Thanks Austin. You answered pretty much every question I had. I been doing corporate video for over 15 years and have had so many "Video Cameras" but I love how so many of these DSLR cameras are getting so video minded. I am a die hard Sony user and am looking for a backup/second camera. You helped me just make up my mind and finally go with the A7sII. Thanks and I sub to your channel!
you probably dont care at all but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Ayaan Alvin thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Just came across this video, Some up to date info ('23). I am a stills photographer and started with the A7S in '14 in Oct captured the lunar eclipse using a Canon Film lens using an adapter and was perfect. One thing to understand, back in the beginning '14 software was bad and expensive the joy then was Capture One cost $30 for Sony, today even Lr is magic. The A7s model is great for stills I went A7S because it did bracketing 5 @ 3EV (even today you will not find a program that can merge the images) 5 @ +/- 2EV is really great for sunsets/rise and blue hour for stars and dark sides of objects bright and detailed like driftwood. I got the A7R2 in '17 and with the IBIS I was able to Bracket 3 @ +/- 2EV hand held in Antelope Canyon while others were on sticks doing long exposures and at the Grand Canyon the same settings at night got the deep part and the stars on the south rim sidewalk one thing to understand NR turns off when bracketing so you get hot and dead pixels but are saved with merging they go away. The A7s did better than the A7Rii at night BUT the A7Rii can hold its own. there are apps that process in camera at sony playmemories apps www.playmemoriescameraapps.com/portal/ that make things easier like Digital Filter that will allow the capture of the Milky Way over a lit City but the site will close in 2025. I highly recommend any model and they will outperform most other brand even today, other brands just went mirrorless and are playing catch up you will not find. For a book on the models go to Brian Smith website to get a pdf or look on line for the books "You need a book to know Everything you can do". Just have fun!
My 5dm2 died due headshot of salt ocean water in opened mount, and now i have to diside what system deal with. One of the most clearest video i ever seen. Great flow, so short and full in same time. Thanx alot. Ordering Sony :)
Very honest and to the point comparison. You certainly helped me for my next purchase to A7ii as i am an enthusiast and want to upgrade to full frame from sony A6000.
Thank you for the review very clear and easy to understand the differences on all 3 cameras. Im just like you about to switch and this help clear things up for me.
Was really on the fence till I saw this video, as I do a lot of photography the a7Rii seems way better. Also coming from Canon so pleased to hear about the adaptor is good. Thank you!
Great, objective comparison. Thank you. On the fence between the A7ii and A7Rii, and you nudged me toward the former. The "R" would be great, but it's so expensive. Sounds like the A7ii will be just perfect for me - and with the "savings", I can get a nice lens.
Feeling exactly the same way. It seems that you can get the ii much cheaper than the Rii. if you can push your budget to the Rii you could probably push it a bit more and get the iii now.
David, I use vintage lenses from the 1970s or so. I never use Auto anything even back when I had the Sony PD150 DVCam. I am using a Canon 2000D (T7) which I have yet to try out on video. If I am experimenting with a camera I will not want to go expensive. Maybe after I have a feel for these. A7ii goes for around $700 to $800 these days. I am interested in using my Canon FL 55mm f1.2 at some point which these three cameras can do. I found another TH-cam video that talks all about the Canon FL 55mm f1.2 adapter. I was able to find a A7Rii for $880. So I went for it.
Currently planning on switching from my 5D Mark II to a Sony A7 II as I have a vast array of FD lenses from the film days. I'm in love with the A7R II but in an attempt to be a reasonable man I think I'll go with the A7 II. It's really hard to justify spending twice as much on the A7R II.
i felt the same way so i got the A7II first then the A7RII later. I was completely satisfied with the A7II and the main reason I got the R was because the 4k video matched with my A7SII way better. Other than that, if youre just shooting photos, you should be completely satisfied with the A7II. Theyre so cheap now too for what it offers, its hard to say no ha. thanks for watching!
Best comparison between the three A7 mark 2 variants. Really comprehensive. Worst music ever though ;-). I only have one question, is there any noticeable difference between A7ii and A7sii regarding video quality on 1080p? Edit : Oh, I saw you answered that question a bit earlier "Since the A7SII has a 4k sensor, even when you shoot with it in 1080p, its way sharper than the A7II since its downsizing a 4K image to 1080". Thanks a lot !
Great vid thanks, nailed it. Lack of foldable touch screen like the 70d or 80/d kills me. Its such a hard feature to leave behind, especially the touch to focus conveniences. Agreed though, 7sii is insane with low light video . Best I've ever seen. I want to be in the 80d - a7 price range. I have some thinking to do.. Thanks for the vid
+MalikVisual Agreed. for the price, you cant go wrong. it handles photo and video just as good, if not better than its canon and nikon equivalents and at a better price point
I have been shooting Nikon 7100. Then i get the chance to be 2nd shooter in a wedding. And when it comes to reception i was struggling with low light i wanted to just trow my camera and just borrow one to my friend. Now i am ready to get new body and i am torn between A7ii and A6500. I was told to go Full frame for better IQ and low light. But the a6500 features is just so tempting. Anyway i hope you can help me decide. I dont shoot video. Just portraits, landscape, events and occasional wedding.
A7 series are full frame. You may get smaller lighter camera, but the lenses are also massive sometimes heavier than the DSLR counterparts, so the portability advantage of the system is actually marginal if you get full frame sony. Sony APS-C is where you get the real portability, system-wise.
Is the A7rII still worth it in 2023? I'm on a budget and the negative review about the battery is the only thing holding me back...is it really that bad? Thanks!
What did you move to? I have the A6500 and while it's a great camera I'd like to try out full frame. The A7ii is going for £700 new at the moment, but only does 1080p video
@@johnberry1471 I got the A7RIII right when it came out. I really enjoy it and I am sure it is to be found at a good price now that there is the A7RIV, etc. The pixel size is plenty for my needs on the RIII.
@@bt10ant the A7Rii is quite reasonably priced at the moment so I was considering it. The A7Riii is around 50% more expensive but I'm sure it must be a great camera. What made you choose the A7Riii over the A7Rii?
There's a big problem with the Sony A7RII - it can't track to save it's life and before anyone comments, I own the A7RII and it's the greatest camera I have ever used - except when it comes to tracking. Sony G lenses suffer from focus shifting i.e. the focus acquired when the lens is wide open shifts when the lens closes to a smaller preset aperture. So they "solved" this issue, via a firmware update, by changing the focusing system. It now acquires a basic lock wide open, then closes to the preset aperture, refocuses and then tries to track. Unfortunately at f8 the awesome phase detection AF disables and the camera hunts like you wouldn't believe! I was using a 200mm lens at a fashion show and at under 30 feet the area of focus is less than 3 feet using f8. So to ensure I got the clothing sharp I set the aperture at f8 and my lens hunted and missed the focus time and time again! Remember, the models were walking at less than 5mph and it could even track that speed. I switched to my other telephotos, all top lenses and it happened with each and every one of them. Sony are aware of the problem and have been for over a year since they have been inundated with compaints about this. The majority of owners have requested a firmware update allowing a choice of focusing either wide open or closed - and they've done nothing. Don't believe me, try it and see what happens or if you haven't the time go on the net and look it up, you'll find lots of complaints on the subject. So if you want an awesome camera for motionless subjects get the A7RII but if you shoot subjects that move, forget it and buy a DSLR. One last thought... I was considering buying the new A9 and then I realised if Sony have wrecked the A7RII with this via the firmware what's to stop them doing it with the A9? Be wary buying either of them. In the meantime I and many thousands of others are stuck with a camera that's fine as long as what we shoot is basically dead and not moving until Sony get their finger out and fix the problem. One unhappy A7RII owner...
ive recently been using the AF tracking for video more lately but mostly with my 16-35 on a gimbal and it tracks really well for that. i havent tried it at telephoto lengths but I can imagine it struggling more with that. i dont even bother trying AF with non E mount lenses since its so bad but with native glass, ive usually had great results. Ive also changed my AF tracking speed to medium instead of fast which is what it comes out of the box as. when its at a medium speed, it doesnt shift back and forth so quickly, its more of a smoother transition.
Thanks for your reply. In a wide angle situation I'm it reacts exactly as you say. Unfortunately for me and in particular studio users (who mainly use apertures of f8 and smaller) we are stuck. The A7RII truly is a wonderful camera but I can't use it for about 80% of my photography. Sony should have made it clear that the firmware was going to do this. If they correct the firmware then I will go back to loving this camera again, it was like my baby...but at the moment I hate picking it up.... Oh dear
yea theres still a few things im frustrated with about these sony A7 cameras since its still a relatively new system but it still works for me most of the time. Im sure these issues will be fixed in the next generation. I hope to have continuous AF as good as canons dual pixel soon!
I laughed when I read your "next generation" reply (which is totally true of course) since I didn't intend to buy a new camera for some time...at £2500 to £4500 each I think my wife would kill me, ha ha! Seriously, isn't it sad we have to spend so much for an update that shouldn't have been needed? I bought the A7RII, invested would be a better phrase as I wanted a camera that would last years and to me the A7RII is the ultimate camera only to find out that Sony have made ineffective for me. Fashion shoots and studio work, my favourite photography are now gone! I am devastated. I have posted something in the Sony Community in the hope someone there sees it and does something. It has affected so many photographers! Keep your fingers crossed for me although I think Sony will remove my post fast!
Hey great video man! I'm a Sony fan myself, I currently use the RX100 M4 mostly for it portability factor but would definitely consider upgrading to one of their full frame options in a heartbeat. Sony action cameras are pretty excellent as well, they're one of the only companies at the moment to offer full onboard stereo recording, which is actually quite decent and their built-in image stabilization is also why I prefer their action cameras for active video, like vlogging and sports. Keep up the great work man, a video/photo comparison between the 3 you mentioned might be a really cool video. Peace.
Perhaps you should mention that if you shoot lowlight pics A7S ii would be the option.. I have it and it's a monster for lowlight pics.. 10K -16k ISO is nothing..
for beginners, definitely. most people dont need the 42mp of the A7R which would be the main reason you would buy it. the 24mp from the A7II is definitely enough for 99% of shoots
@@flvsh_m3 the lens all depends on what kind of shooter you are. i personally prefer primes for photo which can get a bit pricey but I love my zeiss 55mm 1.8 which would also work really well for family photos. for car stuff you might want something a bit wider in the 24-35mm range
I'm looking to get a Sony Mirrorless camera next year. I'm deciding whether to get the A7ii or wait for the A7iii as I need it for my trip to Japan next year. Need a great all round photo + video.
not continuous but single focus eye AF with the A7ii. The A7Rii is just much better in AF and also much cleaner high ISO. if you can afford it, go for it
Thanks for the nice and simple comparison. My only gripe at the moment with Sony is the lack of lenses and the price. I am not a fan of using adaptors.
i agree with you. theyre a bit behind on lenses but theyre making a huge effort to fix that. new lenses have been coming out pretty frequently between sony and zeiss and their top quality glass most of the time
Just the kind of video I needed. simple, fast and with the information I was looking for. I would love to see a direct comparison from canon 5D and to SONY. I'm still doubting on which camera to buy. I'm familiar with 5D and like the look - but if I should invest in a either 5D, A7ii, A7Sii or A7Rii - I still don't know. I want to buy a used camera and my roof is $ 2,200 ( including lens(es) ) I need it to shoot smaller film projects, but also to photoshoots. what would you recommend.
Thank you for the detailed explanation of the three cameras! When it comes to the IBIS, do you know if they have similar systems or does one outperform another? I've been looking at the A7II and was curious if that has an "older" IBIS set up compared to the other Sonys you reviewed? Thank you!
Hi there! nice video as I am wondering which one of the two cameras actually - a7ii or a7rii - I'm gonna buy in the very next future. The questions I have are : Is the EVF different or same on both bodies ? AF speed seems to be better on the a7rii, compared to a7ii, can you confirm that ? Speaking about AF capabilities, is the difference kind a huge then or rather tiny ? What would you say ? By the way I'm essentially a landscape / architecture photographer. Some weddings too, from times to times. And more rarely, some portraits. That's it. No sport, no action, no street photography or so. Thank you for answering my questions and helping me in my future choice!
Emmanuel Luc-Streble the EVF is the same! The main difference In the cameras is the 4K video and the megapixels. The a7ii is 24 mp and the a7rii is 42mp. I use the a7ii and it has been able to do everything I need in land scape portrait and architecture. I just miss the 4K video
Thanks so much for this information. I was thinking of the A7S for low light photography and would have made a bad mistake. Looks like the A7iii or the A7Rii will be what I look at as I am interested in low light photography but not video. :)
Debating between getting the Sony A7R (Mark 1) and the Sony A7II for photography. Anyone have any advice? Is the image stabilization on the A7II worth having fewer megapixels than the A7R? Thanks!
the IBIS and 169 phase detection AF points are well worth getting the A7II over the A7R which only has 25 contrast detection points. the phase detection AF is wayyyyy better in almost every way

I do not agree about what you said about Sony A7S. "I definitely don't recommend it for photos" is quite inappropriate. That camera is great for photography. Especially, the ISO performance. I've got one and have taken great photos with it. The rest of the review, pretty great. But to label the Sony A7S as "not recommended" for photography is just unfair. Not everything is about megapixels either!
I'm about to purchase my first mirrorless camera and I'm on a budget. My choice is sitting between the Sony a6300 and the a7II. I have found both brand new for a very similar price (75 bucks difference. Now I'm really confused, because I don´t know which one to pick. I'm interested in film and photo, but mainly on the photo side. I would like have a nice film option for family events and filming some skateboarding clips. the focus lies more on sports photography. Also I have tons of Nikkor lenses from the 70's which I will use with an adapter. Could you help me out? what would you pick? Is the a7II still worth the money (1100€ with a kit lens) in 2018?
i would definitely go with the A7II. The only thing that the A6300 really has over the A7II is 4k recording and maybe a slightly better AF but I've used the A7II a bunch and that AF on that thing is still really really good. The full frame of the A7II is well worth the buy over the A6300. Also, in my opinion, the A6300 doesnt feel good in the hands. It has a weird form to it.
Which will be the best low light lenses for the cheaper camera like A7ii? For cinematic effect and also for studio photos. One more question please, I can not decide, which one to purchase: a6500 or a7ii
if youre really on a budget, the Sony 50mm 1.8 is a good low light option.it depends if you were doing mostly photo or video to decide which camera i would recommend. overall I like the A7II more since its full frame but the video quality isn't as crisp as the a6500 since it shoots 4k.
Great comparison. I am about to switch from Olympus to Sony. I have a Olympus E-5 camera and several expensive Zuiko ED lenses. Can I buy an adaptor so that I can use these Olympus lenses in my Sony A7 II camera? Which brand would you recommend?
Rosita Li I also switched from Olympus. I have not found an adapter for the zuiko lenses on Sony. Personally I would sell them and put the money towards native Sony lenses
thanks. im not 100% sure but i dont think so. i dont think you can put any non e mount lens on without an adapter but you can pretty much get an adapter for almost anything with sonys
I enjoy taking pictures but I am really looking for a camera that is great for video. I was really thinking about the 7rii but do you think it is worth the money over the a7sii?
it depends what youre shooting, honestly. if you need super low light capability and 120fps then the S is better for video for you. If those things dont matter then then R is a much better all rounder
first of all, this is a very nice review, really helpful. well, at the moment i'm using Canon 60D and i'm planning to upgrade and also move to Sony.. my needs are i'm using my camera mostly to take videos more than pictures. This will be my first time to use Sony camera, but i think i'll choose the Sony A7RII, what do you think about it?? i can use some input from you..:)
the A7RII is mindblowing, especially compared to the 60D. When i first looked at the files on my computer, I felt like I struck gold with the A7RII, ha. the resolution is super sharp compared to my old 6D and definitely from a 60D. Its a little weird getting used to a new system but its well worth it in my opinion.
I'm looking for a small camera that is great for fashion photography, cinematic film making, and vlogs. Also needs to have an external audio input. Must be able to shoot 24fps to 60fps. Right now I've been using my friends sony a6000 and so far i'm liking sony's cameras, mainly because of compact they are. What would you recommend?
pretty much any of Sonys mirrorless cameras have what youre looking for, it just all depends on your budget at that point. the a6300 and a6500 are supposed to be amazing and have top notch video quality. In some ways better than their full framed A7 line. the a6000/7300/6500 line might be a bit better for vlogging too since theyre smaller cameras than the full framed ones
Austin Paz thanks for the help. I noticed that the a6000 line doesn't have a flip screen. Do you think a flip screen will be necessary for vlogging? I'm pretty much looking for an all around camera that isn't too big and that I can use for fashion and street photography, short films, skits, and vlogging. Of course the lens plays a big part as well.
I've never done any vlogging myself but it seems that a flip screen definitely comes in handy for that. If youre using a super wide lens, it might not be as crucial but it all depends on what youre shooting. I know a lot of people are using the Sony RX100 lines for vloggins since its compact and has a flip screen so you may also want to look into that as well.
if youre looking to do video, the regular A7 and A7II arent the best option since they dont have 4k sensors. Id go with either the A7RII, A7SII or any of the new 3rd gen models (A7III, A7RIII) for video. their image quality is superb
I think this is a great video, but Idkkk man..the a7sii is a good all around camera as well. I use mine with native sony lenses, so that may be the difference
since this video, ive ditched all my canon glass and the A7sII is still ok, but even with native sony lenses, the af still isnt quick and accurate so I rarely use it for photos
the a7ii hurt my pockets bad 4 years later lol I wish I could get the a7s but I couldn't justify spending that much on a camera whilst not making money from it
Great comparison, the best i've seen so far - thanks! Curious about your take on the aliasing in video for A7II, have you noticed it and how bad is it?
+Shane Curtis Thanks for watching! I havent done any specific aliasing tests so i havent come across anything noticeable enough yet to make me say it was so bad and wasnt worth buying. Thats just my experience though.
I would love to switch, but Im afraid of loosing my loved canon combo 135L & sigma 50mm - would I loose focuse speed to these lenses if using the adaptor?
dude i know. that was the hardest part of me switching to sony. I love canon glass too. the a7rII and a7II work pretty well with the metabones adapter for canon lenses newer than 2006. id say its about 90% as accurate as on a canon body. Probably not ideal for sports or wildlife but for casual shooting or portraits its def suitable. It bothered me more to just have an adapter on my camera since it made it bigger and bulkier so im still slowly making the transition to sony/zeiss lenses.
I'm curious as to why the A7S II is better for video. I don't do any sports videography, mostly review video type stuff with my own lighting system (so the low-light performance isn't high priority for me). The A7 II is obviously much cheaper. Any other strengths the A7SII has for video?
+Andrew Blewski if low light and 120/1080p isnt a concern, then youll be fine with any of these cameras but keep in mind that the a7r and a7s have 4k capabilities and even if you dont need 4k, the resolution is still way better at 1080 than the regular a7II.
+Andrew Blewski im talking all bout the mark 2s since thats what I have used. I have no experience with the first generation A7 cameras so I cant say anything about them except whats on paper. As far as the Mark 2s though, its a fact that 1080p on the A7RII and A7SII are sharper than the A7II because youre using a 4k sensor to downsize to 1080 so theres more detail in each frame. I've heard about this before and after I used them I can 100% agree with that. The A7II still has great quality video but its just not as good as the R and S.
Thank you for making this video, it was very helpful. Can you talk more about how well the focusing works with the EF metabone's adapter - particularly, whether the auto focusing is suitable for shooting events, like weddings? I'm so stuck on the fence on whether I should stick with Canon (heavily invested in Canon gear) or switch to a new system, like Sony. Please help!!
+TetsusaigaDrgn As far as EF adapters, the Metabones is the only one I've used that works really well. The AF with the Metabones only works really well though on Sony cameras which use phase detectoin AF (A7RII, A7II). The AF sucks on the A7SII since it only has contrast detection AF. I would confidently shoot a wedding with either the A7RII or A7II with the Metabones adapter though, you would have no problem. However, there are a few more focusing options if you use native Sony E mount lenses. I havent had a chance to try any yet but i heard the eye detection AF works great and so does continuous AF while shooting video. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
In your opinion me as as beginner hobbies fotography not a commercial, but high demand sharpness and detail, is sony a7 mark ii enough ? Because i saw a7 iii give extreme fast autofocus, make me doubt to buy a7 ii , please your advices
i own the A7III now and I love it. In my personal opinion, it tops all three of these cameras in all around capabilities. If you can afford it, I would definitely go with the A7III becuase its suc h a good camera that it will be relevant much longer than the A7II
How is the a7ii at low light? I shoot mostly portraits, high school sports team photos, candids, and product photography (mostly knives), but I've been wanting to expand my sports teams work in include some action/game play work. That would be a lot of low light work with very bad stadium lighting. Which brings up another issue. How is the auto focus on the a7ii?
I'm a bit worried. I just bought the A7II for video and photo (both essential to me) and I just heard about the moire issue, I haven't tested yet! I don't know if I just made the biggest mistake ever or if it is not a really big issue. I have the Sony 16-35mm and the Sony 55mm 1.8 and I'm wondering if that can be fixed with those lenses and maybe with firmware updates. What do you think?
lenses dont really fix moire and alliasing, thats more about the sensor than anything. ive noticed it too but it was never a deal breaker for me. I guess it all depends on what youre shooting. Ive seen it before but never felt like i shot myself in the foot by using these cameras still. Personally, miore never persuaded me to go with one camera over another. Overall image quality is way more important to me.
grab a sony prime lens, then your autofocus will work ten times better. my A7SII autofocus is great on a 55mm prime sony lens. I work with a canon on my A6500 and the autofocus is slow, loud, and unnatural, I just keep it around for it's macro capabilities.
Loved the video, I currently bought the a7R3 for my main camera, coming from Canon also, but want a backup. I considered the A7rii , but the price is a little steep for a backup, would you suggest the A7ii as a good backup. I have Canon lenses with Metabones also, plus some native Sony Lenses. I mainly do Portraits, and still photography, Thanks for any advice!
A7RIIs are pretty inexpensive right now, but if youre mostly doing photography, the A7II would do just fine. I loved that camera for photos, it was great. Aside from the obvious 42mp resolution, it wasnt much different from the A7RII for photography.
thanx for the comparison!
a tip: music is way too loud
thanks, ive taken note for future videos ha

Very honest and to the point comparison. You certainly helped me for my next purchase to A7ii as i am an enthusiast and want to upgrade to full frame from sony A6000.
Damak Shine awesome choice! I hope to get the a6500 as a second shooter camera for its high speed!
Very helpful for someone looking to purchase one of these cameras. Thank you!

Excellent review, all the stuff I needed in a short, sharp delivery. Thanks very much.
Thank you for the review very clear and easy to understand the differences on all 3 cameras. Im just like you about to switch and this help clear things up for me.
thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback!
This is what I have been looking for. Thank you so much, now I know what I need.
Was really on the fence till I saw this video, as I do a lot of photography the a7Rii seems way better. Also coming from Canon so pleased to hear about the adaptor is good. Thank you!
Good job on this review, concise and to the point. Perfect b roll. Respect
Thanks for the rundown. Just made the purchase today to switch to Sony; hoping they are as good as others are saying.
thank you Austin bro cheers ... cleared my doubt
Great video. No fluff and straight to the point.
Andy Chen agreed!
Great, objective comparison. Thank you. On the fence between the A7ii and A7Rii, and you nudged me toward the former. The "R" would be great, but it's so expensive. Sounds like the A7ii will be just perfect for me - and with the "savings", I can get a nice lens.
Rashoop a7m2
Feeling exactly the same way. It seems that you can get the ii much cheaper than the Rii. if you can push your budget to the Rii you could probably push it a bit more and get the iii now.
Great video, but dude turn off that cheesy music when you're talking.
+gimmejerb ha thanks for the feedback! ill have a banger song for the next one
lol.. agreed. I was gonna say you have the music volume turned up so high it's overpowering your voice. Excellent video and very helpful though!
funny i was thinking the same thing.. just have to lower the volume a little to hear your voice clearer
I think so
Thank you, Austin. Much appreciated.
your focus pulls are insane!
haha thanks!
David,
I use vintage lenses from the 1970s or so.
Thanks for putting this together! It's surprisingly difficult to find a simple overall comparison of these cameras and who they're geared towards.
Thanks this is exactly what I wanted to know. Clear, concise, to-the-point.
I think the a7 ii is the more pratical choice, mainly because of it priceWith the right lens the video footage is amazing
Short, informative and straight to the point, thank you.
Amazing review. Will help lots of people
I just bought the a7ii for $1000.00 on black Friday. So stoked!
awesome vid! simple, direct and relevant, kudos!
That's exactly what I need to know. I'm going with the Sony a7ii for photography. Ty
excellent choice, thanks for watching!
Thank you for getting right to the point of the cameras pros and cons.
Good video short and to the point, need more videos like these.
A7 series are full frame. You may get smaller lighter camera, but the lenses are also massive sometimes heavier than the DSLR counterparts, so the portability advantage of the system is actually marginal if you get full frame sony. Sony APS-C is where you get the real portability, system-wise.
0:40 that jittery, not fluid, motion. Any idea how to solve that?
Great comparison. I just bought the a7II, I am a Nikon shooter and just found out about the Fotodiox Fusion. I will give it a go!
Is the A7rII still worth it in 2023? I'm on a budget and the negative review about the battery is the only thing holding me back...is it really that bad? Thanks!
Thanks for the comparison! Great job!
Thanks so much. This is just what I needed after using the A6000. I am going to move up. (as others said, either lose or lower the background music).
@@johnberry1471 I'd get the A7RII, then. It's a fine body. Save that extra $$$ for better lenses.
Thanks, great comparison of the 3 cameras.
Peace.
+PocketableTech the rx100 is such a sick little camera. thanks for the feedback. we still need to do a collab!
+Austin Paz let's make a viral video! 😎
+PocketableTech i like the way you think
Perhaps you should mention that if you shoot lowlight pics A7S ii would be the option.. I have it and it's a monster for lowlight pics.. 10K -16k ISO is nothing..
Loved the video, very clear and informative - thank you!
thanks for watching!
So For Beginners You recommend The A7ii Over The A7rii?
I Plan Just To Shoot Family Photos N Car Photography
for beginners, definitely. most people dont need the 42mp of the A7R which would be the main reason you would buy it. the 24mp from the A7II is definitely enough for 99% of shoots
Austin Paz Thanks So Much What Lens You Recommend For It? & Got Yourself A New Subscriber Keep It Up!
@@flvsh_m3 the lens all depends on what kind of shooter you are. i personally prefer primes for photo which can get a bit pricey but I love my zeiss 55mm 1.8 which would also work really well for family photos. for car stuff you might want something a bit wider in the 24-35mm range
Austin Paz Yeah I Was Thinking Like The 35mm
I'm looking to get a Sony Mirrorless camera next year. I'm deciding whether to get the A7ii or wait for the A7iii as I need it for my trip to Japan next year. Need a great all round photo + video.
seems like theyre slacking on announcing the mark IIIs on these cameras. im looking forward to seeing how they improve!
Does the A7 Ii have the continues Eye Auto Focus ? is there any major difference between the a7ii and the a7rii apart from 4K video?
not continuous but single focus eye AF with the A7ii.
The A7Rii is just much better in AF and also much cleaner high ISO.
if you can afford it, go for it
Thanks for the nice and simple comparison. My only gripe at the moment with Sony is the lack of lenses and the price. I am not a fan of using adaptors.
i agree with you. theyre a bit behind on lenses but theyre making a huge effort to fix that. new lenses have been coming out pretty frequently between sony and zeiss and their top quality glass most of the time
Awesome comparison!
Thank you. Very useful video. I find the Sony nomenclature very confusing and they release so much models that it's very hard to keep up.
Keep them coming
+Cheroger123 Thanks!
Thank you for the detailed explanation of the three cameras! When it comes to the IBIS, do you know if they have similar systems or does one outperform another? I've been looking at the A7II and was curious if that has an "older" IBIS set up compared to the other Sonys you reviewed? Thank you!
David Kremmel as far as all the second generation A7 cameras, the IBIS is the same across the board
Hi there! nice video as I am wondering which one of the two cameras actually - a7ii or a7rii - I'm gonna buy in the very next future.
Great video! Great review! Thank you for sharing with us! Keep up the good work!
+Marius Bulai Thank you so much!
I'm going take the A7S II for filming!
EDYGHEORGHE 36 awesome choice!! Great camera!
Sony A7 II VS Sony A7R II - What is the R for?
It has a weird form to it.
thanks for the review!
A7Sii is the best for low light and my questions is any difference between A7ii and A7Rii in Photo and Video?
Hello, for a beginner which camera do you suggest? I've been struggling a lot lately and still I have no idea on which camera is the right fit...
One of those huge time saving videos... Thanks a lot :)
Awesome video! Love Sony!! Glad I switched!
Great job man you helped me so much!
Which website would you recommend selling used Nikon gear and buying new Sony gear?
i usually buy my used gear from reputable dealers like B&H, Adorama or AllensCamera
Very good video!! Thank you and good job!
+SunSon29 Thanks for watching! Theres more coming soon!
Austin Paz alright, thank you!
Great no-nonsense video. Do these cameras take Konica Minolta lenses without an adapter?
thanks. im not 100% sure but i dont think so. i dont think you can put any non e mount lens on without an adapter but you can pretty much get an adapter for almost anything with sonys
Thanks for that, I was not sure which mount the A7 cameras had.
Which camra best photo n video sir
Great comparison! Really enjoyed watching. Just subscribed. Greetings!
thanks for watching!
Extremely helpful, thank you.
first of all, this is a very nice review, really helpful.
well, at the moment i'm using Canon 60D and i'm planning to upgrade and also move to Sony..
my needs are i'm using my camera mostly to take videos more than pictures.
Its a little weird getting used to a new system but its well worth it in my opinion.
so, it is very worthy then... thank you so much once again for your information from the video and your reply
I would like to see more videos like this one in the future thanks
A7sii. The Beast!!!!
a7sii is really a beast still in 2020
I have a question, isthe Sony a7 good with videos? Im transitioning from Nikon to Sony.
if youre looking to do video, the regular A7 and A7II arent the best option since they dont have 4k sensors. Id go with either the A7RII, A7SII or any of the new 3rd gen models (A7III, A7RIII) for video. their image quality is superb
Go for an A7Si ii or iii(when it becomes available) primarily for low light performance, a charateristic that's been overlooked in this review
OBSIDIANA X thank you so much for the feedback. I’m looking at the A7sII
Great video. straight to the point I like it.
+Pan thanks for watching!
+Austin Paz I didn't know about the resolution being better at 1080p. Thanks, good to know!
+Austin Paz On that note as well...which would you recommend from the A7S Mark I, and the A7 II (for video)? Both are similarly priced.
+Austin Paz thanks for the reply. it was very helpful. it also pushed me closer to getting a sony
What would be best for astrophotography?
one of the best vids i watched!!!...
The only difference between the A7 vs A7II is the stabilizer?
thats one main difference. i think its the same or similar sensor but the II has better af and more custom buttons
thanks :D
How is the a7ii at low light? I shoot mostly portraits, high school sports team photos, candids, and product photography (mostly knives), but I've been wanting to expand my sports teams work in include some action/game play work. That would be a lot of low light work with very bad stadium lighting. Which brings up another issue. How is the auto focus on the a7ii?
Nathan Garza the low light isn’t bad you just have a problem with focus but it’s not bad in itself
Just what I needed. Thanks!
thanks for watching!
Very nice video, thanks !!
Do you think A7III will coming soon?
im sure it will be coming soon as well as the A7SIII. i remember the mark 2s coming out after the A7R also
Austin Paz thanks!
