I've seen lots of videos that say that green is coming in as the next big color. On this piece, your glazing really made the difference for that paint color!
I did the same thing and same color with an dinning room buffee and servier had no hand spray only hand rub came out great did it to an old panio and bench too You did a great job.
I REALLY appreciate how you explain so many seemingly little details about the work you do on these pieces! Like on this one- your experience with eggshell sheen paint and glazing not always working out well together. Plus your workaround for it. And tips about water-based glazing vs oil-based stain. Plus tips about primers or finish coats. And all about various sanding tools & techniques give you the best outcomes. I could go on and in... but you get the picture. 😉 I learn a lot from your videos, and I love your dedication to quality work! It shows in every piece. Thank You!
Me too. I don’t have much experience and I’m refinishing for fun, not profit. I learn a lot from your videos. Maybe I’ll be good enough to sell them one day
First time watching! Thank you for not being another DIY Channel. I love that you show your techniques. You also show your trial and errors and I like that. SO that if I get into the same error, I learn how to correct it. Love your vids.♥
After you were done, it resembled a bedroom set by United that we bought over 50 years ago. It has a light green stained finish similar to the one that you did. Great job.
When the title said green, I guess I was picturing a forest or dark green . I love this, the details show much more than when it was brown. Great job, it's beautiful 👍
Stunning, gorgeous work, as usual. I never would’ve thought to paint furniture this color, but the whole set turned out so beautiful! I love the armoire with those ikea style drawers! What a cool piece
That glazing is magic! I wasn’t crazy about the green at first, but once you added the brown glaze and put the hardware back on it totally came together. Also impressed with how detailed you are with the prep work!
Missed you ... glad you posted this video. I love to see how problems are solved ... so thanks for the hinge screw fix. I always "hesitate" when you show an odd base color but by the time the video ends, I am visualizing your reworked gorgeous furniture in my home. You are a true craftsman!
Those pieces are beautiful! You've inspired me to redo some of my furniture, so thank you! I am now on the lookout for other furniture to refinish for my house!
It was such an unexpected but meant to be color on this very vintage style woodwork. You have to give yourself some credit on this project as you truly transformed and have these pieces a new Life and did so with such detail.
Your work is perfection. Love the ability to be as daring or as fun as you want with these furniture makeovers The possibilities are endless Ive reupholstered couches and redone tables the results are dramatic it's so satisfying
Ty for this video .. inherited an armoire and a dresser similar pattern to this .. just recently did it a lite coat of grey .. wasn't happy yet cuz I couldn't see the details ... I'm going to glaze it! Ty! Love it!
I love how these 2 pieces came out! The green was nice by itself, but after you glazed them, they look absolutely stunning! Hardware is great too! New life to old furniture. Thanx for the informative videos!!!
Wow..amazing job..massive amount of work but so worth the end result. Like the color for this particular style of furniture.1st time watching..just discovered you.. thanks too for all the info about paints, stains, and repairs..can't wait to see more!!!
I loved it! It looks great and You did a great job! I like the green a lot. And the green alone with a adding the dark would be nice for a babies nursery or a little girls room.
LOVE this style! The more ornate the better as far as I'm concerned! Your work is so impressively thorough. It's a pleasure to watch, particularly compared to other refinishers who just paint right over the hardware!
Good job and well described how you did it. Am in the middle of a much simpler ebony staining of an odd shaped wooden wine box so this more complex process was fun. Thank you
That sure turned out beautiful! I love watching you paint. You pick great pieces to paint, you show all the steps from removing hardware to cleaning and the paint you use and the final piece....the glaze! I'm happy to see you wear protective gear when needed. Whoever buys this piece is gonna love it.
That Shabby Guy It’s no reflection on your work, I think you know that. It’s simply the craze that’s taken over to paint anything/everything sometimes obliterates beautiful wood pieces that have survived for decades.
I honestly don't have a problem with painting wood furniture so long as it looks appropriate. I think you did a fantastic job using a color that is appropriate for the decade that furniture. For me, that's what makes it...okay?.....for lack of a better word for it. The style and the color totally reminded me of the original The Parent Trap. Totally would fit in that house! Again, great job, man!
no, you aren't the only one I get so sick of seeing beautiful wood get painted over I've had to restore so many wonderful pieces that got painted, the fumes are terrible
What a pleasure to watch your preparation on this project. I love the green -my favorite colour. The sprayer made it so quick and easy and gave a perfect finish. Not mad about chunky plastic mouldings. Nice job!
Gorgeous colour! Personally, I would go for a darker colour. Charcoal with antique brass or black hardware. You have inspired me to get a new project underway!
Amazing. My parents had this same set. I always thought it was tacky. Your refinishing job turned it into something high end, ornate but tasteful with character and substance. It would fit right in at the Biltmore Estate. Great work!
Great work! I love the transformation! I’m always perplexed at all the comments I read on furniture painter’s channels from people upset that you’re painting over old stained wood pieces. People have been painting furniture for 100s of years. Just look at old pieces in Europe that have many layers of different paint colors. Also, in my professional opinion, paint actually preserves these pieces. If someone really wanted to, they could someday, remove the paint and restain the piece. Not to mention, furniture artists save many, MANY pieces from ending up in landfills. In my experience, the “traditionalists” complaining about painted pieces aren’t even buying these old stained pieces that they claim should be saved. Keep on painting your heart out! You have a gift for sure.
What a great flip! You would do well with any color you got from the oops section. That would be a fun video..... Makeover a piece with a random oops color. I appreciate you showing all your prep work.
I love your green painted dresser. You most defintely improved its look.....what a wonderful peice repainted to use anywhere. Tfs.....blessings to you!!
Personally, I think this color does the entire collection a lot more justice. The original, dark color hid all of the intricate details and made the collection uninteresting. As far as the hardware, I was expecting you’d go for a different color, maybe lighten it up a bit. The hardware draws too much attention. All in all, this is a beautiful transformation. Glad you gave those pieces some much needed upgrade. On a lighter note, did your hair get jealous of the collection’s new look that it asked for one too? Hehe.
I started recording this video in June. At that point I hadn't had a haircut since Jan due to the pandemic. I went out of town mid project and a friend of mine cut my hair along the way. I also lost 8lbs while out of town to cut into that quarantine 15 I gained lol. Thanks for watching!
That Shabby Guy glad it all worked out for you. Stay healthy, safe and active my man. Don’t take too long on your projects. You know we’re always waiting to be inspired. 😉👍🏻
I’ve noticed so many people get upset if older furniture is painted but when it’s done right and beautifully, it can result in something like this! Where th eoriginal wood didn’t show justice to the collection as much as paint can.
I’m refurbishing a new dresser. I’m glad that I’m watching this tutorial because I need all the help I can get. Thank you so much. You did a super job. Love it!
Fantastic job, thanks for showing your glazing technique. I'm new to furniture flipping, have heard other flippers talk about glazing but no clue how to achieve the look. Now, I do. Going to give it a go on some nightstands.
Use goggles with the spray paints besides the paint mask. Beautiful transformation, I like that soft green a lot. The spray gun is so efficient. A lot of steps there, came out great.
Not personally crazy about the green colouring from a home decor standpoint, tbh. I much prefer that lovely blue you have often done in the past, or perhaps a slate or pale grey? However, it is a wonderfully done reno, as usual! 😊
We had a very similar set for many years. It was incredibly heavy and the designs attracted dust. Now I see that I should've painted it! You do incredible work.
I have this exact set of furniture that has been sitting waiting for paint. I’m thinking of making the dresser into a kitchen buffet. Plannin on green as well only gem tone emerald & changing out hardware to gold. Thanks for showing me all the things to look out for😉.
this is much improved! I had a dining room set that would match that. I routed the edges of my table and finished it to look like a marble slab, but after 8 years it got damaged. I’ve since thrown out the table and chairs, but there’s nothing “wrong” with the hutch, just dark and dirty. I’ve been thinking of painting it for quite some time, I’m glad to see the glazing technique here, But I still haven’t picked a color.
I had the same pieces few years ago. Since I didn't had spray paint gun, I choose to paint with a brush, in white chalk paint. I left the deep curves brown, I painted as dry brush, and it came out beautifully. Fast and cheap that way! I sold it quicker then any other set!
I like what you've done bringing beautiful furniture back to life it's not my favorite color but it looks great you did a good job.... I'm definitely following your videos
Thank you for sharing! One thing that is obvious is that everyone has different tastes in colors, weather to glaze or just paint and, of course, keep the original wood look. They would all work. You do a great job. My favorite thing, is that you refurbish to last! Those pieces will endure many years of use and enjoyment for someone. Keep up the good work!
I really like the color. The antique effect made it all come together. The best thing in the world is to get an old piece of furniture and use your imagination on it.
I just love to see dated, heavy wood furniture modernized. These are show pieces and would look gorgeous in a living room (armoire for storage), dining room (dresser as a buffet), or anywhere really. You gave them a new life. I wish you could help me with my grandma's buffet. That's my next project, but I don't have your tools.
Gorgeous!! Watching your videos is the first time I’ve seen this technique (glazing) and I can’t wait to try it out on something! I usually like to build new things and typically leave everything with a more natural wood stain finish but have been wanting to try some other things in addition to redoing some of my furniture like an old dining room table someone gave my husband a few years ago. I am learning SO much from your videos! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I'm recording a video right now of a dresser someone painted 7 years ago with Annie Sloan chalk paint. I'm stripping it down to see what's underneath. We'll see what I can do with it. Next video!
@@ThatShabbyGuy Fun! Can’t wait to see what you find under there! I really like that you film and show the whole process and not jut clips to fill a set 10 minute time frame! Thanks for all your hard work! 😊
I love that shade of green. I had a bedroom suite very similar to that one and gave it to my granddaughter a few months ago. She transformed it into a beautiful farmhouse style by painting it white and distressing the edges. I love the way you antiqued your pieces. Very beautiful!
What did you think about this color? Green?!
That green color it's gorgeous!!
You did a great job. I personally would have chosen a different colour. The video was perfectly explained.
I prefer a different color, but your technique is so great, I think any color you use will always look good.
I've seen lots of videos that say that green is coming in as the next big color. On this piece, your glazing really made the difference for that paint color!
I wasn’t fond of the color at first but after the glazing and hardware it’s lit!! 😍
The only thing more satisfying than refinishing old furniture is watching someone else do it. Fabulous job btw.
This is so accurate.
Yeah, in fast motion!
Zoom!
Especially when there’s so much intricate detail. Lol!
I did the same thing and same color with an dinning room buffee and servier had no hand spray only hand rub came out great did it to an old panio and bench too
You did a great job.
It looks a lot better than some of the new boring modern furniture they are putting out today. That green is almost a neutral.
I find myself using a light sage-ish green as a neutral. It blenda well w/almost any color scheme
The wood dowel for the new screw was an awesome fix. The glaze made it look so cool awesome video.
I am officially addicted to watching you redo furniture and making it beautiful again. Please keep it up! Your channel is going to grow :)
Well I was wrong, at the beginning I thought it wouldn’t look too good, but how wrong was I. It’s so beautiful I’d be proud to have that in my home.
I REALLY appreciate how you explain so many seemingly little details about the work you do on these pieces! When the title said green, I guess I was picturing a forest or dark green . I love this, the details show much more than when it was brown. Great job, it's beautiful 👍
You have done a beautiful job, the minty green with the glazing makes these two pieces a wonderful addition to any room. Well done.
You did an incredible job. You are a true artist.
That's exactly what I was going to say.
Thank you!
That’s just what I was thinking! What an artisan. If I were I. The market, he’d be my guy!
Xia 8xxx 😂
Xia 8xxx to each his own; I think he improved them. 🙃
This came out great. I am such a fan of this kind of glazing. Thanks for explaining so well.
I love how you make a piece of furniture just pop! Nice job young man!
Stunning, gorgeous work, as usual. I never would’ve thought to paint furniture this color, but the whole set turned out so beautiful! I love the armoire with those ikea style drawers! What a cool piece
I thought the green was hideous. But again you transformed the pieces into a work of art. And you make it look effortless.
GORGEOUS! Nothing like the quality of vintage furniture. So satisfying to watch you bring new life to these pieces!
Weeks ago I marathoned your videos and subbed only to find you weren't posting anymore. Glad to see you're still active.
I'm transitioning from the "furniture hustle" to this TH-cam teacher role. I appreciate your patience while I get it figured out!
Yes keep going shabby guy, you're amazing doing your painting, I just love it!!💙 you're gifted!!!!
That glazing is magic! I wasn’t crazy about the green at first, but once you added the brown glaze and put the hardware back on it totally came together. Also impressed with how detailed you are with the prep work!
Glad to see your back. I love the way the details pop. Beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Gorgeous pieces of furniture there. Great job. Love the colour and I didn't think I would. Brilliant job.
Loved it, your work is so professionally done I would be proud to have any piece you restored in my home. Keep up sending us more videos, thank you.

I love seeing a guy working so hard to clean stuff. Just the cleaning made it look a lot better.
Talk about ornate - Wow!! Looks so much better painted Good Job as per usual!
It was such an unexpected but meant to be color on this very vintage style woodwork. You have to give yourself some credit on this project as you truly transformed and have these pieces a new Life and did so with such detail.
Looks like chunky chocolate mint!
That's a lot of work, but well done. I would've liked just the green. But thanks for the video.
It does look like my favorite ice cream.
Looks like those andies mint chocolates 🤤😋
Your work is perfection.

How much did the set cost at the time?
@@mermaiddiyartist8119 i don't really remember. it was a triple dresser with 2 mirrors, an armoire and headboard. i believe it was under $1000.

Brilliant way to remove the stripped screw! Thanks!
I love how you describe the entire process of the redo and I really love your creative style!

Stunning. Nice to watch an artist at work, tfs.
Amazing! That was an awesome find on the furniture too...beautiful details and u just made them 10x more beautiful
