Nobody said you have to use the pogo trick, go ahead and kill step-bro, having trouble gathering essence because you want to avoid Deepnest much as possible? Go ahead and get assaulted by an angry ping pong ball, nobody is telling you “you have to do it in THREE bosses, not one, not four, but three!” Rusty here is just showing you how to do it, in three bosses, don’t pressure yourself to do just three

My biggest challenge for me was going Queen's Garden for last 2 grubs. My laptop sucks for super-micro-control for super dash so I just made it by defeating Soul Tyrant. With only one additional boss, you can get 1 more grub in Sanctum and the other in Resting Ground. I recommend this if you have problem with going Garden. :)
One thing I learned while following this guide of sorts was that when you fight the shrumal ogres, nail bouncing on their caps actually doesn’t do any damage to them

The editing was top notch, the Coliseum was just the icing on the cake. Takes a lot of work and you have to enjoy what you do to put in that much effort, and it turned out great.

I have some small tips to add to this guide: 1) Getting the nail upgrades costs geo too so you might want to collect some treasures along the way and sell them or get the Gathering Swarm from Sly. 2) If the Colosseum is still too hard for you, you can also get the Howling Wraiths in Fog Canyon and the Nail Arts. None of them require bosses to fight if you're into that challenge. 3) The skip to Queen's Gardens is really hard to pull off and takes a lot of practice. If you're in a hurry though, I'm afraid you'll have to result to fighting either Dung Defender for Isma's Tear or Soul Master for Desolate Dive. Both of them get you access to more Grubs. 4) Other useful charms are: Soul Catcher, Shaman Stone, Nail master's Glory and maybe Dashmaster.

I think the game is renowned among Indy enthusiasts ( it appears on a lot of best-of lists ) and while the "genre" is a _relatively_ small niche ( compared to something as mundane as mobile games or even the generic shooters we get every single year ), in the end, it found its place. You found it, I found it, the people in the community found it and they made a planned DLC into a sequel. This game has come a long way. It could go further but contrasted with the insane amount of games out there ( I mean, I have a wishlist of several hundred titles and I am pretty picky about my games ), Hollow Knight stands as a testimony to the idea, that independent publishing is in a better place than it has ever been. And with technology becoming more available and verbal "propaganda" slowly making its way across the globe, I firmly believe that this game will be remembered fondly by millions of players all over the world. I think we are both living evidence of this statement.

I like the editing here! Props on making the route and actually showing the whole thing; I usually just stop at Coiled Nail early on because it shreds through bosses with Fragile Strength. The Watcher Knight double jump bypass is fun because I completely missed double jump my first time playing and thought it was just what you're supposed to do. I never could get that Isma's Tear skip, though; is there a trick to the positioning? I always bonk on the thorns.

As someone who has edited videos to time up with music before, I know that can sometimes be hell to do, and it takes forever, trimming and reordering clips together. 4:02 Alternatively, you can pogo off of the crystal there. If you fail, just leave and re-enter the room. 4:10 I found it easier to get the thing to shoot the wall, then pogo off of the crystal it leaves behind instead of the fly itself. You actually don't need crystal dash for that ore, you can just pogo on all the crystal spikes intsead (though ofc in this instance you have crystal dash anyway, so you might as well use it).

Doing it in 5-6 is alot faster and alot easier.

Can we please appreciate the editing for the Colosseum part? As someone who has edited videos to time up with music before, I know that can sometimes be hell to do, and it takes forever, trimming and reordering clips together. Thanks for putting up with that nightmare to bring us an amazing product.

4:02 Alternatively, you can pogo off of the crystal there. If you fail, just leave and re-enter the room.
4:10 I found it easier to get the thing to shoot the wall, then pogo off of the crystal it leaves behind instead of the fly itself.
You actually don't need crystal dash for that ore, you can just pogo on all the crystal spikes intsead (though ofc in this instance you have crystal dash anyway, so you might as well use it).
