  • The Matamp GT1 (www.matamp.co.uk) is a 100W single channel tube amplifier with lots of great features. It has a switchable master volume for high headroom, a low cut before the preamp and power selection down to 25W. In this video we check out how it sounds with both pre and power amp dimed and how it can tighten up with pedals. You can find part 1, where we checked it out as a pedal platform, here: • Matamp GT1 - Part 1 (D...
    About the FX Loop: The signal coming out of the send is too loud for pedals and pedals cannot provide the level the return is expecting. ODs will clip at lowest gain settings and digital delays will be far too quiet.

    Hands down the best GT1 demo on youtube in my opinion. The tune you're playing and your tasteful use of effects are just the cherry on top.
    Not only that, you managed to get me interested in that Garbage Collector of yours! I plan to eventually move to a Boss ES8 controlled board and that thing would perfect for integrating my Rubberneck.

      Hey, thanks a lot! Regarding the Garbage Collector, I believe the ES-8 can do that on its own with the CTL outputs. But of course you're welcome to buy one anyway :)

    I got my GT2 a couple months ago and I feel like I've only hit the tip of the iceberg with all the available tones from that amp. Excellent demo, you've given me some great ideas to try out. Thanks!

    nice demo! Suprised about the effects loop not working like an effects loop. Thanks for the heads up. So you cant put your delay and reverb etc through the effects loop really then? That is a dealbreaker for me.

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, not without other buffers. The signal coming out of the send is too loud for pedals and pedals cannot reach the level the return is expecting. ODs will clip at lowest gain settings and digital delays will be far too quiet.

    Would love to know how you recorded this! I just recently got an OR100 and would love to capture a tone like this for recording!

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There are two things I consider crucial. First, dial in your tone the way you record it. Do not try to capture a tone that you already dialed in "in the room". Use headphones or your monitors for that. That saves you a lot of headache. Second, double, or quad tracking. Yeah, but a video on that is over due.

  • @jasoncraig4360

    Hey great video! I own a GT1 myself and lately have been having some issues with excessive feedback. As soon as any dirt hits it, even just boosts, it is always verging on screeching feedback if i leave a note to sustain at all. Have you encountered this at all and if so, any recommendations for settings to avoid this? Thanks!

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh shite, doesn't have any issues with mine yet, but I don't use it very often. Have you tried asking the guys at Matamp? Hopefully they can help.

    The gt1 is the highest gain amp offered by matamp?
    I am seriously considering picking one of these up. I usually run just my guitar into the amp,at most an OD to tighten things for something a touch modern.

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure, but the GT-1 hasn't that much gain on its own.

      No, sadly not. The Roost stays no. 1. It's just better for pedals.

    I’ve been curious about trying a buffer pedal with time based pedals in my gt1 fx loop….have you tried this?

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A buffer won't help. The send signal is just too quiet. A booster, or a line mixer could work.

      @@OscillatorDevices maybe like a tc spark mini?

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hold on, my mistake, it's the opposite. The signal of the send is too loud. You'll need a minus booster for the send, to bring down the signal to a level that works with guitar pedals. After that that you might need a booster to bring the signal up to the level of the send.
