Like you I enjoy chocolate as well as fruit and nuts. What I do is prepare a ramekin dish with 2 squares of chocolate broken into 4 pieces, dried fruit and nuts - and only eat these treats out of the little dish and never out of the packet. It does work.

I’ve dropped from 68.95kg (152lbs) 10st 12lbs to 53kg (117lbs) or about 8st 5lbs, which is almost back to my “normal” weight by following a high protein, and quite a high fat diet. I do eat carbs but in a very limited amount. I don’t deny myself any foods now. I eliminated any form of stimulants from my diet initially, and for quite a while. I was a big coffee drinker, now I only have 2/3 cups a week. Gave up cigarettes. It’s taken almost a year, but I’m almost back to my ideal weight. But you have to stay active too! It’s been a challenge but a great feeling to achieve these goals… almost there!!! 😊 I’m 52.
Bonjour, Frédérique! If you want to change everything with your metabolism, you need to lift weights. I’m 62, and I recently started to focus on building muscle. I can’t tell you what a difference it’s made. My body looks and feels different, and my core is stronger. I also don’t gain weight back as quickly. I don’t go to a gym, either. I use TH-cam workouts for women over 50 that focus on building muscle. I do this six days a week and also take 20 minute walks several times a week. Highly recommend!!!
Hi Freddy! This was wonderful! I have been sick and almost died last year. I lost so much weight that the drs were afraid for me, I was skeletal. But for me being that slim was like THE benefit from being so sick. I am now on steroids for my illness and that makes you gain weight. Now I'm at the point where I've gained ENOUGH WEIGHT BACK!! I want to stop gaining the weight back!!! I'm fighting tooth and nail!! This was great and I loved the quote at the beginning, "you're not hungry, you're bored". So true. I call it "Procrastin-Eating!!" You're my lovely, smart, beautiful Capricorn friend who I look up to!
Cutting WAY back on alcohol is a HUGE help! Not only is it carb-heavy calories, but it will mess up your sleep and make you more dehydrated! Wine almost instantly makes my belly bigger! No thank you!!
Hi Frederique! I am a convert to intermittent fasting. It really works but it takes time to be effective. It's healthy also, since it lowers insulin levels. Perfect for post menopausal women. The book Fast, Feast, Repeat explains the science behind it.
I'm trying the healthy snacks diet - no full meals. You don't ever fill your stomach until it's full. Your body digests small amounts better. Fruits and veggies mostly. Just started.
I’m doing all the things! The struggle is real. I’m rehabbing from a surgery and my comeback is slow, but I’ve tried to exercise and pay attention to my eating throughout the process, but I’m 60 now and things are changing AGAIN! It never ends. Take care of your body and it’ll take care of you. ❤ You can’t manage what you don’t measure, so don’t ignore it and think it’ll all take care of itself. Be the boss of you.
Thank you again Frédérique for your inspirational message! I’m 70 now… I can’t believe it! I really appreciate the motivation your channel and especially YOU 😍 help me to stick to what I’ve been doing for 50 years.
I’m 50. This is a work in progress right now since I started putting on weight last year in places I never gained before menopause! It’s in my chest (side boobs) as well as my upper stomach (my waistline). It’s really hard to get off too. I cannot seem to walk it off or yoga it off. But I found a strategy that seems to be working, but I’m only 2 weeks in. I found Dr. Stacy Sims interviews on TH-cam (her most famous is her Ted talk where she says “Women are not small men”). She’s a research scientist, and works with female athletes of all ages. So I started doing some of her suggestions-Sprint Interval Training (SIT). You don’t have to run. It’s all about doing whatever I want to get the heart rate up quickly (to 90% of max) for about 20-30 seconds and then resting for 2-3 minutes before doing it again and then repeating for 2-3 times before I’m done. Then I do that 3 times a week and I still do my yoga on the off days, with one day of rest where I just enjoy a walk or if I’m sore or not feeling well, then nothing that day. I tried on my favorite bra with underwire and push up (because the girls are small, side girls were bigger!) 2 days ago and it fit! The skin/fat around my armpits is going away again and I feel like i can take a deep breath again. I haven’t noticed any weight lost, but I think I must be beginning to replace the fat with muscle…somewhere. Definitely a work in progress, but I see glimmers that it’s working. I recommend researching Dr Stacy Sims work and see if her research helps at all. She’s based out of New Zealand-closer to you, Frédérique.😊 I’ve also started taking creatine (if it’s made with creapure it doesn’t cause tummy upset, so make a note of that if you look for it). It’s so highly recommended for women of any age but especially menopausal for brain health as well as muscle retention. I’ve been taking that for 3 weeks (just 5 grams in my morning water or coffee), and I’ve just started noticing my brain fog lifting. I notice more mental clarity, and I can recall things more easily.
Good reminder video! Best tips I was ever given were 1) Ask yourself why are you thinking about food all the time 2) You don’t need as much food as what you think you need 3) Don’t use food too much for recreation or entertainment 4) When you’re doing all the right things and nothing is working - water fast !
My weight loss tip is actually to weigh yourself every day, when you get up. That way, you can catch a little extra weight creeping up on you and do something about it before it starts adding up. If I see that the number on the scale is higher than the day before, I will reduce my food intake that day, and however many days after that, until I'm back to the weight I want to be. I'm 68, I work out every day and try to eat healthy as much as I can, but I will have an occasional treat or "cheat day" so I never feel deprived. Oh and I'm also taking HRT which helps a lot!
Hello Fredrique! I’m so happy that you popped up on my TH-cam again. I love you videos with your tips, advice, motivation and positivity. Keep up the amazing work Aloha!
I'm not 50, but I am slowly gaining inches. I am an average size now. I'm also short. I have been eating less calories than I needed and looked it up on the good and trusty Google. It said that I was in starvation mode and to eat more. I'm trying that now to see if it works. I'm not really gaining weight, but I'm gaining inches to the point that Levi's that fit loosely are too small now. I watch your videos all the time, you're great!! I'm so happy I found you on my fashion tips feed 😊
Also, I need to add that it's been a lifetime of under eating for me. I suppose my restrictions were an eating disorder. I gained a ton of weight quickly and lost most of it, I am used to being a size zero in America. I find my mindset about food changing as I eat food and watch self-improvement content. It's quite common to have over eating problems where I'm from, but my trauma reaction was the opposite
I really need to lose 50 lbs and have tried just about everything. Now I am putting a dollar in a jar for every lb I lose. If I gain, I take a dollar out
Watch some Dr. Berg videos on TH-cam here. It is keto and totally free information. Three days tough in the beginning, but after that you are losing weight without being hungry. Keto is extremely low carb. The way caveman lived: on fat burning.
@@timriehl1500 Keto didn't work for me, either. Nor does my body like a vegetarian diet. It does respond to intermittent fasting, such as two meals/day, but only when I employ enough self-discipline to do it.
Thankyou Frèdèrique for your tips, but more importantly your plan and emphasis on consistency.... Sleep is my priority at the moment because it, sets my mood and if I don't get enough sleep my food choices arent the best, like you said, carbs call me 🤣Thankyou for sharing with us women, trying to live our best lives and encouraging us to take responsibility for our own selfcare❤
I actually wasn’t eating enough. I increased my protein intake and vegetables and the weight started coming off. I used a tracking app and found out I wasn’t getting enough calories per day- your body holds into everything as fat if you’re below 1500 calories (I was around 1200 and playing hockey, which means I need to be at least 2500).
Coucou Frédérique, toujours des superbes vidéos, j'adoooore. Merci pour tous ces conseils. Belle journée à toi😍😍😍
For the bowel movement I start my day with 2 big glasses of warm water (not too hot) that I drink in one go and minutes later I'm good to go. But I dont add anything to the water.
I have never been a night owl. I fall asleep early and wake up early. However, I am also a chronic insomniac. I wake up in the middle of the night and often struggle to go back to sleep. I did a DNA test and it said I am genetically inclined to not sleep deeply, but I am also genetically inclined to do okay on less sleep. I have recently decided to stop trying to chase a certain weight. I’m 54 and my weight has been pretty steady over the past 10 years. I am about 20-30 pounds overweight by most standards, but I carry it well (my boobs and butt) and I have great muscles. I exercise daily (weight training, walking, dance, yoga, horseback riding). I drink mostly water. I plan my meals and cook for myself from scratch most days and there are plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in my diet and I shop at farm markets. My bio markers are all good. I am the picture of health. I am learning to be at peace with the fact that I will never look “ideal”. The times in my life I have managed to lose significant weight I have been miserable. I had to restrict my eating in ways that did not make me happy.
I gained about fifty lbs during 2020. I've lost about 20 of it so still 30 to go. I've recently cut out highly processed foods and try to focus on fresh fish and veggies. I also do five days of fasting mimicking diet. Oddly since doing this the weight loss has slowed, but I've lost 3.5 inches from my waist (not sure where it went as none of my other measurements went up). Also thank you for the measurement tip. You've mentioned it in a previous video and its really helped me with insight into how/where my body holds weight.
At 47 I incorporate intermittent fasting and really works for me I sleep better and feel amazing! I eat less calories and more protein in my diets and greens fruits some nuts for me having 5 children I did gain but not as much as I thought I would considering I’m short I also workout 4 times a week and I walk a lot!! Thanks for this info Frédérique ❤❤
The secret to good hydration is to figure out how you most enjoy drinking water. For me, it has to be ice cold. Since I started keeping my ice cube trays full, it's been easy and convenient to stay hydrated every day. I also fell victim to the Stanley craze, but it's all good. I now have a 40 oz. cup, my water stays cold and once I bought a carry case with a shoulder strap, I can stay hydrated on-the-go!
Such good tips. I am 43 and never managed to lose the weight I gained after my 2nd pregnancy. But I transformed fat into muscles (at least parts of it). So I look better. Never have ready to eat treats at home. I always eat unhealthy stuff if I am bored. Nutella only if my husband isn't at home. Latest at 10 pm I lose and eat it. 😅
A lot of times you try something new, and it works until your body adjusts to it. I have discovered two things that are allowing me to eat and I feel full, but not bloated or uncomfortable. I hope it lasts and its not something that will adjust itself to being ineffective again. One is raw colostrum. Its anti-inflammatory, helps regulate hormones and is said to help heal leaky gut and IBS as well as help people who are lactose intolerant be able to tolerate dairy again. This isnt a powder like you see in commercials- its real raw cow colostrum from a farm. Not easy to get in the USA due to our crazy anti-healthy laws, but where there is a will.... Its loaded with vitamins and minerals and antioxidants and so on. The other is baked goods and pasta made from einkorn flour. Einkorn is an ancient grain and the only non-hybridized wheat. Im eating deserts and breads again, no discomfort, and Im actually losing weight without having to fast. Its great and I hope it lasts. I totally agree that healthy ingredients are even more important when you are over 50. Its not just about weight. Energy level and mental health are affected by what we eat as well. It used to be my breasts were the first to go which when I was young was not exciting, lol. Now its my legs, and if I do chair crunches then my belly too. Thanks Freddy. Be well!
I may be alone in this, But the FIRST place I lose weight is my feet... Which means that I have to buy 2 different sizes of shoes. One for the NEEDS TO DIET NOW me, and for the THE DIET IS WORKING me. Until I reached 50, this was NEVER a thing, Now it is. Or if it was, I was going around in Tennis shoes and did not notice. The heels I wore as a kid were mostly backless, so if my feet shrank then I would not have noticed because the front of the shoe was around the top part of my foot.
