Heather Headley "I wish" and "The Prayer" with Andre Boucelli". Nuff luv❤💙💚💛💜

I love the B4 and then chained to the C ~ # 5 with a huge support, super solid I love how she holds the C # 5 with vibrato .... bravo madam fabian .. here yes I recognize, you are spectacular

I love your reactions and your comments. Please comment her song "Je suis malade" from the same concert. Lara is the type of singer that makes you feel like you never truly understood a song until you saw her perform and embody it. She uncovers layers of emotions and reveals them to you. I was so fortunate to see her in concert once many years ago. She was much younger. Already so powerful and emotive. I remember she sang "Perdere l'amore" fairly early into the concert and got a standing ovation that lasted a good 5 minutes. :)

Her recording of it is splendid; so is the cover by Josh Groban which is rather more well-known..."Adagio" was covered by The Canadian Tenors, and that version is beautiful too. Nice to see someone reacting to Lara. Your taste and mine keep aligning, Dereck...

She's a Belgian but has live to Canada. She sings in many languages. She's been all over the world. You should listen to her performance in Paris where the audiences/her fans almost took over. She was reduced to tears and emotional. She joined in when she could. Please check her on TH-cam. And google, too.

Lol....at 4:10, you're saying.."this is what you call a quiet ballad!" I was laughing because you haven't heard the whole song yet. I was thinking to myself that you were in for a treat. Most of her stuff starts quiet and crescendo's up into whirlwind of emotion power and force that just knocks you on your ass! She's one of the few artists out there that I believe sounds better live than in her studio versions. It's like she feeds off of the audience! Nice reaction though, would like to see more reactions of Lara Fabian. My suggestion with her is to listen to the performance in its entirety, get pulled into the story and the emotional journey she puts us through then go back to discuss. Her music you just cant interrupt, it has to be heard through to get the full impact!I'm glad she's getting the recognition she deserves. Kind of sucks people are rediscovering her because of another artist. She's huge in Europe but seems to be bypassed in the states though she did do some stuff here. I wonder if they gave her the Titanic song instead of Celine what would've happened

I'm actually ecstatic that she is being discovered due to the frenzy around Dimash, who I have to admit is not my cup of tea. I never would have discovered her work if not for stumbling on a reaction vid to her Je Suis Malade one day. I am NOT the kind of person to stan anyone, but that jaw-dropping performance made me an instant superfan. I mourn all the years I didn't know about her and her amazing talent.

@@DoggieFosters I feel the same way. I just discovered her recently but not because of Dimash. I watched a video about the "Trinity" of Mariah, Whitney and Celine and the comments were blowing up about Lara...i had to see who she was all about! Like yourself, I'm so glad I found her but mad it didn't decades ago....

You Tube has brought Lara to a whole new listening fan base. She recently brought us a documentary of her 30 years in music. When she came to New York in 2019 she was very upset that her billboard of Lara Fabian at the Beacon Theater was met with ‘ Who is Lara Fabian”?? The US missed out on promoting her as an artist with international appeal when she tried out in 90’s. She didn’t make it here and it’s such a shame. Love Lara. She’s the best for me.

@@DoggieFosters no it’s not sub titled but perhaps in future it will happen.
I understand a lot of French so I understood a good portion of documentary. It was really well done.
I really got a kick out of her discussion of her comparison over the years with Céline. She said something like ‘ It’s the way the game is played’ when Lara found a strong fan base in France and Canada. Celine’s territory! She’s a tough lady.

Che dire MOSTRUOSA !! Questo pezzo è conosciuto come Adagio in sol minore di Tomaso Albinoni un musicista del 1700 in realtà la composizione è merito di Remo Giazotto su frammenti andati perduti dello stesso Albinoni

This is actually Tomaso Albinoni's "Adagio" from the 17th century. But Lara Fabiani just adds to it, very emotionally

Interesting that this is actually not about romantic love with a human, but rather the relationship with song writing inspiration...Adagio is a stand in for that inspiration.

This is a fascinating song. Lara turned it into a singable piece by writing lyrics, but the melody is a neoclassical piece written in the 1950s by a music historian over some unfinished fragments by early baroque composer Tomaso Albinoni. (Thus it has a similar, and similarly long, history to the likes of Paul Simon's "American Tune"...you could do a whole series of reactions on classically-based songs...)
