    Really nice video, i didn't know you could click on the dimensions and add them to the cut list, thanks.

    Hello, is it possible to set more features like description or weight to cutlist by deafult? Now like You showed I have to add this manually.

    Great Video! Have you ever run into a problem with the 'Auto Ballons'? I made a cut list on a tubular frame and it lists 22 pieces but then when I do the 'Auto Ballons' it only makes 1 ballon and does not list all the pieces in the cut list. Can figure out why it is doing this.

    • @goengineer
      @goengineer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The most likely issue is that the balloons in the view are not linked to the weldment cutlist. If you open the properties of the drawing view you should see an option in the lower left to link balloons to a specific BOM or Cutlist. If you are still having trouble check with your local VAR for specific support on your file.

    So how are the fab drawings done? I received feed back that they don't use angles to do the cuts ad if that is the case then what needs to be shown. Also the length of accurately to two decimal places doesn't seem as adequate to fabricating the weldment. What do the shop guys expect? Thanks

    • @goengineer
      @goengineer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi A-L-A-N GaV,
      The answers to your questions have to come from the fabrication shop you are contracting with. You will need to ask them how they wish to have these values given to them then create the drawing around that.

    If you just wanted to draw the sheet metal feature you have on there, how would you separate that out the way you did for the structural member?

    • @goengineer
      @goengineer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scott, if you are just talking about the flat plate, then nice thing about the weldment environment is that the Merge Result checkbox is off by default, so if we just start a sketch and extrude it then it won’t merge with the rest of the bodies. It will show up in the Cut-List as a generic folder. There are some new options in later SolidWorks versions where we can help clean up the way the Cut-List is displayed. With regular weldment members, we can have the description changed over to use the description of the profile so it doesn’t just say “Cut-List-Item(X)”, but we can also use an option to create a bounding box for extruded plate where it can populate that description too. That way we don’t have to pull the sketch dimensions into the Cut-List item description. A video from 2015 shows the option to rename the description (about 4:15 into the video): th-cam.com/video/mKmiJAF3VQk/w-d-xo.html.
      For extruded plate, try checking out the SolidWorks help to find out more about using the bounding box to help populate the description.
      Here is a link for the SW2022 version: help.solidworks.com/2022/english/solidworks/sldworks/c_bounding_boxes_in_weldments.htm

    Hi Tony, my lengths arent showing up in the weldment cut list...why is that? Its all blank

    • @goengineer
      @goengineer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter DiCapua, I'm sorry, it could be a number of possibilities, like the cut-list not getting updated. You'll need to contact your local SOLIDWORKS reseller to receive the best assistance with this.

    Hi mates!
    Does anyone know how to get the weldment cut list item number to be used in a custome property, so that I can name the different bodies with a call out balloon?

    My cut list is faded..and i dont know why. Any tips how to make it work?

    • @goengineer
      @goengineer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing that I can quickly think of is that you are possibly editing your initial layout sketch that is used to derive your weldment. While you are editing it, that can cause the Cut List to be greyed out. The best idea is to contact your local SOLIDWORKS reseller and show them the problem. Thank you for your comment and watching.

    I hate this video, because I didn't know about it years ago. The passing reference to "insert-drawing view-relative to model" is so infuriating, because I could have been doing this all along... Also, thanks for a great video.
