    Love the EAE Model Fet, they make such a great preamp for ampless style rigs. One of my fav things is the headroom and retaining playing dynamics instead of crushing it like modern high gain heads sometimes will... The other cool thing/bonus (if you're into it) is that some of the preamp pedals like the EAE Model Fet and the Kuro T120 (have both) also emulate the poweramp color and distortion if/when cranked than many people love those amps for in the doom scene in particular too.

    Great tone. Instead of the EFE Model FeT, I use the Kuro Exegol, which IMO, I like better. I have the Doom Screamer instead of the Witch Burner, but I think they both perform the same. I love my Drone Master and Quantum Mystic. Instead of the Boss Space Echo, I have the Fuzzlord Effects Space Master and Dark Master. Nice Yob riff.
    I could not live without the FE Drone Master, Void Master, Doom Screamer, FU-2, Dark and Space Masters Kuro T120 and Exegol, Cosmic Terror Effects The Sonic Doom, DiD Elder God, Doomcaster, and Hypercoven, EQD Hizumitas, EHX Small Stone phaser, MXR flanger, Boss HM2, GE7, NS-2, and PS6. I also like my Frost Giant AoR. As you can see, I love effects pedals.

    DigiTech rp 350/55 into eh 16 second with permanent loop, into an old zoomplayer 2100 for additional loop and delay and/or reverb 👽

    I have Dronemaster it's my favorite pedal it's so versatile. I tried recording it into my Focusrite scarlet solo with an IR loader but I could never get it to work properly, same with my other pedals. They all seemed to have less gain and volume than normal. Maybe because they aren't preamps? I've thought about doing a rig very similar to yours with multiple gain pedals and maybe a reverb delay and getting one of those cheap Crown power amps like King Buzzo uses to power it all 😂

    • @SOUNDFARE
      @SOUNDFARE  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you need a preamp pedal to make it sound any good! There are plenty of affordable preamp pedals out there. You also need a good Cab IR (it’s crazy how much these shape your sound)

    Great vídeo!!! Can I ask you a very basic question?
    I’m using Dunwich DA120 and Quantum Mystic as overdrive (depending on the sound I’m looking for). Then modulation, and straight into my audio interface with Amplitube to emulare an Orange 129z
    If I put the model fet at the end of my pedalboard, that would serve me as an amplifier?
    I’m looking for that middle step, and then go to a IR loader so I can get rid of all the plug-ins. Thanks a lot!!

    • @nikk0k
      @nikk0k ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the Model FET is acting like the main preamp in this set up for shaping the tone like an Amplifier would.

    • @SOUNDFARE
      @SOUNDFARE  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it’ll do the job very well! I had it infront of the modulation so it wasn’t the last pedal on my board just to emulate to have an fx loop. But you can do whatever you are fine with. If it sounds good there’s no rule.

    • @Proceedtheweedian
      @Proceedtheweedian ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot for the answers guys! I can’t afford one now, but I hope they continue making them next year. I was almost convinced to get a the new Does It Doom preamp but you changed my mind!!

    Phaser and delay after the preamp? 😅I knew I kept doing something wrong

    • @SOUNDFARE
      @SOUNDFARE  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      There’s no right or wrong, mate! I used it this way because I wanted to simulate the fx loop of an actual amp. That’s why I had these two after the preamp pedal. But do whatever fits your sound/ear! Sometimes it’s even better to have modulation pedals at the beginning. Just give it a try and get creative 🙌🏻

    serious question:
    all these doom GUITAR channels talkin about how stuff increases your low end etcetc
    ever played that shit in a mix? it's really just muddying up everything, unless you slap a hpf at the end ~280hz
    why is that? because the guitars cross the bass' path way too many times - even the bass (tuned to C) needs to cut out low mids because its just a sonic mess otherwise
    me too I love swollen pickles n stuff on my baritone tuned guitars etc - play loud with a bass or even 2nd guitar and its just an inaudible cacophony - unless you force your bass player to play without distortion, maxed out compression & palm muted root notes. but your doom bass player will eternally hate you for that.
    so again - excluding Sunn O))) covers - why that pointless chase of muddy low end for guitars?

    • @SOUNDFARE
      @SOUNDFARE  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      good point that I dont want to argue. but I also strongly believe, that the doom genre isnt about "perfect" tone creation imo. for me its more about the feeling you get when playing a chord or a note, which i really dont care about which hz the lows or highs are cutted. if it gets me, it gets me. low end to me is not just a sound thing. but yes, you're correct, in the mix there are different rules to make things heavy and ballsy. thats why bands should be seen at concerts and not just on some shitty iphone speaker. dont get me wrong, nowadays everything has to sound good on your cellphone too, but overall I think that its the dynamics and rumble that really makes these tones shine - preferably in a live setup.

    • @SkiingAintCrime
      @SkiingAintCrime 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      also good point - if it sound good, it sound good!
      end of the day its about fun (and highly agree doom certainly isnt about the perfect tone lmao we love it anyways)

    Nobody wants an ampless doom rig unless you are playing allone in your bedroom. Every tube amp with a fuzz pedal will do it. Playing doom is not just playing a certain type of music, it is worshipping the gear that creates this massive noise

    • @eaglebauer944
      @eaglebauer944 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      No, worshipping gear is for posers and wannabe Sunn O)))'s. Just like you said "Every tube amp with a fuzz pedal will do it." And you don't even need a tube amp. I play an Epiphone SG through a solid state bass amp with 2x15 cabs, and a Rat in front. Done. The only thing I worship is the sound.

    • @roadkill2726
      @roadkill2726 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree. Just like nobody needs a Hellcat but it's a thrill for them. I've never played outside my bedroom but I've had enough huge rigs in there to cause a sinkhole 😂
      I could never get used to just using computers and stuff like that. Takes all the fun out.

    Those Model T Preamsp sound awful if you compare them to a real Sunn. Just buy a good tube amp. It will get you there. Even a JTM can get you there. Stop being so stuck running after a amp that's not so special after all.
