      Ya we brought some but never really saw any wildlife. There definitely could be Grizzlies in that zone though.

    Great video and such beautiful fish! Thanks for sharing. How was it fishing from those pack rafts?

    • @tenkararodco
      @tenkararodco  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha fishing from a packraft is never "easy" but still super fun and can be very effective is the fishing is good. Trout in those high mountain lakes don't expect it! Unfortunately the fishing wasn't great on this trip so we didn't catch any out of the packrafts but we have in the past and its really fun.

      @@tenkararodcowhat brand of pack rafts are those? I'm looking for a compact way of getting on the lake like that. Thanks!

    I love everything about this. My wife and I just backpacked the Eastern Sierra for 26-days and fished along the way with a "Sierra". Great fun!!! I am curious about the inflatables you brought along - brand, weight etc. Are you able to share?

      Wow that sounds like an amazing trip!
      We packed along some LWD from Klymit. Not the most capable of packrafts but fairly cheap and lightweight especially for trips like this.

      Ya very unexpected! The outlet creek was tiny and we caught that one not far from the lake at all so I assume the fish just got pushed down and into that little spot.

      @@tenkararodco Just curious why the back-up fly rod? When I go fishing with my buddies to high mountain lakes they bring fly rods, I bring my Teton from Tenkara Rod Co. and never feel outgunned. I catch as many or more than they do. I find most of the feeding is in the shallows/along the shore where the bugs are anyway. The only thing a fly rod can do better is strip wholly buggers IMHO.

    My dear friend, this is truly an inspiring video to experience. It's absolutely soothing and relaxing to watch and let the experience speak for itself. As someone who travelled a lot and got lost in life, lost all the passion, the drive, the hunger for exploration I finally managed after years getting back out there, getting the feeling of an adventure and what it means to experience again the great feeling hiking, exploring, and travel gives you. Thank you so much for sharing this video, I am moved and inspired by you and the knowledge you share. Wishing you the best.

      We thought we were going to get skunked again! This was late June so maybe still a little bit too early for how much moisture the mountains got late in the Spring.

    Those two Cutthroats on the "Sierra" were huge! I just bought a "Sierra" and took it on an overnight backpack in the Eastern Sierras. I caught/release many brook trout. I had so much fun fighting them with that rod. I can't imagine what it would be like catching one the size of that cutthroat on the Sierra. Hiking and backpacking to small streams and lakes is why I bought the Sierra, my first Tenkara rod. The Sierra exceeded my expectations and I look forward to more fishing with it. I am "hooked."

    • @tenkararodco
      @tenkararodco  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome Mike thanks for sharing. Really fun catching those bigger Cutthroat on the Sierra even though its sweet spot is for fish a little bit smaller. That creek just had a lot of overhang so the smaller rod was the best choice. Didn't expect there to be a fish of that size in a spot that small.
