    I smiled when you picked the same sanke that I would have. Sanke are my favorite so far but I just started learning about koi.

    so i just watched the entire discussion so far and i just want to say THANK YOU!! In the last month i have purchased two koi and have since become a newfound addict. since then i have found your videos incredibly interesting as well as insightful. really appreciate you guys taking the time to share the vast amount of info on this amazing fish. cant wait to see what is next in the discussion. i dont know what is coming next and i know koi are pretty hardy fish but im sure some of us are hoping for a lesson on Identifying koi illnesses and how to properly treat and quarantine them. thanks again!!

    Enjoy learning things from this pond digger series!!! Two years ago I was able to raise about 200 baby metallic butterfly koi and sold most of them this spring. Planned to keep only 14 but ended up with about 30!! Some were hiding in the lily roots!! Had to drain the pond to catch them!! They are all a beautiful variety!! Took all your advice! Now I can sit back and enjoy their beauty and feed them by hand cause they are so tame!! Thank You for sharing your knowledge!!! I'll still be needing updates!!! So looking forward to more info!!!!

    I remember selectively picking some koi and goldfish for my home. I had like a lot of fish in the basins and I had selected fish from like a basin of 50 to 30 to 20 down to 10. Most people don't like it when I do it since they have to wait for me to finish and I take a while. I would go through different sizes and color patterns to get the fish I wanna buy and I usually have a centerpiece koi but if I don't, I just have to make sure all the koi are equally striking in terms of colors and patterns.

    I've learnt something after watching quite a few videos over the past couple of weeks since I had shoulder surgery and can't do much else. I think I picked out all the same koi that you picked as your best choices. Yeah to me. I want to get some more koi for our fish pond in the yard as we only have 3. I live in Australia, so I'm a bit restricted as to where I get them from. I only want that sort of size you had in the video.

    Nice advice, to select a group from a huge batch of fish (which keep distracting attention) and the select your favourite from the group but need to say not all dealer would like to do that, not all would be willing to manipulate the fish like Shawn.
    Also, from all the koi videos, Shawn have been telling us not to chose the more vivid coloured one to start with but He or you did chose the more vivid one here, so could ThePondDigger clear up on that please.
    I was amaze when Shawn said 8 fish and the conversation goes on because here (Mauritius) also, I am told to always take odd numbers of fish and never take even and thought that was a superstition belief.
    As for the shusui, I preferred the one in the middle at 5:13 and the other, I think you did take the one which I was telling myself that you have to pick up this one.
    Overall, nice topic again, great video like always, thanks

    I know I can put Koi fish in a tank do they do just as good in a Tank than a pond
    I am looking at getting some and all i have is a 75 double wide tank is this ok ?

    • @ThePondDigger
      @ThePondDigger  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can certainly start you koi off in an aquarium but ultimately they will out grow the tank if you keep the water quality up. No reason why you can't enjoy them in the house when they are young.

Just got it yesterday but I dont know if they would let me return it for a different one :( i do have a month guarantee and have the receipt but to exchange it might be different than if it passed.. i guess tomorrow i can call them..

    I want to buy fish in even numbers because I want everything to be perfectly symetrical. Even though not in pattern, at least the quantity of fish is a number divisible by 2 which will make me happy. Unless its something really expensive or aggressive then I will buy only one.

    Just to point out,the sanke in the bowl is not a tancho,a tancho is just a red beni spot on the hend with out any beni on the rest of the body, the sanke in the bowl has two patches of beni on its body so it it's a maruten sanke, not a tancho

  • @julia.e.carpenter

    Seeing those different varieties didn't make me happy tho. My koi have been raised for 10 years (total alive 22) and sadly they're about 10 different types, so that's a bit unfortunate. Over the years, I will bought different types just to add variety but until now can't find Asagi and Shusui.
