Learn how a simple sketch can make a pretty advanced weldment frame. See how SOLIDWORKS automatically updates the weldments cuts list, how you can add custom properties, and then create a drawing and detail out individual parts. Most of this video is pretty simple, but there are quite a few tips and tricks tucked away!! Quick Tip presented by Steven Darcey of GoEngineer.

This is exactly the type of drawings our shop needs, except they require bolt hole locations also. Is there a way to model and draw weldment structure with bolt holes on members. (Our fabricators drill holes on members prior to any welding)

How to connect proporties from single weldment (your sheet2) part do drawing table?

    Thank you,
Ive a problem, i hop you can help me:)
If i change the angle of the relative view, all dimensions desepairs, is that normal ?

Thanks. Very informative. Can you combine cut and bend list?

    • @goengineer

You may not be able to combine the tables directly, but some of the data in the sheet metal parts can have properties that can populate the weldments cuts list. Take a look at Tony’s video on the Weldments Cuts List - th-cam.com/video/14Lh-2SJlfg/w-d-xo.html . This may take a lot of time due to the bend tables data comes from the bend features in the feature tree. A sneaky way would be to export each table to an excel spreadsheet format it, then copy and paste it into your drawing, the only downside is that any updates to the parts would require a manual update of the table.

    Use the Space Frames?

  • @jaysonpiamonte.1010

This a very helpful video for a beginner like me, I just have a question. The height of the frame on the drawing is 48 inches from top to bottom. If you apply weldment additional thickness will be added since the dimension line will fall in the middle of the material. So if I cut the #3 material by 44.55 inches and place it over the #1 material which the reference line is in the middle of the material then the total height in actual will be more than 48 inches. Can you help me on this?

Weldment profile orientation can be controlled so that the material is added to the inside of the over dimensions. If you look at the locate profile option in the property manager goeng.io/E2xpTe that should get you what you need. IF you have more questions check with your VAR's training and support team they should be able to help you more directly.
