    Had one of those a loooong time ago. Sold it in 2018 and got myself a MISTer in 2020. I got two of those now :D
    Things I didn't like about the MiST were the fixed stereo separation (the channels were slightly mixed together, that was done in hardware). And the video output which didn't work with every TV or monitor since it needed to support the refresh rate of the core. Apart from that it was a lot of fun.

      @@RainerK. I still have my mist and mister, way back when I did a little work on the c64 core for the mist, both great machines

    cheers for excellent vid. Got a Mist 1.5 and really it was mostly for C64 and Amiga but just about everything is so good as well and makes it the best value for me. The ease of use in booting straight to a sysem and then plugging zipsticks or usb is so much easier than the time I faff with say Retropie etc. I love emulators mind but prefer the single booting Amibian or the briloliant BMC64. I never moved on from these systems and play them loads still and it's good to see others enjoying them

      I too really like emulators, and bmc64 really is superb, the Mist may be knocking on but they keep updating the cores (usually backporting mister code )
      And it's still a nice fpga

      @@CaptainCommodore yeah it is. Actually I watched a ton of videos and yours was the one that made me decide to get one so cheers for that. I'll hopefully get a Mister one day too

    MiST is capable of much more than that. It can run many arcade games like Capcom CPS 1, CPS 1.5, CPS 2, Irem M72 / M92 (R-type 1/2, R-Type Leo, In the hunt, etc...), many Konami games (Simpson, Parodius, TMNT,....) as well as Neo-Geo AES/MVS, Neo-Geo CD, PC Engine, PC Engine CD, SNES,....
    In fact most of the cores existing on MiSTer are also present on MiST except 3D systems like N64, Playstation 1, Sega Saturn and Jaguar as far as the FPGA chip in the MiST is too small for those. If someone is interested only in 2D gaming and doesn't need an HDMI output, then the MiST is a nice option to consider as far as it only costs 200 euros (when MiSter is around 500) and embeds a nice set of I/O (2x DB9 ports to plug Amiga, C64, Atari ST, megadrive, atari 2600 original joysticks and mouse, 4x USB ports as well as MIDI in/out interface to use with Amiga, Atari ST or PC cores).

    • @CaptainCommodore

      Of course, the mist can run anything that will fit into the LUTs and Bram , I really like the mist but I do miss the HDMI from the mister , however, the SIDI 2.0 has been released which kinda bridges that gap

      @@CaptainCommodore Yes the SiDi 128 has been freshly released but the future for such a platform is very questionnable as it only adds Playstation 1 core to what was available on the MiST (so far) + an HDMI (unscaled) video output. Though, it still costs around 400 euros after taxes which is 2 times the price of a MiST which is way too much when you can get a MiSTer for a bit less than 500 (i've seen some ready for use at 475) 😏

      I have a mister too, after reading how the 1.5 is about to go on sale and the lack of fpga chips oli thought I would dust mine off and see how far the cores have progressed, it's still very capable despite its age

    So, why are they releasing new MiST hardware with more memory when the MiSTer already has more RAM?

    • @CaptainCommodore
      @CaptainCommodore  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well the mister has more blockram, sdram is far easier to add, the mist is still a nice system even if eclipsed by the mister

    • @emmettturner9452

      @@CaptainCommodore Thanks. Is there a core that can use the extra block RAM?

    • @CaptainCommodore
      @CaptainCommodore  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @emmettturner9452 block ram is a part of the fpga chip , mister has much more than mist , sdram is the addon ram chip

    I was always interested in the MiST project being a huge Amiga 500 fan. I think ill jump into the MiSTer now as I was never really inclined to use scart or have a CRT monitor taking up real estate in this day and age. Its a bit pricy to get into but should be a lot of fun. Especially now they have a decent N64 core in the works.

      @@CaptainCommodore It’s not, it’s on MiSTer. :(
      OP was saying he’d get a MiSTer “especially” for the N64 core. I’ve been playing around with the near-daily updates for a couple months now and it’s great! Using a Nintendo Switch Online N64 controller. Heck, last night I even loaded Game Boy games into Pokemon Stadium 2 GS with the core’s new virtual Transfer Pak support. ;)

    Commodore is a rank above captain, his nickname became strange. Just my opinion, everyone chooses the nickname they like.
