    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, missed your comment. No, I haven't. The problem is, that the send is too loud for guitar FX, but if you turn it down, it won't be loud enough for the return. But there is a device specifically designed for that, it's called the Dumbleator. Unfortunately they're kind of expensive and hard to get, but there are kits out there.

    • @OscillatorDevices

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, there is a bass in my demos, but you won't tell a human bass player to turn it that much down :) If I remember right, AG into RH was a bit much high end, but I have to try it again.

  • @JeffBarberDigideus
    @JeffBarberDigideus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    cool video, although I gotta say, I'm still quite a fan of that Roost head. I had never heard of them before your videos!
    I'm wondering, can you use the EQ on the roost or an external eq to get closer to the GT1? The guitarist from Frayle has a video on his channel where he plays the GT1 next to an Orange TH100 (I think) and the difference between them was perceptible, but all down to the EQ as he managed to get them to sound pretty much the same. I know its like comparing Oranges to Oranges right? I don't think the choice of head is *THAT* essential as a hiwatt, laney, matamp, orange or even an marshall will get you in the ballpark..., although that said I saw Boss Keloid recently and their guitarists use a matamp green head and cabs and a peavey 6505 and they have quite a unique sound.
    Anyway, cool video! I like that midi switch mod. I was thinking of building a passive switching system myself but I like that yours is midi controllable. Nice work and awesome tones dude

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, nah, the EQ only brings you so far. I already matched them as good as it gets. I'd dial in a bit more mids on the GT1 normally, but then the Roost would have been sounded like a wet towel in comparison :) When it get's to the top end sparkle though, not a chance with the GT1. With the Presence knob past 12 o clock it becomes unbarably harsh. With an external EQ? Well, probably. But when it comes to EQ'ing distorted guitars, I just don't. It's the most tiresome and unsatisfying task and it always only gets worse.
      I know the Frayle videos, the GT1 video was a huge help in making the decision to buy that amp. I can't remember a comparison to an Orange, though, but I guess they can be pretty close, yes. Anyway, thanks for the kind words!

  • @saturnskull1242
    @saturnskull1242 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey man, great as always! I think the roost is way more defined and mid focused. The matamp is a beast on its own the sound breaks easier... I don't know which one I'd prefer depends on the context I suppose... So I also noticed that you've drilled the fuzzes, is it for the midi system you refer to? Also if you don't mind, were the customs fees, taxes etc for the matamp too much? If I recall you're eu based, and I've been thinking at some point getting a matamp but I can't get some solid info from the matamp guys... Doom!

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, exactly, that's for the MIDI system. The circuits of the pedals are untouched. As for the order process, I ordered them from matamp.de. This guy handles the whole shebang. It was actually the first order for him after Brexit and it was a nightmare and took forever. But he handled everything and checked the amp and biased it again before shipping it to me. Downside, it was a bit more expensive than the listed price...

    sick video! Got any advice for getting tones like these on an orange th30? Im running a eqd hoof and plumes, got a walrus iron horse too. Really want to try and make the most out of what I already have without spending a load more money. Should i be running into the clean or crunch channel of the amp? Dimed volume and moderate gain on the pedals or vice versa? Is there simply not enough headroom on a 30watt amp to get tones like these? Cheers, love your channel!

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I would use the clean channel and get all dirt from the pedals. Dirt channels of Oranges sound great, but I never liked it with pedals. 30W are plenty!

    Love the bass on the gt1. Just gorgeous. I have one. In band setting I tend to dial the bass down and mids/treble up. Any tips on bringing out those bass tones while playing with others?

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think in a band context your approach is the best. Turn your bass down and let the bass player handle it. You could try to talk your bass player into turning down everything above 120hz and let the guitar handle that. I guess your bass player will not be amused :)

    What in your opinion is the best fuzz to retain low end tightness (as much as possible) on palm mutes?

    • @OscillatorDevices
      @OscillatorDevices  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I rarely had good results with single fuzz pedals. Stacking is the key. A low gain OD in front of the fuzz gives you a good and tight low end. The type of OD determines the amount of low end. TS is very tight, Bluesbreaker not so, for example. And for the fuzz, I'm a fan of Muff-style pedals.
